Mary Barnum, DRE 319-321-0715 stmarymaryb@gmail.com You can remember your loved ones with Mass intentions at anytime - not just at the time of funeral arrangements. If you wish to place a Mass Intention, please specify the intention when making the request, $5 is suggested. When dropping off money for Mass Intentions, please include the name of who the mass is for and whom it is from. Church expenses can increase over time as more maintenance maybe needed and, we hope, as more people come into the church. Please remember to support the Parish now and in the future. When you do Estate Planning, please consider a bequest to St. Mary Parish so that future generations may be blessed with a solid place to receive the sacraments as you were. Tipton
4 WELCOME TO ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH & TIPTON IOWA WWW.STMARYSTIPTON.NET REFLECTION J esus said to his disciples: "You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other one as well. If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic, hand over your cloak as well. Should anyone press you into service for one mile, go for two miles. Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow. "You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." QUESTION OF THE WEEK Theme: God s love invites us to wholeness. Step One: Listen to the Word When you hear the word enemy, what or who do you think fits that definition? How do you turn the other cheek? What does that mean to you? How complete is your love for that enemy? Step Two: Look into your Life Question for Children: What can you do at home or at school to show that you follow Jesus Commandments? Question for Youth: Do you think Jesus was serious when he said to love your enemies? Why or why not? Question for Adults: Have you ever told someone to do something for his/her own well being? Do you accept God s laws in the same spirit of love and concern? MT 5:38-48
