April 2016 For my adventure this month, I decided to venture out of this world, a place actually deep within our mind and spirit. I decided to travel to the other side, beyond the stars. But I couldn t do it alone.
Right off the J train, my mother and I scurried to Mrs. Bal's home. I was nervous. A psychic? A Medium? I don't believe in any of that, right? But a Turkish Coffee reader? I'll bite! I originally saw her featured on The Real Housewives of New York City, and the curiosity overcame me. I decided to make an appointment. See what all of this was about. No expectations. But not objections. I walked right in. Mrs. Bal greeted with a warm welcome! I was expecting a woman of great firmness, serious and mystifying in nature. Like she could read my whole life in my eyes, and she could see my demise as if I were simply a comic book of animation. Instead, she had such a positive vibe, and made me feel so
comfortable. It was like I forgot what I was there for! As we sat down to coffee, it was as if we were old girlfriends getting together for a relaxing evening. We bantered back and forth, talked about home decor, and exchanged the usual pleasantries. She told me to have a positive outlook as I was
sipping the coffee, and it was easy with her! She was an extremely enjoyable, fascinating woman, with an even more fascinating gift. After sipping down the thick Turkish Coffee, she had me place a plate over the cup and move it around. She then took the coffee aside to set. Once settled, she would read the coffee stains on the cup and interpret the meanings. That's when we hit the cards, and that's when we connected with my daddy. After my dad's death, I changed as a person, and I am still trying to be the old me, or at least find out who I am now. Mrs. Bal tapped into that right away, and literally repeated the words of my deepest heart right out of her mouth and to my face. I can't believe she did it. That's when I knew she was the real deal. She connected me with my daddy through a series of quotes that triggered something deep within my instinct. Chills
don t even begin to describe it. Not only did she follow those quotes up with specific details about my dad that nobody knew, she also offered my heart advice. "Why do you change your mind so much? You have to stop doing that. Stop acting like a flip flopping fish, you won't accept your opportunities doing that." She got me! I'm a flip flopping legend. I'm sorry guys. I can't tell you what she said about my romantic life. That's all a secret! But she described three men that were in my life, their occupations, their cars, and if they would come and go into my life. People who know me know that I am very private in the relationship department. None of the information Mrs. Bal gave could be found anywhere on the Internet. Let alone the specific cars of these individuals.
Before Mrs. Bal asked me about my professional life, she read my cards. Immediately she pointed at one card and said, "you have to work with children who have disabilities. This is what you will make a difference in the most." She had no idea I had a Masters in Special Education, and she most certainly had no idea I was on a hiatus from teaching. She then moved to my writing career, also something she did not know about and told me to pursue it, but the special education world was a deeper rooted calling. In my coffee stains, she kept seeing a candle. The candle symbolized guidance and light. My favorite analogy of life is that of light and shine, hence Know Show Glow! Mrs. Bal also discussed my career at length and hit the nail on the head of the crazy roller coaster that is currently happening
with my jobs. Down to the detail. She also saw my "big brown dog," and mentioned his stomach issues. TRUTH. The cards Mrs. Bal read of my mom were also on pointe. She called out my mom about a past health issue and told her just to watch it carefully. Unreal. There were so many personal things Mrs. Bal said to me, I can't say them all here. But trust me, she had me. All of me. And now, I have the most beautiful gift to hold on to. A conversation between me and my daddy in another plane, another place, another world. A bridge finally created. I always used to say; I wish there was a return receipt on our loved ones who pass. Just a simple way to know they have returned and are okay. I got my return to seller receipt. And maybe I could now put certain parts of me back together. I know I will be hanging a photo of the cards and quotes on my wall as a reminder that my prayers
are heard, and I should peacefully keep going in the direction I was meant to go in. Next time, I would love to sit with Mrs. Bal over a cup of Turkish Coffee. But this time, I want to hear about her day, the beautiful children she obviously loves so much, and her plans for the weekend. She is absolutely extraordinary.
