MESSAGE FROM THE COMMITTEES Dear HARI Devotees, The year 2018 started with the New Year Havan which was attended by more than 400 devotees making this the most successful New Year s Havan for many years. This was followed by Makar Sakaranti/Pongal Celebration and many other events such as Vasant Panchami, Maha Shivratri, Holi and Marathi/Kannada/Telegu New Year. Despite inclement weather, hundreds of devotees participated and enjoyed all these programs. We thank all the devotees for their constant support and devotion to our temple. There was a special program for Saraswati Puja on Vasant Panchami led by our HARI School students. The students also participated in dress competition with traditional Indian Attire. This program was a great success and students received a gift of itunes Card celebrating their achievement in field of religion, education and arts. For the next three months, we are celebrating several programs at HARI. Please continue to attend these programs. These are listed in the current edition of HARI Times and our website for your convenience. We started with a theme of operational excellence and growth. The Executive Committee and Board of Trustees have been working hard on this theme's and there are significant progress. We have appointed Manjula Narasimhan as our office Manager. She is there to help and assist with the function of the temple and to serve the devotees. Please stop by to say hello to her on your next visit to the temple. She has been a key in the smooth execution of temple operations from the time she took over last month. The combined BOT and EC will continue to strive to provide necessary services and conveniences required to make your experiences at HARI wholistic and satisfying. To sustain and expand our capabilities to serve you, we are planning to initiate a progressive program of updates and maintenance to our infrastructure. One of the immediate programs is to solve the water problem in the bathrooms. The team is working on a resolution to be implemented ASAP. We know this has caused issues during HOLI program, but as we mentioned in the last letter, this is due to our community and visitors expanding, but rest assured it will be solved shortly One such projects recently completed was the installation of a chair lift for use by our senior community members. We welcome your ideas on other such capability improvement programs for HARI. We will continue to stress on expansion of services offered by HARI School, Youth and Anandam group. As the Hindu religious ambassadors of our community in South Central PA and more particularly in the Greater Harrisburg area, we will work to improve our relations with the other communities at large by participating in initiatives like the Interfaith Prayers, programs like Guru Vandana and conferences to enhance our presence, and leadership. We have initiated a process to improve communication with the community, you should see more information and communication coming from our PR and Executive Team about all these interesting activities shortly. The success and growth of the HARI is and has always been based on the participation and generosity of our members, in donations as well as in kind. We thank each and every one of you for your contributions till date and request that you continue to shower your generosity and support for the continued growth of the HARI. Please take a resolution to help HARI to remain a strong and unified family for years to come and support us. I would urge you to think of your contributions to HARI Trust fund, Capital projects and other programs, please find ways to support the long term sustenance of our institution. Mr. Kumar Piraviperumal Chairman Mr. Atreia Sindiri President 5
