Divine Mercy Sunday 4/27/14 There will be a Divine Mercy Service at 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon the Hour of Great Mercy. Those who are sick may receive the Sacrament of the Sick during this hour. All are invited! St. Faustina Kowalska Apostle of Divine Mercy Sr. Faustina was born in Poland on August 25, 1905. She was the third child in a large, Impoverished Catholic family. She became a nun in 1925 but was so poorly educated that she did very humble tasks in her community. Jesus began appearing to her, however, and chose her to be his Secretary of Divine Mercy. She recorded her visions of the Divine Mercy in her Diary. Sister Faustina died of tuberculosis on October 5, 1938 and was canonized by Pope John Paul II on April 30, 2000. She reminds us: The Lord asks us to do deeds of mercy and these deeds are not new: The Corporal Works of Mercy Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, comfort the prisoners, visit the sick, and bury the dead. The Spiritual Works of Mercy Teach the ignorant, pray for the living and the dead, correct sinners, counsel those who doubt, console the sorrowful, bear wrongs patiently, and forgive wrongs willingly.
