BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW A worldview is the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world. "[It's] any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world and man's relations to God and the world," says David Noebel, author of Understanding the Times. For example, a 2-year-old believes he's the center of his world, a secular humanist believes that the material world is all that exists, and a Buddhist believes he can be liberated from suffering by self-purification. Someone with a biblical worldview believes his primary reason for existence is to love and serve God. Whether conscious or subconscious, every person has some type of worldview. A personal worldview is a combination of all you believe to be true, and what you believe becomes the driving force behind every emotion, decision and action. Therefore, it affects your response to every area of life: from philosophy to science, theology and anthropology to economics, law, politics, art and social order everything. (Focus on the Family) A biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow it to be the foundation of everything you say and do. That means, for instance, you take seriously the mandate in Romans 13 to honor the governing authorities by researching the candidates and issues, making voting a priority. Do you have a biblical worldview? Answer the following questions, based on claims found in the Bible and which George Barna used in his survey: Do absolute moral truths exist? Is absolute truth defined by the Bible? Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life? Is God the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today? Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned? Is Satan real? Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people? Is the Bible accurate in all of its teachings? Did you answer yes to these? Only 9 percent of "born- again" believers did. But what's more important than your yes to these questions is whether your life shows it. Granted, we are all sinners and fall short, but most of our gut reactions will reflect what we deepdown, honest-to-goodness believe to be real and true. (Focus on the Family)

According to Leo Apostel, a worldview is an ontology, or a descriptive model of the world. It should comprise these six elements: [2] 1. An explanation of the world 2. An eschatology, answering the question "where are we heading?" 3. Values, answers to ethical questions: "What should we do?" In this context, "What would Jesus do?" 4. A praxeology, or methodology, or theory of action.: "How should we attain our goals?" 5. An epistemology, or theory of knowledge. "What is true and false?" (See, for example John 18:38) 6. An etiology. A constructed world-view should contain an account of its own "building blocks," its origins and construction. (Wikipedia) DOES YOUR LIFE REFLECT YOUR WORLDVIEW? THE CHRIST FOLLOWER IS REQUIRED TO HAVE A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW Acts 1:7-9 8 but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. " COMMAND TO THE FAITHFUL DISCIPLES TO HAVE AND PRESENT A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST MEN ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO MAKE UP ANY VIEW THEY WISH THE CHRIST FOLLOWER IS GUIDED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT- 2 Pet.1:20; No prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. THE FOUNDATION OF THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW IS TO BE FOUND IN THE BIBLE THE SCRIPTURES ARE THE SOURCE FOR OUR DEVELOPMENT 2 Tim. 3:16; All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW THAT: THE BIBLE IS GOD'S WORD FOR THEIR LIVES: 1. It is useful; profitable.= helpful; advantages; beneficial; serviceable 2. It is the source of absolute truth for all teaching. 3. It allows people to be adequate =(complete; perfect) in this world. 4. It allows people to be equipped= (out completed) thoroughly furnished completely outfitted) to face the world.

PAUL DELIVERS A MESSAGE IN CONTRAST WITH A GREEK WORLDVIEW Acts. 17:21-31; The Gospel message- REFLECTS A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW 21(Now all the Athenians and the strangers visiting there used to spend their time in nothing other than telling or hearing something new.) 22 And Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. 23 "For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.' What therefore you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. 24 "The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25 neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all life and breath and all things; 26 and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said,' For we also are His offspring.' 29 "Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. 30 "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead. " PAUL S MESSAGE HAS SIMPLE TO THESE "VERY RELIGIOUS" PEOPLE.VS.22 PAUL IN NOT INSULTING THESE PEOPLE THOUGH HE CERTAINLY DID NOT AGREE WITH THEIR POSITION. HE STARTS WITH THE FOUNDATION OF THE SCRIPTURES; THE CREATION OF ALL THINGS AND WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT CREATION. 1. Greeks believed in evolution; 2. They believed in many gods and wanted to cover all bases. 1. God is the creator God of all that there is.vs.24 World = " kosmos" = 1. order. 2. Later, the world or universe, as an ordered system. GOD IS A GOD OF ORDER; DESIGN AND PURPOSE. VS. 25..HE HIMSELF GIVES TO ALL LIFE AND BREATH AND ALL THINGS. NAS vs. 26 " He made from one every nation of mankind.

