About the booklet About the Author Mohammad Shaikh is a public speaker on Islam and comparative religion. His lectures are based on Qur anic textual inflection which serve to remove numerous misconceptions, present authentic Islamic beliefs and appeal for a rational and objective analysis of the Qur an based on it's own internal evidence. Without taking political or sectarian sides, he calls people to understand and analyze what the Qur an has to say about a subject first and foremost, as it is the Qur an which is Islam s principal authoritative text and Allah s word and revelation to humankind. This is a lecture reference booklet. Compiled by Muhammad Shaikh. It is in accordance with the lecture of the same topic. It contains the Quranic verses which are collected from The Quran under the topic set by the speaker with the help of Allah. He recites these verses during the course of the lecture and read their translation to establish an understanding of the verses. Inside the booklet on the one side are the Arabic verses and on the corresponding page are their translation in English language. Reference booklets are available on other topics. INTRODUCTION The aim of this booklet is to introduce the reader to the topic from the Qur an. It can be studied on its own and it also complements the video lecture of the same topic which accompanies it. The booklet contains ayaat (Qura nic verses) pertaining to the topic as discussed in the video lecture in a question and answer format. Questions are raised, and their answers are given by the ayaat. The ordering and numbering of the ayaat corresponds with those on the lecture which can be downloaded from the video lectures section of IIPC website: www.iipccanada.com The Qura nic references provided herein are not exhaustive but offer the core essence of the subject. The references that have been excluded in this publication can be researched using any good concordance and it will be discovered that the selection introduced in this publication will harmonize the entire sequence. It is hoped that Muslim readers will memorize these ayaat along with their Arabic text and engage in Da wah (propagation of Islam) to their friends and colleagues, and also be able to recite the same in their Salah (prayer). In this manner, the booklet becomes a useful tool for everyday Muslim practice - Insha Allah. Translations of ayaat are by Mohammad Shaikh, any questions, comments or suggestions regarding the topic are welcomed via Email: info@iipccanada.com ABOUT INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC PROPAGATION CENTER. International Islamic Propagation Center (IIPC) is a Da wah organization that aims to promote Al-Qur an, the Book of Allah. IIPC was founded by Mohammad Shaikh in 1985 at Karachi, Pakistan. However, IIPC's current location is Mississauga, Canada as a registered charitable organization. Since then it invites people of all faiths and beliefs to understand and appreciate Al-Qur an through lectures delivered by Mohammad Shaikh, and strives to reach the masses by means of events, print publications, electronic media productions, internet TV broadcasts and website. The center endeavors to propagate Al-Islam in its pristine form based on the ayaat (signs) of Allah and the general public can benefit from its activities by means of the free of cost learning materials and direct consultations with the speaker on understanding and practices of Al-Qur an in their daily lives. The center has no political or sectarian affiliation and is run Fi-sabeel Allah solely on a charitable basis. We request all Muslims to join hands with us in the cause of Allah and support our mission of Da wah i.e. invitation of Al-Islam to the masses of the world.

READ! WITH THE NAME OF YOUR LORD AL-QUR'AN THE BOOK OF ALLAH. JUST TWO AYATS / VERSES OUT OF OVER 6,000 FROM AL-QURAN. And We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember. Is there anyone that will receive admonition? Al-Qamar 54:17 THE HOLY AL-QUR'AN * A PROCLAMATION TO HUMANITY * A FOUNTAIN OF MERCY AND WISDOM. * A WARNING TO THE HEEDLESS. * A GUIDE TO THE ASTRAY. * AN ASSURANCE TO DOUBTFUL. * A SOLACE TO THE SUFFERING. * A HOPE TO THOSE IN DESPAIR. Do they not ponder over the Qur'an? If it had been from other than Allah, surely there would have found many contradictions in it. Al-Nisa 4:82 Our Motto And when Allah took the charter of those who are given Al-Kitab / The Book that you would make it clear for mankind and you will not keep it secret then they threw it behind their backs and purchase with it a little value so what a miserable purchase. Aal-e-imran 3:187

