THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT READINGS ARE FOUND IN THE PEW BIBLE. Prayer of Preparation Christ draws close to us. His presence is not announced so much by searing light or angelic song as it is by the gradual recognition of something holy enmeshed in our daily lives: simple as salt, common as bread, as unexpected as a treasure buried in a field! Such is the presence of Christ with us in each ordinary day. Let us praise God with joy! *GATHERING HYMN No. 333 Hail, Thou Once-Despised Jesus Order of Worship *Those who are able, please stand ANNOUNCEMENTS, JOYS AND CONCERNS, AND REGISTRATION HOMES OFFERING- JIM DEVOE IN BABILONE INTERLUDE I Danced in the Morning TIMOTHY ALBRECHT CALL TO WORSHIP MIMI REPP L: We gather in the presence of God, through whom all families on earth receive their life and their name. P: We wish to be strengthened in our inner selves, that Christ may dwell in our hearts. L: We seek to be rooted and grounded in God s love and in the love of Christ which surpasses understanding. P: We come to worship and to praise the source of love and peace. ALL: Glory be to God in the church and in Jesus Christ to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
PRAYER OF PRAISE (U ISO ) MIMI REPP God of all creatures, this morning we are intoxicated by the sweetness of spring, exhilarated by the exuberance of plants- everything that sends down roots, reveals buds, and stretches to the light. God, turn our attention gently to the growth stirring within us, to a presence not as captivating to our senses as it is infinitely precious to our hearts. Christ no longer agonizes in the garden, is no longer fixed upon a cross, no longer lies within the tomb. He is risen, walking the roads that we walk, facing our life shoulder to shoulder with us. Grant us the eyes of faith and trusting hearts, O God, to see our Risen Lord and to hear what he bids us do. Amen. *HYMN No. 319 The Strife Is O er VICTORY PRAYER OF CONFESSION(U ISO ) DOTTIE YODER Loving God, we realize that we have not made our homes the dwelling place for your love that we would like. Too often, we act like individuals who happen to share the same building, rather than family members who care for one another. Help us to renew our commitments to the growth and development of those who share our homes with us. Help us to communicate openly with one another and to show our love in the homes where we live. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON DOTTIE YODER God always hears the prayer of a sincere heart. God, through the saving act of Jesus Christ, has forgiven our sin, and is even now moving to restore in us the true spirit of love. Amen.
