s i m p ly WINTER 2017

SIMPLY JESUS It can be overwhelming! It s the Christmas season, complete with gatherings, gifts, programs, dinners, trees, lights, ornaments, and dozens of activities. Of all the times of the year, Christmas can be the busiest. It s easy to let the intensity of the season rob us of enjoying its true meaning simply Jesus. Yes, it s all about Jesus. It s about His birth, His life, His love, and His power to transform lives. That s it. That s all this season is about. I deeply desire the NMC family to use laser focus during this Christmas season. Don t let anything distract from the reason for the season. Enjoy the family gatherings, the trees, the lights, the parties with friends and family. But remember what it s all about simply Jesus. Don t let anything steal the joy of the real celebration. This year, Christmas need not be all about the festivities. Let s make it all about: SIMPLY JESUS! Use Your IRA to Support Ministries and Save on Taxes The IRA Charitable Rollover, originally enacted in 2006 and extended several times, has been made permanent. If you have an IRA and need to take a Required Minimum Distribution, the IRA Charitable Rollover can help you decrease your tax liability and support NMC or other ministries. Here are the details: Benefits: The gift counts towards the minimum required distribution. You can give up to $100,000 per year to qualifying charities from an IRA, and the distribution does not count as taxable income to you. Even if you don t itemize deductions on your tax return, you can benefit from the IRA Charitable Rollover. The gift decreases income (instead of increasing deductions like most charitable gifts). Requirements: You must have reached age 70 ½. Gift must be made directly from your IRA to the charity. This opportunity is only available for IRA s. It can t be used with a 403(b), 401(k), or other retirement plans. Please be sure to check with your accountant about the IRA Charitable Rollover. If you would like more information, please contact Margie Helmuth in the Church Office at 574.773.7773 or MargieHelmuth@nmc.church.

The Greater middle East initiative While many nonprofits and ministries are getting out of the Middle East, the Lord has clearly called NMC to partner with Michel Khalil and his family to embark on a new venture in this region. The mission is simple to make fully committed disciples. This partnership will focus on training and resourcing national missionaries who are strategically positioned to reach out to underserved people groups in the Middle East. We will link arms with local churches and organizations to recruit and deploy God-called leaders for the purpose of evangelism, church planting, leadership and discipleship training, and outreach to refugees. As a church, we are committed to: Empowering leaders Discipling new believers Equipping believers to share the good news Assisting the Church in the Middle East Raising national missionaries to serve among Muslims meet The Khalils Michel and Roula and their two daughters, Christie and Caitlyn, live in Atlanta, Georgia. Michel and Roula work together with a ministry that empowers, trains, and serves those who are already sharing the Gospel in the Middle East. Born and raised in the Middle East, Michel has a deep passion for this area of the world. As a young man, Michel worked in Sudan as a missionary and has built deep relationships with many of the most influential Christian leaders in the Middle East. Above all else, Michel and Roula have a vision and passion for reaching Muslim men and women for Christ. With their leadership, we are confident that the Lord will do incredible things through this partnership.

3. Worth Sharing December 17, 2017 Luke 2:8-18 Some things just have to be shared! We just can t keep quiet about it! The excitement can t be contained! That s what happens when a life is changed. That s what happens when someone meets Jesus. That s the natural response and instinct to a transformational moment. Some things are worth sharing and the greatest thing to share is Jesus Simply Jesus! The Big Thought God uses unlikely in unusual to share an The Unlikely People: unchanging! They were unlikely because they were... Without formal They were driven by the mindset: Let's...Let's...Let's Their Unlikely Way: Rapid There was a in Spite of Pressing that demanded action. The unchanging message: It's all! So what does this mean to us? 1. are the unlikely people. 2. This is a window of opportunity. 3. We have a in sharing Jesus in the hard places.