AN-NAJM 53 AS-SAFFAT 37 19. 20. So do you see laat / would be / if & buts and uzza / honour. And manaat / longing third of the other? Which Ayaat of the Quran mention the names of emotions that human beings served as false gods? AL-QASAS 28 AL-FURQAN 25 43. Do you see who takes his own hawa / desire as god What would you be an advocate over him? NT 125. Do you call baal / husband and you leave the best of the creators. NOOH 71 22. And they planned a great plan. 23. And they said, dont leave your gods and do not leave wadda / love and not soowa / time / hour And not yaghoos / seek aid and not yaooq / delays and not nasr / vulture. How did prophet Ibraheem (pbuh)deal with people who were serving false gods? 3 4

AL-ANAM 6 74. And when Ibraheem said to his father Aazar. Do you take beloved idols as gods surely I see you and your people in clear straying. AL-ANBIYAA 21 57. And by Allah, I will machinate / to devise artfully to your idols after you turn your backs. AS-SAFFAT 37 AS-SAFFAT 37 95. He said: Do you worship / serve what you have carved? AL-ANKABUT 29 25. And he said, surely you have taken idolatry / idols other than Allah out of mutual love between yourselves in this life then on the day of judgement you shall reject some of you with some, and curse some of you some. And your abode is the fire, and for you there will be no one from the helpers. 91. So he dodged towards their gods, then said, do you not eat? 92. What is the matter with you that you do not speak logically. 93. Then he dodged over them, striking with the right / correct. Why do people take their emotions to the stage of making them into gods? How does prophet Ibraheem (pbuh) argue with idol worshippers so that they revert to their great one, that is Allah, the one true God? 5 6

AL-ANBIYAA 21 58. So he made chips / small pieces except their Great One, so that they turn towards Him. 59. They said, who has done this with our gods, surely he must be from the oppressors. AL-ANBIYAA 21 62. They said, are you the one who has done this with our gods, O Ibraheem? 63. He said, no He has done it, This is their Great One! So ask / question them if they are logical. 60. They said, We have heard a young man mentioning them, for him they say Ibraheem. 61. They said, Then bring him before the eyes of the people, so that they bear witness. 7 8

ACCORDING TO GOSPEL OF BARNABAS JEWS AND CHRISTIANS FAITH. 27. Then Said Philip: 'O master, how came it to pass that Abraham's father wished to burn his son?' Jesus answered: 'One day, Abraham having come to the age of twelve years, his father said to him: Tomorrow is the festival of all the gods; therefore we shall go to the great temple and bear a present to my god, great Baal. And thou shalt choose for thyself a god, for thou art of age to have a god. Abraham answered with guile: Willingly, O my father. And so betimes in the morning they went before every one else to the temple. But Abraham bare beneath his tunic an axe hidden. Whereupon, having entered into the temple, as the crowd increased Abraham hid himself behind an idol in a dark part of the temple. His father, when he departed, believed that Abraham had gone home before him, wherefore he did not stay to seek him. Barnabas was the disciple of Jesus mentioned in the bible in Acts 4:36 & Galatians 2:1&9. ACCORDING TO GOSPEL OF BARNABAS JEWS AND CHRISTIANS FAITH. 28. When every one had departed from the temple, the priests closed the temple and went away. Then Abraham took the axe and cut off the feet of all the idols, except the great god Baal. At his feet he placed the axe, amid the ruins which the statues made, for they, through being old and composed of pieces, fell in pieces. Thereupon, Abraham, going forth from the temple, was seen by certain men, who suspected him of having gone to thieve something from the temple. So they laid hold on him, and having arrived at the temple, when they saw their gods so broken in pieces they cried out with lamentation: Come quickly, O men, and let us slay him who hath slain our gods! There ran together there about ten thousand men, with the priests, and questioned Abraham of the reason why he had destroyed their gods. Abraham answered: Ye are foolish! Shall then a man slay God? It is the great God that hath slain them. See you not that axe which he hath near his feet? Certain it is that he desireth no fellows. If the Qur an does not mention that Ibraheem (pbuh) physically smashed the stone idols of his people, then what is the source of this belief? 9 10

