Dear Brothers and Sisters, Happy New Year! I pray that 2017 will bring many of God s blessings to all of you! We have good news! We finally have our own website! Please go to www.sjdc-oll.org. This website covers almost everything! Please visit this link and you will see many pictures of our activities at SJDC and OLL. On January 24, the Church worldwide celebrates the feast of St. Francis de Sales. You may recall that St. Francis de Sales is patron of the Deaf. During his lifetime, he became friend with a deaf man named Martin. They both communicated in their own sign language and St. Francis de Sales taught Martin about God and the Catholic faith. Martin learned so much that he was able to receive the Sacraments. St. Francis de Sales died in 1622 and his book Introduction to the Devout Life continue to be a popular reading. On January 24, I suggest that you do something special in honor of St. Francis de Sales because he is one of your patron saints - due to your deafness or your involvement in the Deaf community. On January 29, after the Mass at Holy Innocents, Anthony Trayner and I will give a talk about our pilgrimage to Poland last August for World Youth Day. Anthony was one of young adults who went with us, and we will use powerpoint slideshow to show many pictures of World Youth Day. You will learn about many things from our talk. It had been predicted that we would have a very terrible winter this year. Please play safe by not coming to our Mass if it there is a heavy snow on a Sunday. instead, if possible, go to a hearing church near your home for Mass. OLL and SJDC are far away for many of us, and it is not safe to drive in bad weather. Stay warm and God bless all of you. Fr.
