Page 3 SEPTEMBER 2017 Seenager I am a Seenager. I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later I don t have to go to school or work. I get an allowance every month. I have my own pad. I don t have a curfew. I have a driver s license and my own car. The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant. And I don t have acne. Life is great. I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row. I decided to stop calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning. Old age is coming at a really bad time. When I was a child I thought Nap Time was a punishment. Now, as a grownup, it feels like a small vacation. The biggest lie I tell myself is "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it." I don't have grey hair; I have "wisdom highlights." Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet. Why do I have to press one for English when you're just going to transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway? Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice. At my age "Getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I came in there for. I have more friends I should talk to, but right now I can t remember their names.
Page 4 SEPTEMBER 2017 MESSAGE FROM THE PGP The great entertainer Bob Hope's theme song was Thanks for the Memories." Let's all try and make this year one that we will look back on with gratitude and say thanks for the memories. This should be a great year for our chapter, as we are the host chapter for the Mid-Winter Meeting in February in San Diego and our 2018 Grand Convention in Salt Lake City in June. It is easier said then done but if we could all bring in one new member, we, of course, would double our membership. So, let's all make this effort and make it happen. We start off our year on Tuesday, September 12, with a great speaker and friend, Mr. Paul Rolly, of the Salt Lake Tribune. Also, a secret that president Mike has kept under wraps is that our chapter did come out with a national award at the grand convention in Seattle and that will be revealed at the luncheon. So, let's all try and make this a truly memorable year for everyone...stan
Page 5 SEPTEMBER 2017 Fellow Footprinter s and friends. I hope this bulletin finds you in good health. We are starting off the luncheon season with guest speaker Paul Rolly. I am hoping to also present a plaque to the deserving officer who, from the Grand Chapter, is receiving the Law Enforcement Officer-of-the-Year Award. Thank you to those members who responded to my repeated emails this summer asking for comments and suggestions on various topics. Thank you to those Footprinters who attended the 6th Annual Day of Hope Charity Car Show on August 12th.; raising monies for the Salt Lake County Children s Justice Center. Sheriff Jim Winder has moved on and is the new Chief of Police of the Moab City Police Department. I have printed a photograph which you can sign, showing our appreciation to him for his years of support to this organization. It will be presented to him at a later time. I would like to suggest 2 fundraisers, 1 to benefit the Third District Court Veterans Court, the other to benefit the Victim Services Unit of the District Attorney s Office. More information to follow. Your ideas, suggestions are need for the planning of the Footprinter Grand Convention. I need your help. P.S. Plan on attending the Mid-Winter meeting in San Diego the first week of February/2018 where our chapter will be hosting the first ever Grand Chapter Super Bowl party. A very big and special THANK YOU to you all for supporting this organization. Mike - the editor
