GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes February 17, 2016 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Twenty-nine members were in attendance. ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUESTS The club welcomed new member, Tom van Leeuwen. Tom and his wife, Barbara, have a 1971 Steel City Gray T-top. Freddie stated that name tags were furnished for the meeting and will be used at future meetings instead of magnetic name tags. Terri Kopa said that she and Larry recently purchased a 2011 Cyber Gray. SECRETARY S REPORT Sara Myers moved that the minutes from the January meeting be accepted as written. Seconded by Doris Murph. TREASURER S REPORT Herbie Smith provided the report. VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT Bob Haugh called for the following committee reports: SOCIAL: Freddie recapped the following: February 27: Trip to Findlay OH with Glass City Corvette club. Let Tom Murph know if interested. March dinner out: Boris Tirpack is planning a dinner out at BJ s Brewhaus in Beavercreek OH. More information to follow. April 9: Dinner out at Chappy s Social House, 7800 Washington Village Dr., Centerville. Reservations are for 6:00 p.m. Notify Dan and Donna Tucker, dtucker873@gmail.com, or call 937-545-2216 if you would like to attend. May 7: Bud s Cruise-In, St. Mary s OH. May 13-15: Trip to Biltmore Estates. Rooms ($140.00 per night) and Biltmore Tour tickets ($42.80) are still available. Phone number is 828-665-4000 extension 0 to reserve room reservations. August 6: Fort Thomas Corvette cruise-in to benefit Cancer Research. More information to follow. October 21: Dinner out and tales of hauntings at Hammel House in Waynesville OH. Hosted by Larry and Terri Kopa. More information to follow. MEMBERSHIP: Carol Tavener said that we 102 members. She will be sending out an updated list. Carol also said that she has a new catalog to order shirts. PUBLIC RELATIONS: No report. EDITOR/ WEBMASTER: No report. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR: No report. Old Business Freddie stated that a few rooms are still available for the May 13-15 trip to Biltmore in Ashville NC. Freddie has 36 members (20 corvettes) for the Dayton Dragons game and Corvette display for Sunday, July 17. Let her know if you would like to attend and show your Corvette. Tom Murph will lead a caravan on February 27, to Findlay OH. Plans are to meet at the Home Depot at I-75 and US 36 in Piqua at 8:30 a.m. Members will meet up with Glass City Corvette Club at Miller Custom Street Rods and Vettes. After that will be a visit to a Custom Shop building a replica 1953 Corvette. Lunch will be at the Dark Horse Tavern. If interested in making the trip, let Tom know as soon as possible. A social chairperson is still needed. Freddie will talk to a member who might be interested at the March meeting. New Business On February 9 Freddie conducted a closed E-Board meeting. The following was discussed: Progressive dinner was scheduled for August 13. Freddie is looking for members who live north to host. Herb and Judy will host the appetizer portion. GDCC s banquet will occur at the Presidential Banquet Center on December 3. There will be a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, and gift exchange.

Freddie indicated that she and Judy Smith will chair the cruise-in at Giovanni s. Judy provided the following information: - Cruise-in is scheduled for June 5 from 11:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. - Entry fee was increased from $5.00 to $10.00. Each driver will receive a door prize ticket. - The following members have agreed to chair a committee. Members are still needed to help with each committee and will only need to volunteer for an hour. Carol Tavener Door prizes Larry & Terri Kopa Chinese auction Collecting entry fee and parking Bob Haugh Publicity Bob Sledge 50/50 - George Frymyer T-shirt sales Bob & Carol Miller - Bob Sledge designed an awesome flyer advertising the cruise-in. - Judy will check with Tony Spaziani to inquire if Tony would like some or all of the flyer design on the back of t-shirts that will be sold. - Walt Barner will provide DJ services. - Proceeds from the cruise-in will go to our charities. Judy received a letter from Northmont City Schools asking for donations to support their after prom on April 16. The after prom which provides a drug and alcohol free environment will be held at the Montgomery Career Tech Center. Judy motioned that the Club donate $100.00 for Northmont s after prom. Seconded by Sara Myers. Motion carried. Ken Huff introduced himself and said that he is a retiree from the base. He said that the United Service Organization (USO) has facilities at major airports in Ohio and will be opening one at Wright-Patterson AFB. Once the USO is open he will make a motion for the Club to make a donation. On March 18-19 a black tie gala will be held at the student union at The Ohio State University to benefit Ohio USOs. If anyone has any activities that they think the Club would be interested in doing, let Freddie know. George Frymyer conducted the 50/50 drawing which was won by Carol Tavener: $39.00.
