J O Y F U L N O I S E April ISSUE 2014 Jesus is making faith come alive in our lives.. Dear members and friends of Resurrection, Boy, oh boy am I ready for spring During our Lenten season this year we have reflected upon all that might have been stirring within the man Jesus as he approached his final days on earth. We have challenged ourselves to ask, How would we feel if you knew when and how we were going to die? Yes, we all know we will die one day but what we don t know is the when or how. We don t have insight as to whether or not we will have made a difference in the lives of the people around us.our families, our friends or even strangers. We won t know if our efforts were appreciated or even enough. We won t know if we lived life to the fullest. We won t know if we kept God s Commandments and if we will go to be with God upon leaving our earthly body. Not really. But we do, as Christians, have faith and hope that if we live a life for good if we try and make a difference for others, if we recommit our lives daily to being Christians in the truest sense.we too, will, because of the gift of Jesus s sacrifice and the love of God have the eternal life that is promised. In these last days of Lent, continue your reflections and prepare yourself for Holy Week with Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The Resurrection is at hand. plan to join us on Easter Sunday MARK YOUR CALENDAR Sunday Schedule Sunday, April 6 th - 10 a.m. Morning Prayer Sunday, April 13 th - Palm Sunday -10 a.m. TBA music by Rosalee Edington Vestry and Community Center meetings to follow Thursday, April 17 th Maundy Thursday - services available at Christ Church Cathedral - 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 18 th - Good Friday Services 7p.m. - Rev. Page4 During this Lenten season we have celebrated the lives our two long time parishioners, Anna Ruth Jordan and Cuba Robinson. Each woman was unique, strong and powerful in their influence in our extended parish families. I knew Anna Ruth a little better since I can t remember a day that she wasn t involved from the time my family started attending Emmanuel (now Resurrection). My Mother worked hours and hours with Anna Ruth through the Churchwomen, Altar guild and other church social groups. Anna Ruth was an accomplished seamstress with many of our altar linens being made by her hand. The beautiful valances in the Conklin Room were her last gift to us before moving into an assisted living residence. She and I would always have a chuckle about sharing Ground Hogs Day as our birthday and for years we have made a special effort to wish each other good wishes. Cuba was a whirlwind with red hair and from the moment she joined in at Resurrection she made hospitality her job. She volunteered at many of our Churchwomen yard sales, bake sales and

rummage events, always spearheaded the hospitality hour following the Sunday service. In her last years with us she supported Vacation Bible School and brought her beloved grandson with her. one Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. We would love to see you. Most Sundays we enjoy some sweets, coffee and conversation following the service. As we think about their passing let us rejoice for the many gifts they shared while they were with us and the joy that they brought us. An excerpt from the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda says How glorious is life after death! No more will you have to lug about this old baggage of bones, with all its troubles. You will be free in the astral heaven, unhindered by physical limitations. Virginia Woodward Editor Letters to the Editor on any item in the newsletter are welcomed.
