All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Cor. 6:12 Self-control Like a city that is broken into and without walls Is a man who has no control over his spirit Proverbs 25:28

The Biggest Issues and Motives Aren t Health, Money But Rather That These Issues Are Sinful, Against God, His Will and Holiness.

One big problem with alcohol consumption (and other drugs, etc.) is denial of the problem.

Drunkenness, Carousals, Drinking Parties (1 Peter 4:2-3) Drunkenness: (οινοφλυγια) {excess of wine-kjv} is compound of (οινος) and (φλυω) to bubble up, overflow, drunkenness Thayer, 442 Carousals: (κωµος) of feasts and drinkingparties that are protracted till late at night and indulge in revelry. Thayer, 367 Drinking Parties: (ποτος) a drinking, a carousing Thayer, 533 the drinking bout, the banquet, the symposium, not of necessity excessive but giving opportunity of excess. Trench, 225

Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise. (lit. errs)

Proverbs 23:29-35 35 Alcohol Is Associated with Gluttony (23:20) Poverty (21) Personal Pain & Impersonal Strife (29) Distorted Senses and Thinking (33) Self Destruction (34) Personal Abuse (35) Addiction (35) Poor Leadership (31:4) Perverted Justice (31:5)

The Bible has nothing directly to say about tobacco but plenty of general teaching. Tobacco Originated In The Americas Titus 2:12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, Romans 14:20 Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense. 1 Corinthians 10:32 Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God; 2 Corinthians 6:3 giving no cause for offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited,

Tobacco (all drugs & other issues) 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Smoker s s verses Non-Smoker Smoker s s Lungs

Tobacco Influence As A Christian (22) I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Cost Calculator If a person smoked one pack of cigarettes per day (@8.00 per pack) for twenty years the financial cost of the cigarettes alone (at 3% interest had it been saved) is $78, 461. $440,343.00 Cost Calculator If a person smoked two packs of cigarettes per day (@8.00 per pack) for forty years the financial cost of the cigarettes alone (at 3% interest had it been saved) is $440,343. Today cost average $4.50-$5.00 / pack.

Other Drugs The Bible does not directly address any form of illicit drug use. There are no express prohibitions against cocaine, heroin, ecstasy (MDMA), or methamphetamines (Meth). There is no mention of marijuana, cannabis, peyote, magic mushrooms, or acid (LSD). Nothing is said about huffing, snorting, dropping, smoking, shooting, licking, or any other method of ingestion. This is not to say, however, that recreational drug use is permissible. On the contrary, there are several very clear biblical principles that place drug use well outside the realm of acceptable behavior.

Other Drugs Not much directly stated about the use of other drugs. They stand or fall mostly on the same basis of alcohol (a drug). Consider Romans 13:1-7 Consider the works of the flesh Galatians 5:21 and things like these and verse 20 sorcery (pharmacia) Physical and Psychological Addiction
