Help is needed As we begin our school-year hot meal service we are looking for volunteers. After 8 years of working with us, Coastal Community Church is going to be starting it s own meal program on Mondays at Parkview Baptist Church. We are excited for this new chance for love and food to be shared with those in need AND we are excited to have openings for new people to get involved with SAME. We need help each Monday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to prep, cook, serve and clean up. We are extremely flexible and could use your help for an hour or the day. Once a month or each Monday. Please email Amy Witcover-Sandford soallmayeat@gmail.com) if you would like to get involved. Note from the Nominating Committee: Dear HBC Family, Our Nominating Committee has been busy with our 2018 "opportunities to serve". What gifts and talents do you have that you'd like to share serving on a Committee or the Deacon Board? Who would you like to nominate? Please send nominations to dillowcharlotte@gmail.com by Friday, September 8th. If you have questions about our different committees, please don't hesitate to contact the church office for a full description or email Charlotte Dillow, Nominating Committee Chair. Pastor Betty will lead a series on the history and development of Church Creeds and their comparison to Baptist Confessions of Faith. 5 p.m. in the Activity Room. Pastor Betty will lead a Bible-based series with lots of discussion about the dance that occurs between faith in Jesus and how people of faith live in the world, but not of the world. We will end promptly at 6 p.m., as folks are gathering in the Rotunda and awaiting the beginning of our meal together. There will be no adult programming offered after dinner. Feel free to sit and talk after cleaning up your table in the Fellowship Hall or to schedule a committee meeting or conference if desired. We are going to give this a try for the next year (the earlier time will accommodate our Senior Adults who have expressed concerns about driving home in the dark). We hope this will allow more adults to engage in Spiritual Formation and exploration. Thanks for your openness to some new things led by the Spirit.

Roy Belfield, Minister of Music/Organist ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ September 10 th Recovenanting Sunday : Welcoming Roy Belfield, Jr. & Covered Dish Lunch royjrbelfield@bellsouth.net On Recovenanting Sunday we will officially welcome Dr. Roy Belfield, Jr. to Hampton Baptist Church. Roy joined our staff as Minister of Music/Organist on August 1, 2017. In honor of his coming we would like to invite the congregation to give a financial contribution toward some much needed repair & refurbishing of our sanctuary organ. Please make your checks to Hampton Baptist Church and note organ repair on the memo line. That Sunday we will gather after worship in the Fellowship Hall for a Covered Dish Lunch and a time of fellowship as we recovenant ourselves to the educational, missional, and musical ministries of our church. Come introduce yourself to Roy, and invite a friend to worship that day. We have much to be thankful for as he joins us. Consider joining one of our choirs this Fall. There is always space for another to Praise God. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The New Fall Season for Monday Night Conversation: Gospel on Tap: September 11, 6-8 p.m. at Marker 20 (21 East Queen St., Hampton) Now that I have been here 4 years and a few months it seems that some slight alterations might be helpful in engaging more adults in Spiritual Formation and Discipleship other than on Sunday mornings. So, I am planning to offer a Gospel on Tap discussion at Marker 20. They are happy to supply their back room for us and I think it is going to be fun. The first time we get together, we will share a little about ourselves and then make decisions about how we will want to proceed. Invite a friend who may be interested in just this kind of thing. We will begin on September 11 and will meet every other week from 6-8 p.m. Come have dinner, have appetizers, have a glass of wine or an ice tea, whatever you want and we ll see where the Spirit leads us. Betty
