Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church Guidelines for Remote Preparation Confirmation Procedures CLASS PARTICIPATION AND REQUIREMENTS Class participation, completion of requirements and all paperwork are essential for the preparation of Confirmation. A test will be given in the eighth grade. A student who fails to fully participate in all requirements may be considered NOT PROPERLY PREPARED for the reception of Confirmation at this time. It may be recommended that Confirmation be deferred until a later date. CANDIDATE COMMITMENT FORM Candidate Commitment forms will be handed out in class during November. These forms will be due to the Religious Education office by December 6, 2017. ENROLLMENT MASS All seventh grade students will attend an Enrollment Mass with their parents on February 4, 2018. See the attached list of Important Dates for your assigned time. CERTIFICATION OF BAPTISM Please provide a copy of your child s baptismal certificate. Instructions are included in this packet. This is critical for the recording of the sacrament in the Parish Sacrament Registry. This is due to the Religious Education office by January 10, 2018. CONFIRMATION NAME/SAINT RESEARCH A Saint s name should be chosen at Confirmation as a role model or inspiration for our imitation. The name symbolizes a new identity as a disciple of Christ. It is important that the candidate studies and knows about the life of his/her patron saint. The Saint Report is due to the Religious Education office by March 21, 2018. SERVICE Service commitments require conviction, good will, enthusiasm, generosity, and responsibility. Candidates are asked to select a service project in the areas of Church, Family, and/or Community. They are encouraged to view this as the beginning of a lifetime of service to others. Students will begin their service in seventh grade and complete it in the fall of eighth grade. A Service Summary is provided to record service activity for Religious Education students. This Service Summary must be reviewed and signed by the candidate s parents and returned to the Religious Education Office by November 14, 2018. A service project is required of Saint Gregory the Great Academy students. Please see your religion teacher for more information. CONTACT INFORMATION All forms should be returned to Saint Gregory the Great Office of Religious Education, 4680 Nottingham Way Hamilton Square, NJ 08690. If you have any questions, please contact the Religious Education Office (609) 587-1131, ext. 228 or chouck@stgregorythegreat.org.
