Jesus fulfills the signs and wonders of the kingdom of heaven. He restores health and wholeness to the natural world. In particular, he restores our bodies to their fullness. Despite doing so in secret and telling others not to publicize these events, God s glory is spread far and wide. It is obvious that the Lord s good deeds are hard to keep secret. It is also hard, as the Second Reading points out, for us not to be fooled by what we see and then to judge based on such biases. Perhaps that is why Jesus advice is to keep silent. Let God s good works speak for themselves and not our blind judgements. Jesus, open up our mouths and ears. So we may speak your praises and hear your wonders And not be mistaken by our own thoughts and judgments. How has God opened up your ears and mouth today? Do you wish to hear more or speak more to someone about this experience? If you or someone you know is interested in becoming Catholic and celebrating Baptism, Confirmation and Communion, or if you are from a different denomination and interested in knowing more about being Catholic, please contact Jay Cuasay, Director of Christian Formation at 703-430-0811 ext. 130 or Jay.Cuasay@ctrcc.org. A word from the Pastor Greetings Parishioners and Friends of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. After one week here at Christ the Redeemer, I would very much like to reflect upon a few of the blessings I have seen. Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church is Diverse. Christ the Redeemer is beautifully ethnically diverse. Having grown up in Annandale, VA and having attended Annandale High School, one of the most ethnically diverse high schools in the country, it is very clear to me the beauty of ethnic diversity. Christ the Redeemer is also diverse in its life experiences, with parishioners quite literally from all ages. There are many youth at this parish and equally as many elders of our community. This diversity in age and life experience enriches each of us tremendously. Christ the Redeemer is culturally diverse. There are people from many different backgrounds and ideologies, extroverts and introverts, quiet and gregarious, progressive and conservative, music lovers and sports fans I even met a Dallas Cowboy fan! Christ the Redeemer is a home to everyone and all are welcome. There is one thing that unites us all, and that is the love and devotion for Jesus Christ, the Lord of all. One of the most beautiful things about the Catholic Church is that the very term catholic means universal, for all people. May we at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church ensure that each person is welcomed and invited to encounter Jesus Christ, the Redeemer and Lord of all. Page 6
