But be on your guard. Don't let the sharp edge of your expectation for God s Kingdom get dulled by parties and drinking and shopping. Otherwise, that Final Day is going to take you by complete surprise, spring on you suddenly like a trap, for it's going to come on everyone, everywhere, at once. Luke 21.34-36

Take a moment to pause and give God the run of

Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? Is there anywhere I can be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you're there! If I go underground, you're there! If I flew on morning's wings to the far western horizon, You'd find me in a minute You're already there waiting! Then I said to myself, "Oh, he even sees me in the dark! At night I'm immersed in the light! It's a fact: darkness isn't dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they're all the same to you. Psalm 139.7-12

You can't keep your true self hidden forever; before long you'll be exposed. You can't hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known. You can't whisper one thing in private and preach the opposite in public; the day's coming when those whispers will be repeated all over town. Luke 12.2-3

Take a moment to pause and give God the run of Your College or Work

At work, do what you're told by your earthly masters. And don't just do the minimum that you have to do. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you'll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you're serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does poor work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn't cover up bad work. Colossians 3.22-25

Do not get drunk, which cheapens your life. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5.18

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him-colossians 3.17

Don't you realize that this is not the way to live? Unjust people who don't care about God will not be joining in his kingdom. Those who use and abuse each other, use and abuse sex, use and abuse the earth and everything in it, don't qualify as citizens in God's kingdom. A number of you know from experience what I'm talking about, for not so long ago you were on that list. Since then, you've been cleaned up and given a fresh start by Jesus, our Master, our Messiah, and by our God present in us, the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6.9-11

How do you spend your leisure time? Do you think your leisure time matters to God?

How does the time you spend at Church make a difference to the rest of your week?

How does your corps make the world a better place?

Think about the activities in your home corps. Why do we do what we do?

What do you think pleases God about your corps? What do you think God would want to be different?

How do we know that God has our hearts and that we re not just following the rituals of our church traditions?

I can't stand your religious meetings. I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions. I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals. I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations and image making. I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. When was the last time you sang to me? Do you know what I want? I want justice oceans of it. I want fairness rivers of it. That's what I want. That's all I want. Amos 5.21-25

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. -Isaiah 58.6-8

Your corps Watch the DVD how does this challenge you about your attitude to church?

Your church Write your prayers for The Salvation Army and place them on the mercy seat