AL-ANBIYAA 21 AN-NAJM 53 64. So they turned towards their souls / selves and said, surely you, You are the oppressors. 65. Then they were turned upside down over their heads (and said) Without doubt you knew that these (idols / gods) cannot be logical. 66. He (Ibraheem) said, do you then worship / serve besides Allah that they can neither be of any advantage to you nor do you any harm to you? 67. Word of contempt / dishonour for you,and for what you worship / serve besides Allah! Then will you not use intellect? 21. What! For you, the masculine / male, and for Him the feminine / female. 22. That is then an unfair / unjust division. Does the people attribute idols to God, i.e. their feelings which are feminine in nature? 23. They are not except names you have named them, you and your fathers, Allah has not sent down with them from the authority. They follow nothing except conjecture and what the souls / selves desire! And without doubt the guidance has come to them from their Lord. What is the reaction of people when their psychological idols are broken? What is the basis of idol worship? 11 12

ASH-SHOORA 42 PN AL-HIJR 15 MQ 51. It is not for a human that Allah speaks to him, except by inspiration or from behind a veil or He sends a messenger, then he inspires with His permission whatever He wills. Surely He is Most High, Wise. 52. And likewise from Our order We have inspired rooh / spirit towards you. You did not have the perception what was the book and the belief, but We have made it (rooh / spirit) a light, We guide from Our servants with it (rooh / spirit) to whom We will. And surely you guide towards the straight path. 9. Surely We have revealed the remembrance (zikr) and surely We are the preservers of it. AS-SAFF 61 5. And when Moosa said to his people, O my people why do you hurt me? And without doubt you know that I am the messenger of Allah to you. So when they deviated, Allah deviated their hearts. And Allah does not guide the people who are fasiqeen (liberals). How Allah communicates with the man? 13 14

AL-ANAM 6 19. Say what thing is greatest evidence, say Allah is a witness between me and you and this Quran is inspired to me to warn all of you with it and to whom it is delivered. Do you surely bear witness that with Allah there are other gods? Say I do not bear witness. Say surely He is one God and surely I am exempted from what you associate (i.e. to give partners to Him). AS-SAFF 61 6. And when Essa / Jesus the son of Maryam / Mary said, O children of Israel, surely I am a messenger of Allah to you, confirming what is between my two hands from At-Taurah / the law and giving you the good news with the messenger who will come after me whose name will be Ahmed / more praiseworthy. So when he came to them with clarifications they said, this is a clear magic. 15 16

AN-NISA 4 59. O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the messenger and obey the one who gives the order from you. So if you have dispute in anything, so return it to Allah and the messenger if you believe with Allah and the last day. That is better and the most beautiful interpretation. P AL-MAIDA 5 44. Surely We have revealed At-Taurah / the law (i.e. hukum / the government of Allah containing all the governing ayats / signs in it is guidance and light, an-nabeeyoon / the prophets who were muslims / submitters govern with it for those who are hadoo / jews and ar-rabba-neeoon / the lords and al-ahbar / the scholars (govern with it), with what they were required to become the hafiz / i.e. those who memorize from the book of Allah, and they are witness over it. Then fear not mankind and fear Me and do not purchase My ayats / signs with a little price. And who do not govern with what Allah has revealed, then they are kafiroon / those who reject. 17 18

AL-AHQAF 46 PR AL-BAQARA 2 N 4. Say, do you see what you call other than Allah, show me what they have created from the earth or for them is a share in the skies? Come to me with kitab / book before this or any effects from the knowledge if you are truthful. AL-BAQARA 2 54. And when Moses said to his people, O my people surely you have oppressed your souls/selves/psyches with what you have hold the hurriedness so return to your Creator, then kill your selves/souls/psyches. That is better near your Creator for you. So He (Allah) returns over you. Surely He is the one Who returns, the Merciful. N 185.Ramazan is that month in which Al-Quran / The Reading has been revealed as a guide for mankind and the clarification from the guidance and from the criterion. So from you whosoever witnessed that month then he should fast in it. And whosoever is sick or on a journey then he counts in other days. Allah intends easiness with you, and He does not intend difficulty with you. And so you complete the counting, and seek Allah s greatness on that He gave you guidance and so that you may be thankful. 19 20

AL-ARAF 7 180. And for Allah are the beautiful names so call Him with them, and leave those who use profanity / disrespect in His names soon they will be giving penalty for what they are doing. AL-HASHR 59 23. He is Allah, there is no god except Him. The King, The Holy One, The Peace, The Belief, The Guard, The Powerful, The Forceful, The Greatened.