NIV vs 26 " From one man He made every nation of men. KJV vs 26 " And hath made of one blood all nations of men Man = "anthropos" = human being, man; male or female. vs. 30; having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent PAUL SAYS THERE ARE TIMES OF IGNORANCE: PETER AGREES; PEOPLE ESPECIALLY IN THE LATER TIMES WILL BE FOLLOWING A WORLDVIEW FORMED OUT OF THEIR OWN MINDS THEIR OWN DESIRES - 2 Peter 3:3-10 3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation." 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But the present heavens and earth by His word are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW MUST CONSIDER THE PROMISES OF GOD AND HOW THOSE PROMISES FRAME OUR OPINIONS PAUL WARNS TIMOTHY OF FALSE WORLDVIEWS 2 Tim.4:3; For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;...will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths. DOCTRINE = TEACHING INSTRUCTION FROM A MASTER MYTHS TO TEACH FABLES FICTION TALES NOT REAL MYTH= Evolution is one of the greatest lies and myths that men have turned to. a. It is totally anti-god. b. It is totally contradictory to Biblical teaching. PAUL TOLD THE MEN OF ATHENS THEY NEEDED TO REPENT FROM THEIR WRONG THINKING. THEIR WORLDVIEW WAS CONTRARY TO A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW

PETER SAYS THAT GOD IS PATIENTLY WAITING FOR REPENTANCE A TURNING FROM A SELF-CENTERED OR WORLDLY POINT OF VIEW TO A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW HOW DO WE DEVELOP A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW? KNOW AND EXPOSE THE FALSE TEACHINGS OF COMMON WORLDVIEWS IN RESPECT TO A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW. Jude 3-4 3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. JUDE HALF BROTHER OF JESUS WOULD LIKE TO TALK OF THE BLESSINGS OF SALVATION HE IS FORCED BY THE CULTURE TO SPEAK OF FALSE TEACHINGS. CULTURES ARE FULL OF FALSE TEACHERS AND FALSE BELIEFS RESULTING IN A FALSE WORLDVIEWS THE BELIEF IN FALSE TEACHINGS CAN AND DOES DISTORT OR TWIST YOUR WORLDVIEW UNFORTUNATELY THE NORMAL WORLDVIEW IN AMERICA SEEMS A VIEW THAT DENIES THE LORD JESUS CHRIST THE AMERICAN WORLDVIEW FOCUS S ON SELF WHICH IS NOT AMERICAN THE ADULATION OF SELF IS A LIE THAT BEGAN CENTURIES AGO AND HAS EXISTED IN ALL PAGAN CULTURES. Jude 16-19 BE ON THE LOOKOUT- FOR BAD GUYS 16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage. A WORLDVIEW THAT TEACHES THAT MAN IS AT THE CENTER OF THOUGHT AND WHATEVER BENEFITS MAN MOST IS TO BE PURSUED. 17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, "In the last time there shall be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts." 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. WORLDLY MINDED A WORLDVIEW DEVELOPED BY UNGODLY LUSTS A WORLDVIEW BASED ON DEMONS

1 Tim 4:1-5 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, FALL AWAY = PRETEND CHRISTIANS DECEITFUL SPIRITS = SEDUCING SPIRITS DOCTRINES OF DEMONS = doctrines taught about demons or doctrines taught by demons. Teachings which are contrary or opposed to Biblical teachings. WHAT ARE THE DOCTRINES OF DEMONS? Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. OUR STRUGGLE IS NOT WITH MANKIND IT IS WITH THE DARK SPIRITUAL FORCES THAT INFLUENCE, OPPRESS, AND GUIDE MANKIND IF IT FEELS GOOD DO IT WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON YOU ARE FREE TO CHOSE WHATEVER LIFESTYLE YOU WANT GOD, IF HE EXISTS, DOESN T REALLY CARE ABOUT YOU John 8:44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies. THERE IS NO TRUTH IN THE ENEMY OF GOD THEREFORE HE CANNOT SPEAK THE TRUTH THEREFORE ANY TEACHINGS ORIGINATING CONTRARY OR IN OPPOSITION TO THE BIBLE CANNOT BE TRUE EVEN GREAT HARDSHIP AND SUFFERING MAY NOT PRODUCE A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW. Rev 9:19-21 20 And the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21 and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts. EVEN IN THE MIDST OF GOD S WRATH THE TRIBULATION PEOPLE WOULD NOT REPENT OR TURN FROM WICKEDNESS

