From the Most Official Authentic and Private Sources", History of Howard and Chariton Counties, Missouri, St. Louis National Historical Company 1883, page 121, Joseph T. and George M. Windsor, farmers. These gentlemen, enterprising and promising young farmers of Salisbury township, were born on the homestead where they now live. They are only surviving sons of a family of seven children, but three of whom are now living, of N. J. windsor, deceased, and his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Windsor. both parents were natives of Caswell county, North Carolina, the father born Octover 25, 1823, the mother in 1827. They were married in 1846. Removing to this State, they settled in Chariton county, and here the father died. their only other surviving child is now the wife of Mr. George finnell, of this county. Mrs. Windsor, the mother was a daughter of Thomas and Anna Gunn, mentioned in the sketch of her brother, Asa gunn, to be seen on a preceding page. She was the twelfth of their ffamily of children. She still lives on the homestead of herself and her late husband, which consists of 160 acres of excellent land in a good state of improvement and cultivation. Her two sons live on the farm with her and have charge of the place. They were brought up to habits if industry and economy, and in youth were given good common school educations. They are young men of more than ordinary intelligence, of honorable instincts and of abundant energy, and are conducting the farm with a vigor and success that show them to be young farmers of the fairest promise. 29.
