4 WELCOME TO ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH & TIPTON IOWA WWW.STMARYSTIPTON.NET REFLECTION J esus took Peter, James, and his brother, John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and do not be afraid." And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. QUESTION OF THE WEEK Theme: Jesus appears glowing with light. Moses and Elijah appear with him. STEP ONE: LISTEN TO THE WORD As you listen to this Scripture story today, what is one word or thought that really struck you? What image do you take away from this reading? STEP TWO: LOOK INTO YOUR LIFE Question for Children: How do you show that you listen to Jesus? Question for Youth: How does your faith in Jesus as the Son of God affect your life? Question for Adults: When have you had a transfiguration experience? What was it like? As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, "Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead." MT 17:1-9 Do you have high cholesterol or high blood pressure? Have members of your family suffered from these ailments? Do you have a poor diet? If you answer yes to any of these questions, you may want to consider being screened through the services of Life Line Screening. Life Line Screening uses ultrasound technology to view the plaque build up in your carotid arteries, the main arteries that carry blood to the brain. Blockages in these arteries are a leading cause of stroke. We are pleased to host this Life Line Screening event on 8/28/2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church - Parish Hall. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. In order to register for this event and to receive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129, please call 1-888-653-6441 or visit www.lifelinescreening.com/ communitycircle or text the word circle to 797979
