Then, we assumed that the search for a Pastor would be completed in a few months at most, so a short term strategy was undertaken, using Guest Ministers during the summer of 2008 and calling Sean Allen as Interim Preacher in September 2008, to attend worship planning, prepare and deliver a Sunday sermon and lead Wednesday night prayer services. Now that the leading candidates of the PSC have withdrawn, the Deacon Board has decided to review the existing strategy and formulate a new strategy going forward in view of the changed circumstance and current pastoral needs. To accomplish this, on June 14, the Deacon Board created a New Interim Pastor Committee to analyze these needs, utilizing the experience available at the Baptist General Convention of Texas and other sources. The committee will then bring a suggested strategy to the Deacon Board for consideration. The committee Chairman is David Doom, assisted by Lisa Gill, Bettie Meachum, Ron Colburn and John Helms. If you have a question, contact a committee member. Once a revised strategy has been approved by the Deacon Board, the congregation will be advised, and, as appropriate, asked to approve.