PAUL TELLS TIMOTHY 1 TIM 4:2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, 3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods, which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude; 5 for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer. MANKIND S CONSCIENCE OR SPIRIT CAN BE HARDENED OR SEARED TO THE TRUTH BY THE INCESSANT TEACHINGS OF THE WORLD AND THE OVERFLOWING REJECTION OF THE TRUTH OF GOD S WORD. HOW DO WE START TO DEVELOP A BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW SANCTIFY THROUGH THE WORD PRAY COMMIT TO GROW IN THE FAITH Jude 20-23 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith; praying in the Holy Spirit; BE STEADFAST IN HOLY SPIRIT LED PRAYER 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. STAY IN LOVE WITH GOD WORK ON YOUR LOVE RELATIONSHIP- ACT AND RESPOND WITH THAT LOVE KNOW WITH CERTAINTY THAT GOD S WORD IS THE MOST USEFUL GUIDANCE TO DEVELOP A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. MEDITATE ON GOD S WORD- THINK IT OVER AND OVER CONSIDER IT FOR ANY AND EVERY SITUATION, PONDER IT, CONVERSE WITH IT Ps 77:12 I will meditate on all Thy work, And muse on Thy deeds. Ps 119:15 I will meditate on Thy precepts, And regard Thy ways. Ps 119:27 Make me understand the way of Thy precepts, So I will meditate on Thy wonders. Ps 119:48 And I shall lift up my hands to Thy commandments, Which I love;

And I will meditate on Thy statutes. Ps 119:78 May the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me with a lie; But I shall meditate on Thy precepts. Ps 119:148 My eyes anticipate the night watches, That I may meditate on Thy word. ALLOW THE WORD TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU Heb 4:12-13 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. THE WORD IS LIVING IT WILL ACCOMPLISH MUCH THE BIBLE IS ABLE TO JUDGE BETWEEN WORLDVIEWS THE BIBLE JUDGES THE INTENTS OF THE HEART NOTHING ESCAPES THE PIERCING OF THE SCRIPTURES Isa 55:11 11 So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. FOR THOSE WITH A DIFFERENT WORLDVIEW? WAIT FOR JESUS TO BESTOW MERCY PRACTICE MERCY Jude;22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; MERCY = to have compassion to be actively compassionate = TO HAVE PITY, TO BE TENDER TO THE NEED Matt 9:27 And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, and saying, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!" Matt 15:22 And behold, a Canaanite woman came out from that region, and began to cry out, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demonpossessed." HAVE GENTLE MERCY ON SOME OF THOSE WHO DOUBT- 1 Cor 9:19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, that I might win the more. 20 And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law, though not being myself under the Law, that I might win those who are under the Law; 21 to those who are without law, as

without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, that I might win those who are without law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. 23 And I do all things for the sake of the gospel, that I may become a fellow partaker of it. 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. FOR THOSE TEACHING AND FOLLOWING A NON-BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW- PRESENT THE MERCY OF JESUS CHRIST FEAR AWAITS FOR OTHERS WHO REFUSE A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW Mark 9:42 "And whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea. 43 "And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, 44[where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW IS AN ACTION THE MESSAGE WE NEED TO PROCLAIM IS THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. a. Everything is created by God b. There is a plan, purpose for our lives. c. We have turned from God's perfect plan. d. We need to repent of that sin. e. Recognize God has provided a way of getting back to Him. f. God has furnished proof to all men. g. By raising Him (Jesus) from the dead. f. Jn.14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, the life no one comes to the father but through me. BE WILLING TO ACT AS AN INSTRUMENT OF SALVATION THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW OF SALVATION Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; 10 for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
