Our Mission The mission of First Presbyterian Church of Monett is to follow the Good Shepherd; to share with all people the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. Ministry opportunities We Seek... a pastor who will be excited with the opportunity to: minister alongside a dedicated congregation possessing a wide variety of gifts, skills, and experiences. Many of our members are well-educated, including teachers, doctors and other professionals. Many members hold positions of leadership in our community and have helped make Monett a wonderful community in which to live, work and raise a family. Historically, our congregation has provided both pastoral and lay leadership in Presbytery and Synod activities. lead in the revitalization, renewal, and possible redirection of a congregation anxious to move forward in God s work. We have just joined ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. We believe that ECO s emphasis on Missional Centrality will encourage and enable us to live out the mission to which God is calling our church family. Our congregation would benefit from education and training focused on mission projects and opportunities. We host a community-wide Lenten service every year, and we alternately host and conduct a summer Vacation Bible School program with other community churches. Our facility is the location for a community-wide weekly women s Bible study, DNA testing, bloodmobile visits and also serves as a polling place for county, state and national elections. join in various mission programs of our church, denomination, and programs sponsored by other local churches and organizations in the Monett area. Members of our congregation took major leadership roles in the organization of the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate, for which we continue to provide both leadership and financial support. The Pastor Nominating Committee of First Presbyterian Church offers a unique opportunity for a solo pastor position, an opportunity for a divinely-chosen individual to shepherd our loving, eager congregation and to lead us as we seek to do God s work. We prayerfully seek the following candidate: a strong preacher with a scholarly understanding of Holy Scripture and a solid belief in the infallibility of God s Word. an effective teacher, able to lead our congregation in both our spiritual development and our mission to be and develop faithful disciples. a caring shepherd and a vital member of our church family. a forward-looking leader who has a vision for our small, traditional congregation as we consider our future in a new denomination with its emphasis on evangelism. an involved collaborator, willing to contribute both time and effort to the local Ministerial Association and various denominational bodies. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ordained by a reformed denomination and eligible for ECO ordination Master of Divinity (at a minimum) We prefer pastoral experience and demonstrated success in congregational leadership. However, we are open to the leading of the Holy Spirit to partner with applicants seeking their first ordained call. Compensation and Housing: Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
