With the Teen Challenge/Spiritual Soldiers Outreach, we had been so busy that it was hard to find the time to sit down and do anything else. Plus we always want the ministry that goes into these Newsletters to be fresh and anointed, not rushed or thrown together. We don't ever want to just hurry to get them out, we want them to be right as they go so that everyone gets what the Lord would have them to have. We should be back on track soon, Lord willing. Street Smarts Written by Kiley Mullins The other day at work I had an interesting conversation. I'm not sure how aware you all are of the new app on phones of "Pokemon Go", but this game has caused a major uproar as it has caught kids off guard and they have sometimes wandered into danger. The game itself is an app that allows you to walk around in the real world, while the game tracks your movements and sends you on adventures of capturing Pokemon on the phone. Pokemon itself has been around since the early 90's and has a huge following from kids and adults alike. So when this app came out, it too had a huge following. The conversation that I began this article about, was one that I had with a customer at the bank. He is a garbage truck driver and has one of the garbage trucks with the large hydraulic arm on the side that raises the cans to the back of the truck and then sets them back down on the curb. He was telling me how stressful it has been on him because of these kids playing this game. He said that twice that day alone, he had to physically get out of his truck to go and move kids out of the way of the arm and the cans. He had tried to get then attention first, but they didn't even acknowledge him. When he had to move them he tried to explain the danger they were in because the arm could have came down on them and killed them. But they didn't even recognize his warning and just kept doing what they were doing. As I thought about that conversation throughout my day, I began to see the similarities in our world today with that of Spiritual awareness. I was looking at the situation and remembering while I was growing up, we didn't have all the technology that we have today. We would ride our bikes, play in the dirt, wander our neighborhoods for things to do. But all the while doing these things, we had been taught and trained how to look both ways before crossing the street, we knew who was safe and who wasn't, we were aware of our surroundings and the dangers we might possibly face and how to keep safe from those dangers. We weren't easily distracted, because we had a responsibility within us that had been taught. As kids the last 20 years or so have been growing, that awareness is fading away. This is why these 2 kids could have easily been killed by the garbage truck arm, because they were so focused in a little screen, they had no idea what was around them. Kids have been self taught or taught by tv, neither of the 2 bring awareness of then surroundings. Fantasy is preferred over reality and they really don't even know what they are missing or what is around them. There is no responsibility nor is there accountability for themselves or the community around them. They have no idea of the consequences that may face them in then decisions or actions. Taking this in a spiritual aspect, I can look around at the generation of Christians growing up in the same light of technology. It is easier to sit at home and watch a tv screen preacher then to get out of bed and get dressed on Sunday morning. They too aren't truly getting the entire reality of what they are hearing or seeing. Seeing something on screen is so different then seeing it or partaking of it in real hfe. Because even though you can learn and even though things may touch you on an emotional level of where you are at, that screen allows for a disconnect from the body. If that is the only place you are hearing, it causes a barrier to grow that you may not even be aware of. Because you are not truly moving in the midst of being with other believers. You are separated from the flock, which is a dangerous place to be. Jesus said that he is in the midst of 2 or more believers. But if you keep yourself separated from physical believers, then you are missing a huge part of the Spirit of the Lord being in your midst. Christians who just sit and watch tv ministries often have the same unawareness of then spiritual surroundings then those children who weren't getting out of the way of the truck arm. If people aren't aware of then surroundings in the natural, we can't expect them to be aware in the Spiritual. There is so much more growth and teaching when you are physically taking part in prayer, evangelism, outreach, etc. It is becoming Spiritually Street Smart. I can watch a cop show all day long but it doesn't mean I'm a cop, nor does it mean I have the authority, ability or education to be one, even though I might know all the lingo I am hearing. Without the real hfe experience and physical application, it means nothing. There are some fabulous tv preachers out there, but if that is the only place we are looking, then we are limiting God in our lives in away that we don't even realize. We are becoming latchkey kids of the Kingdom, being raised on peanut butter and jelly trying to find joy in our own solace. When in fact He wants us to be hens to the throne, participating in a kingdom lifestyle that whl be our eternity. He wants us moving and growing not just watching. He wants us to see the dangers around us and know how to protect ourselves and others through His authority and power. I'm pretty sure we can't possibly stress the Holy Spirit out like that truck driver, but if we could I'm sure we've made Him physically get out of the truck to move us out of the way a few times when we weren't paying attention. We need to be with other believers, we need to be moving in the Spirit and listening to the Lord's teaching so that we can be street smart.

God's Protection By Linda Mullins When I was a little girl, I got hit in the back of the head with a hand scythe. The doctors said I could die on the operating table and if I didn't, I would be messed up for hfe. I had a cracked skuh and hah had gotten on my brain. Prayers went out and well, here I am today. God is good and a great healer. The reason I mention this is, because of the surgery, a hole the size of a half dollar had been taken out of my skuh and only skin was left over it. I was told I could not let anything near that spot on my head because if anything penetrated it, I could die. I could not run or do any sports because it would cause that area to start throbbing and I would pass out. It would take years for the skuh to grow back. This planted a fear in me that people much less kids my age, couldn't understand. Teachers who knew, would make me do sports that they thought I should be able to do but when I would pass out, then I was placed on the side line only to be made fun of because the kids didn't understand. I became a weakling in everyone's eyes including some of the teachers. I look back now and think how sad. When I should have been taken care of and watched, for what I had been through. Teachers should have been protective, the kids should have been told and because of this, I began to have a low self esteem. I didn't have the best home hfe and now school was even worse. That low self esteem carried with me through high school but my love for the Lord all those years was what kept me going and sustained me. I knew it was the Lord that had healed me and I knew the Lord loved me and I loved Him. So many people today have hurts and problems, low self esteems and broken relationships. Children without parents and parents without then children, divorces on one end and people living together in sin on the other. Drugs, alcohol, pornography, witchcraft, and hate plague our nation and sin is rising more and more everyday around us and in so many of our own homes. It's time for a break-through and it's only going to come through Jesus Christ! It is time to take our problems, give them to the Lord, believing for our answer so that we can start being the answer for others. It's time to beheve that God is going to move and answer prayers. It's time to add people to our prayer hsts. It's time to come together in one accord, in one Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord. We all have battles, and at some point in believing, we should also have victories. Some battles are harder than others yes, but God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Trust Him, love Him, praise Him, hve all that you can hve for Him. When our time is over and we are standing before the King, do we have any idea of what answers we might give Him when He asks, " Did you trust Me?" "How many did you tell ofme?" "Did you love Me with all that you are?" Jesus is coming for a bride without spot or wrinkle. We are not perfect by any means, but we are to strive toward perfection. I can't imagine the hurt Jesus must have felt when He was praying in the garden and came to the disciples that went with Him and found them sleeping. Can you imagine? Jesus was getting ready to give His hfe and knew what He was going to go through, but the disciples slept. Jesus asked them, "can you not stay awake?" Jesus came back the second time and again they were sleeping. People all around us are hurting. Are we sleeping? Are our eyes closed to the things around us? Is Jesus saying to us, "Can you not stay awake?" Are you awake? Do you spend time in the Word of God? Do you spend quality time in prayer? Do you have the right answers when the King asks you " What did you do far the Kingdom of God? " Are you ready for that day? I was 8 years old when I got hurt and God has healed my head but the hurt that was accumulated over all the years after that no one but the Lord whl ever know. The hurt, the fears and the pain. I thank the Lord everyday for what He has done in my hfe and for what He has healed in my hfe. I pray that the Lord whl be your strength and your hope in faith knowing that nothing is impossible for God and that nothing is impossible for those that beheve! Love you ah!!!
