Turned Around Christian Youth in Action LAUREN PARSONS / 5TH YEAR MISSIONARY I am serving as a Summer Missionary again this summer because I feel that it is what I am called for and created to do. Not only that, but it also strengthens my walk with God. When I am at CYIA or serving throughout the summer, I am surrounded by people who are very strong in their faith and who are always there with prayer and godly advice. I also feel the summer is a time when it s quiet enough to hear God and get closer to Him without the distraction of school. The final reason I am serving this summer is because of the great need in Milwaukee. While teaching 5-Day Clubs, especially in inner city Milwaukee, I get questions like, If God is good, why are my parents divorced?, Why don t we have enough money?, Why do people steal?. A lot of kids aren t shown much love at home and they need to be shown the greatest love and the greatest hope; teaching 5-Day Clubs gives me that opportunity. Please pray that God will keep me and my fellow missionaries safe, and that He will give me energy and enthusiasm to teach most effectively, and courage to be a leader. Thank you! JULIA RADEWAHN / 4TH YEAR MISSIONARY I am returning to CYIA this year so I can spread God s love to many more children and meet new Christian friends. I am excited to learn how to teach kids more effectively and to grow in my relationship with God! I plan to use this training to teach 5-Day Clubs this summer and Good News Club during the school year. CEF has allowed me to have one-on-one conversations with kids who don t know Jesus and who are empty without His love. Through these conversations I have been able to see how blessed I am to have known Jesus at a young age. I would appreciate prayer that I will have the energy I need for training and clubs. Please also pray that I will be able to focus my attention on the children during clubs and that God will touch their hearts so they can understand what is being taught. Thank you! 2018 summer missionaries2

EMMA LANGOEHR / 3RD YEAR MISSIONARY I am choosing to be a Summer Missionary again this year because I love telling children about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. The thought of children not knowing about the one way to turn their lives around and get to heaven is terrible, and I want kids to have the opportunity to hear about Jesus. This year will be my third year as a Summer Missionary and I am excited to learn and have more opportunities to reach kids with the Gospel. Learning more ways to effectively share my faith this year will really equip me and give me the experience I need to share the truth of Jesus with my friends at school and the children I teach at Good News Club. CYIA training has really taught me to be bold when it comes to sharing my faith. Having the opportunity to teach kids about Jesus has been the greatest experience of my life! I would greatly appreciate it if you would please pray that I will have energy during the summer and a constant focus on the children s need for salvation. Thank you again for being a partner with me in my passion for reaching kids in Southeast Wisconsin with the Gospel. ELLA JOHNSON / 3RD YEAR MISSIONARY I am choosing to be a Summer Missionary again this year because the last two years with CEF have made a huge impact on my life! I have grown in my faith and have learned so much, and I ve made some great friends. One reason I come back every year is because it is so important to share the Gospel with kids who might not otherwise be able to hear about Jesus. Matthew 28:19a says Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. This is a command from Jesus that I want to follow. I am really excited to be trained as a Bible teacher this year so I can have opportunities to counsel children for salvation. I hope this summer will help me gain more boldness in sharing my faith so I will do it more often outside of CEF. I would appreciate prayer this summer that I will grow closer to God through this and will learn to rely more on Him every day. I would also like prayer that many children will respond to the Gospel and that I will have courage as I share about Jesus. Click Here to DONATE to a Summer Missionary

