SINAI The land between the rivers. Abraham s home territory. The land God promised to Abraham. It was occupied by people cursed by God. The river. Flowed south from Mts. of Ararat past Babylonia and Ur. The western border of Canaan. Where Noah s ark landed. Where the Tower of Babel was built. Abraham s birthplace. Abraham moved here with his family before traveling alone to Canaan. Where Joseph ruled and the Israelites were enslaved. Abraham and Keturah s very cunning descendants. Moses fled from Pharaoh to Midian and married a Midianite. Israel crossed it on dry land when leaving Egypt. Where Israel received the Law and the Old Testament began. KADESH-BARNEA SYRIA LEBANON The south border of Canaan, where Israel was camped when 1) Moses sent the 12 spies into Canaan. 2) Moses struck the rock to which he should have spoken. Nearby, at Mamre, are buried Abraham & Sarah, Isaac & Rebekah, and Jacob & Leah. David reigned over Judah here for seven and one-half years. Saul began his reign by rescuing this city from Ammon. The men of this city came by night and rescued the bodies of Saul and his sons from the walls of Beth-shean. God chose it to be capital of the United Kingdom of Israel. The first city in Canaan conquered by Joshua and Israel. The capital of Ammon.

The first capital of Israel, being the first permanent location for the tabernacle in Canaan. It was forsaken by God. Where Israel was camped when Moses died. Where Moses numbered Israel the 2 nd time, after the forty years of Wilderness Wanderings. Where Lot lived before it was destroyed for immorality. Jacob wrestled with an angel here. Jacob s name changed to Israel here. With Hebron and Shechem, these were Israel s Cities of Refuge.

Largest mountain in this region. Northeast of the Sea of Chinneroth. Two mountains in the center of Canaan's land. Shechem lies between them in the valley. Where Saul and Jonathan died. A contest between Jehovah and the gods was held there (2Kings). The gods lost. Along with the Salt Sea, the eastern border of Canaan's land. The brook which divides Ephraim and Manasseh. The river which flows past Mt. Carmel into the Great Sea. SEAS FOR THIS SAME SECOND MAP #2 SEAS GREAT SEA SALT SEA SEA OF- CHINNERETH The western border of Canaan. Part of the eastern border of Canaan. The Jordan River empties into it. The principle source of the Jordan.

The nation due north of Israel. Invaders in Canaan s land who possessed permanently a huge part of Judah s territory along the Great Sea. An implacable enemy of Israel to the northeast. TERRITORIES FOR THIS SAME THIRD MAP #2 TERRITORIES CANAAN GILEAD BASHAN NEGEV Where the descendants of cursed Canaan lived. The land which was promised by God to Abraham. The hill country east of the Jordan River. The hill country east of the Sea of Chinneroth. It is known for its fat cattle. The desert area in southern Canaan and extending farther south.
