2 Month wise breakup of topics: August 2014: Festivals in Islam () The two main festivals of Islam are: Eid ul Fitr Eid ul Azha On these occasion Muslims express their thanks to Allah, offer prayers and feed the poor, the orphans and the widows. Eid ul Fitr: It is celebrated on first of Shawwal after the month of Ramazan. It is an act of thanksgiving to Allah for giving us the strength to keep the fast in Ramazan. The head of house hold is required to pay Sadaqah-tul-Fitr on behalf of his children; this is either 1.63 kilos of wheat or its price at the market rate. Sadaqah-tul-Fitr is paid to the poor and needy, disabled, orphans and widows before Eid prayer. Muslims bathe and wear their best clothes, apply perfumes and eat something sweet before going to prayer. Eid-ul-Azha: Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on 10 th ZilHajj. It is a festival to thank Allah of the performance of annual pilgrimage to Ka aba. It meant to remind Muslims of the great sacrifice made by Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S), when he was asked by Allah to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail (A.s) It taught us the lesson to sacrifice our dearest possessions for the sake of Allah. The meat of the sacrificial animal is divided into three parts: For poor and needy For relatives, friends and neighbours For ourselves. The skin of the animal should be given to the poor or its price may be given for educational and social needs of the poor Muslims. Eid prayer is offered in an open place called Eid gah. There is no Azan or Iqamat for Eid prayer. 1. Name the two festivals of Islam. 2. To whom should Sadaqah-tul-Fitr be paid? 3. Why is Eid-ul-Azha celebrated? Discussion on Eid celebration will be conducted. Ahadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) Unit 3 Pages: 30-31 Hadith-e-Nabavi means the words of our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) The famous books of Hadith-e-Nabavi known as Saha Sittha. They are: Sahih Bukhari Sahih Muslim Sunan Abu Dawood Sunan Ibn Majah Jamae al Tirmizi If we follow the teaching of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) Allah Almighty will be very pleased with us. In the Holy Quran Allah says he who obeys the Messenger obeys Allah 1. Define Hadith. 2. Name the most authentic books of Ahadiths. What is the collection of these books known as? Students will be asked to make a booklet and write few habits that they have adopted according to the Hadith and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).

3 September 2014: Backbiting Pages: 28-29 Backbiting means to talk ill of people behind their backs. Allah intensely dislikes people who backbite. Hadith-e-Nabavi says One who backbites will never enter Paradise A person who backbites would lose his respect in society and people will look down on him with contempt and dislike. It creates hatred in the hearts and is a cause for quarrel among people. 1. What is the meaning of backbiting? 2. How do we avoid backbiting? Students will prepare a skit on the topic and present it in the morning assembly. Dignity of Work Pages: 25-27 Working with our own hand is noble and great. There is nothing shameful about working with our own hands. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) worked with his own hands. When he was 12 years old he used to take his sheep for grazing. He used to milk the goats and also did chores for neighbours. Even after the Prophet hood, he worked with his own hands. When Masjid e Nabavi was being built Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) used to carry bricks and mud with his own hands like a common labourer. Allah Almighty Himself said in the Holy Quran: And whosever strives, he strives only for himself (Surah Al Ankabut, Verse: 06) 1. What work did our beloved Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) do? 2. What are the benefits of hard working? Students will be asked to clean the ground of the school and they will be encouraged to throw the trash in dustbins. October 2014: Hazrat Fatima (R.A) Hazrat Fatima (R.A) was the youngest daughter of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). She was married to Hazrat Ali (R.A) in 2 A.H. The dowry that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) gave her consisted of one cot, a leather pillow filled with the fiber of a palm tree, a water carrier, two earthen pitchers and two hand-mills. Six months after the death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H), Hazrat Fatima (R.A) also died. Hazrat Fatima had five children. She was the most beloved daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). She resembled to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Her style of talking, sitting and standing were exactly the same as that of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) Sample Question: 1. Write a note on the life of Hazrat Fatima (R.A)

4 Ashab-e-Kahf Long time ago a cruel King lived who forced people to worship him. The ignorant and foolish people worshipped him. There were a few young men who were not ready to believe the King. They tried to find out their real God and searched for truth. Allah gave them guidance and strengthened their hearts. The King ordered to kill the pious people. The Pious people left the town and lived in the cave. Allah sent a sound and peaceful sleep upon them and they slept for hundreds of years. These people are called Ashab-e-Kahf or people of the cave. 1. Why did the pious people live in the cave? 2. What do you understand from the story of Ashab e Kahf? November 2014: Revision for Mid-Year Examination December 2014: Mid-Year Examination January 2015: Arrogance Page: 22-24 The word arrogance means to be proud or haughty. It makes a person believe that he is far more superior to others and forgets that it is only Allah Almighty who is Supreme and Superior. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) dislikes proud and vain people. He said A person, who has as much pride as a mustard seed will never enter Paradise 1. What is meant by arrogance? Explain with example. 2. What has Allah Almighty and our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said about arrogance? Importance of Punctuality in Islam () Islam teaches us to be punctual in our daily life. We all havebeen given a limited period of time, so we must not waste that time. Everything in nature follows a discipline and keeps proper timings. It teaches us the value of time and helps us to discipline our lives and to have an order and a system in our work. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), very clearly taught us the value of time, why we must not waste it and how we can make use of our time wisely to increase our Imaan (Faith) and thus attain success, especially eternal success in the life hereafter. 1. How does Islam teaches us to be punctual? 2. What are the benefits of punctuality? 3. What did Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) say about being punctual? Students will be asked to share their experiences how good it makes them feel to be punctual. February/March 2015 The Makkan Life of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) The Advent of Islam Invitation to family members to accept Islam Event of Mairaj Pages: 36-43,64-67 Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was born in the city of Makkah on 12 th Rabi-ul-Awwal 570 AD At that time Makkah was enveloped in the darkness of sinful uncivilized ignorance. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) received his first revelation at the age of 40 years. The first word revealed in Cave of Hira was Iqra means to Read.

5 This experience was totally new for Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H), who became terrified and started to tremble. He shared his experience with his wife Hazrat Khadija (R.A). Hazrat Khadija (R.A) shared this incident with her cousin Waraqah Bin Naufil. After the first revelation Angel Jibrael (A.S) used to visit Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) for further revelations. The first persons who accepted Islam were: o Hazrat Khadija (R.A), his wife and first woman. o Hazrat Abu Bakar (R.A), his friend and first man. o Hazrat Ali (R.A), his cousin and the first youth. o Hazrat Zaid Bin Haris (R.A), his servant After three years of the first revelation Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) started inviting people towards Islam. People who did not live in Makkah also started to accept Islam. This made Kuffar anxious and they planned to kill Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). The word Mairaj means to reach upwards, towards height but here it refers to the sacred and auspicious journey to the Heaven of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). It occurred in two stages on the 27 th night of Rajab. The name of the horse of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was Burraq. On the first sky he met Hazrat Adam (A.S), on second Hazrat Isa (A.S) and Hazrat Yahya (A.S), on the third sky he met Hazrat Yusuf (A.S), on the fourth he met Hazrat Idrees (A.S), on the fifth Hazrat Haroon (A.S) on the sixth he met with Hazrat Musa (A.S) and the last he met with Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S). He also saw the Steams of Kauser, Paradise and various scenes of rewards and punishments. Finally he reached Sidra-tul-Muntaha. 1. Write the translation of the first revelation. 2. Write the names of the first people who accepted the Islam. 3. Write in the correct order the names of the Prophets (A.S) who met Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) on the seven levels of skies.