MIA BENNETT / 2ND YEAR MISSIONARY I am choosing to serve as a Summer Missionary again this year because my experience last year was incredible and there is no other way I would rather spend my summer. A verse that encouraged me to apply for CYIA once again was Philippians 4:13, which says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. This verse helps me to remember that even though things are hard Christ is with me. I m looking forward to being a Bible teacher this year because I will have the opportunity to counsel children for salvation each time I teach! This training will not only help me with counseling children, but will teach me to witness to more unsaved individuals. CYIA not only teaches me how to share the Gospel, it also bring me closer to God. Thank you all who supported me last year with your prayers! I would be very grateful if you would pray for my safety and spiritual guidance. God is using me through this ministry to lead children to Christ, so thank you for being a part of it. God isn t looking for people of great faith, but for individuals ready to follow Him. Hudson Taylor MARLIE WEGNER / 2ND YEAR MISSIONARY I am choosing to be a Summer Missionary again this year because I believe God wants me to tell others about Him. It was such a blessing to be able to reach children with God s Word last summer, and I m excited to do that again! CYIA is a rigorous training program for Summer Missionaries, and through it I really learned how to rely on God for strength through prayer. I am looking forward to learning how to present the Bible lesson this year. I thank God that He has blessed me with this opportunity. Please pray that I will continue to rely on God as I go through the training this year; it s a lot of work and I want to do my best to honor Him. Also, please pray that I will be able to present the Bible lesson clearly to the children.

Turned Around LILLY WEGNER / 1ST YEAR MISSIONARY Last year, my sister Marlie was a CEF missionary, and she was really fired up to volunteer again. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and it made me consider giving it a try. When I visited her club last year, I was amazed at how much the kids loved listening to the Bible stories and participating in the games and activities. My desire to volunteer is to give more kids this experience. My only hesitation in getting involved is that I m somewhat shy. Please pray that the Lord will help me communicate boldly and effectively, and that I will be able to balance my time with all the things I have to do. Through this experience, I hope to grow stronger in my faith and love for Christ. CHLOE WEGNER / 1ST YEAR MISSIONARY Last year, my sister Marlie was a Summer Missionary with CEF. Because her experience was so positive, I thought I d like to give it a try as well. I look forward to working with children and sharing the Gospel message. Please pray the Lord would grant me His grace, and give me a spirit of boldness. CLIFF YANG / 1ST YEAR MISSIONARY I have always enjoyed serving God, especially in children s ministry. Whether it s leading a game or playing a piano for worship time, I know that I am using my talents to lead kids to Jesus. Over the past few years, I have realized that my weakest areas are speaking in front of large groups of people or talking with a person one-on-one about Jesus. These are both areas in which I need to grow to fulfill the Great Commission. Over the past school year, I helped teach at a Good News Club. Through the training provided by CEF and my experience at the Good News Club, I have grown a little in both areas. It is my hope that Christian Youth in Action (also run by CEF) will help me grow even more in these areas. As I learn from the teachers and practice what I learn, I hope to become more capable at articulating the truth about God to kids. I also desire to become more willing to share the Gospel, not only to people I already know but also to those whom I have never met before. Please pray for me as I participate in this program! Pray that God will give me a humble heart and a good memory to learn as much as I can, and that I will develop in the areas of communication and evangelism. Pray that God will use me to encourage my fellow students and spread the Gospel to kids, and that God will be glorified in everything I say and do.

REBEKAH MAREK / 1ST YEAR MISSIONARY Deuteronomy 28:1-2 says, If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God. After attending CEF s Winter Retreat, I felt led to teach this summer and I want to obey God s call. When I graduate high school, I plan on being a missionary to Taiwan so I think attending CYIA training and teaching 5-Day Clubs this summer will be a good opportunity to prepare me for future ministry. I look forward to building strong friendships and teaching kids about God. I would appreciate prayer for strength and patience throughout the training and summer. Thank you! MYRA JOHNSON / 1ST YEAR MISSIONARY Luke 9:22-26 says If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. When I first heard of CEF, I decided it wasn t for me. For selfish reasons I basically said to God, Other people can do that, and I will wait until I am an adult. For now, I will enjoy my youth in my way. Despite this, I prayed about it for a year, and I knew God had called me and I must answer. I have attended 5-Day Clubs as a student, and it helped me see some of the impact clubs have from the child s view, as I was impacted. CEF has really shown me how people like me can obey Jesus command and take up our cross daily; how we can use our whole lives, even in our youth, to bring glory to Him. One thing I am looking forward to is the training. All through the summer I can use my training to teach children about Christ, but it doesn t stop there. With God s help, I can teach others as well in my future. Please pray for me through the training, that this experience would grow me spiritually and that I could use my knowledge to grow others in God s love.
