The June 2018 Fairview United Methodist Church Maryville, Tennessee June 10 June 16, 2018 From the Pastor s Desk Friends, thank you for interceding for those on the Youth Choir Tour trip this week as they minister in Philadelphia. Those of you who have been following the group on Social Media know God has been answering our prayers... God has gone ahead of this group and prepared the way for them to minister to many different people. Please continue to pray for them as they wrap up and travel back on Friday. One of our traditions here at Fairview is we get to experience the youth choir s leadership in worship this Sunday. I hope you will plan to be present, and to invite others to join you for this homecoming concert. As you know, it is more than a concert. It is a wonderfully joyous worship experience as our young men and women lead us in worship. Also, this Sunday is one of two Special Offerings for Missions that we receive each year. Our Sunday Offering will go to missions unless designated specifically for another designated account. Some of the global, national, regional and local mission opportunities these two offerings support include: Alwood/World Harvest Rozefelde/Latvia Haven House Claiborne/Simple Way Harry Howe/Project Crossroads Fairview UMC Missions Conference Shelgren/Raise A Voice Russell/Samaritan Hands Wesley House Priest/John 316 VIM (Volunteer In Mission) Paul Priest South Sudan Project VIM Jerry Russell VIM Holston Conference Disaster Fund Chihowa OK UMC, Durant, OK VIM Mission Scholarships VIM Liberia Holston Conference Spring Offering VIM Regional US Trip Jubilee Project (Sneedville) Food Pantry Linda Stransky/Jubilee Project Henderson Settlement Family Promise Maryville Hispanic Ministries Morgan-Scott Project Basic Needs and Assistance Camp in the Community Wesley Woods Camp Hope Center, Latvia Camp Wesley, Latvia Harmony Family Center Ishe Anesu (Zimbabwe) Habitat for Humanity UTK Wesley Foundation 2nd UMC Riga Latvia Eagle Rock New Horizons School Paraguay Good Neighbors John 3:16 Local Fairview Missions Emphasis Project Miscellaneous Missions Projects Compassion Counseling Blount County Project Crossroads Thank you in advance for choosing to support Missions at Fairview. We would like to WELCOME Ashley Fultz to our staff as the Interim Children s Program Manager for Remedy Campus. She officially started May 21st. My name is Ashley Fultz and I am happily married to my wonderful husband of 10 years, David Fultz. We have two children: Zoey age 8 and Levi age 2. I enjoy the outdoors, swimming, and UT football. GO VOLS!! I am so blessed and honored God has given me the opportunity to work with the children s ministry at Remedy. SPR has decided to hire Jimmy Manis to be our Family and Missions Minister. He will join the staff on July 22. Many of you will remember Jimmy was an assistant youth minister here several years ago and has been the Youth Minister at Beech Grove Baptist Church since 2008. You ll also remember his wife Sabrina and they have two children, Solomon and Lydia. You will see more on this in the near future, but we are excited to announce this position. STAFF CHANGES Sherri Teske has decided to leave the staff and the following are her thoughts on the issue. After much thought, consideration and prayer, I decided last month that it was time to step back and resign. I have truly enjoyed the opportunities that were entrusted to me and I have loved serving this church and the Lord. My plan has always been to stay in my position as long as I felt this was where God meant for me to be. That time has come to an end and I feel much peace with it. It has been such a pleasure working with so many of you on so many different levels! I m not going anywhere, though. Fairview is my family s home! I m excited to be able to be back in service and Sunday school and discover where God leads me next. To all the parents of the littles who have placed your children in my care, whither while I was Interim Children s Director or as the Nursery Director, thank you. I want to thank you and let you know how humbled I am that each of those little ones was entrusted to me. Please know how seriously I took each one of your little ones care and spiritual growth and that I love them all! God Bless! -Sherri Teske We will all truly miss Sherri in this role, but we are happy for her to be able to spend more time with her family and we still get to see the Teske s in church. We are currently searching for an Interim Nursery Director and as soon as we get a commitment we will let you know about it. In the meantime, Melissa will utilize volunteers and the paid nursery staff to assist with this role.

Contact Mary Chauvin 865-382-0877 We have an important update regarding online giving at Fairview UMC, and we need your help! Your generosity and financial partnership with Fairview UMC is immensely appreciated. We are now in the process of transitioning our online system to a new giving experience called Pushpay, which allows for simple giving from a variety of platforms, including mobile giving. This will eventually replace online giving in VANCO. If you have a recurring gift in VANCO, please email Steve Cordle at scordle@fairview-umc.org to cancel it, and any assistance with PushPay. See below link or go onto the website to transition to PushPay. More to come about this soon. https://ppay.co/zafmbqr_tfs
