WORSHIP Next Sunday, April 22 Morning worship: We will welcome Brad Zwiers, a candidate for ministry in the Christian Reformed Church and our search committee's recommendation for our Minister of Faith Formation. He will preach from John 10:22-33, "The Sheep Know the Shepherd's Voice." Brad is a graduate of Western Theological Seminary and has served as a Christian high school chaplain. The offering will be for 70X7, the prison and re-entry ministry organization that includes Criminal Justice Chaplaincy. Evening worship We will welcome Beverly Weeks, who will preach from Isaiah 2:5-22, "Walking in the Light!" The offering will be for the Eastown Community Association. Staff News: Pastor Rebecca is on study leave today and will be back in the office later this week. She is in town and can be contacted in case of emergency. Pastor Jake will be on vacation April 16-30. If you desire pastoral care during that time, please contact your district Elder, Pastor Rebecca, or the church office. COUNCIL NEWS Our new council term begins in May, and there will be openings for four Elders and five Deacons. The following persons have agreed to serve as Elder: Dave Dykgraaf, Dan Hubka, Rodger Rice, LeRoy Stegink. The following persons have agreed to serve as Deacon: Jesslyn DeBoer, Nate Dierlam, Leanne Hendrikse, Tom Prince, Bruce Tiejema. At a congregational meeting after the morning worship service on April 22, members of Calvin Church will be invited to vote to approve this list of names. New Elders and Deacons will be installed on Sunday, May 6. CHURCH FAMILY The flowers in the sanctuary today have been given by Marcia and Cornie Huizinga (District 7) in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary on April 18. Congratulations to Kris Kamper (district 8) and Jim Ippel, who were married on April 7. We pray for God's richest blessings in their new marriage. CALVIN ALUMNI CHOIR CONCERT: In her final concert as the Music Director of the Calvin Alumni Choir, Pearl Shangkuan will lead the choir in a signature program of choral music through the ages filled with joy, grace and hope. Works by Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Gjeilo, Forrest, and more will be featured, along with beautiful arrangements of beloved hymns. The world premiere of a new commission of two Fanny Crosby hymns entitled Beyond the River and arranged by Calvin graduate and faculty member Sean Ivory will be a special highlight. ATTENTION ALL FISHERMEN: The Calvinist Cadet Corps is hosting its sixteenth annual fishing tournament to raise funds to support its ministry helping boys grow spiritually in all areas of life.
