WORSHIP NEWS NEW LIFE CHOIR (7TH - 12TH GRADES) For the past year we have been looking for a Choir Director to lead the New Life Choir; however, up to this point we have not been successful. Many of the members, especially the seniors, approached Ms. Teresa Schroepfer, AHS Choral Director, asking if she would lead them for a limited number of Masses. After some consideration, Teresa said yes. NEW LIFE will lead us in song on March 28 at 5:00 PM, April 3 at 7:00 PM (Good Friday) and May 9 at 7:00 PM (Confirmation). If you wish to join the group, please contact Ms. Schroepfer at Taschroep@new.rr.com or Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship, natwe@nativityparish.com, 490-1352 ext. 206. LUMEN CHRISTI - CHRIST OUR LIGHT Once again, the Worship Commission will be ordering a blank Paschal (Easter) Candle (3 x 48 ) and six Altar Candles (2 x17 ) so that they can be decorated by Steve Barnes (Decorator for over 10 years). The Paschal Candle is blessed at the Easter Vigil (8 PM) and remains lit during the 50 days of Easter (Sundays) and during Baptisms, Funerals, Confirmation, First Eucharist, etc. If you are interested in purchasing one or both of these candles, please contact Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship, 490-1352 ext. 206 and natwe@nativityparish.com. DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? MULTI-MEDIA VIDEO PROJECTION AT NATIVITY! Over the years the Worship Commission (WC) has been looking into ways to better communicate all aspects of celebrating the Eucharist. This desire comes from one of the mandates of the Second Vatican Council s on the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy that the ecclesial assembly enters into the liturgy with full, conscious, and active participation. That s where the idea of a Multi-Media Video Projection System comes into play. Over the past 20 years, the thought of utilizing state of the art video projection has always been on our agenda. So why now? Three main factors are driving it: Today s culture communication is very visual; the advancement in multi-media video projection technology; and a generous donor who will fund the entire project. This leads us to the next step as we are looking for assistance to operate it. VIDEO PROJECTION SYSTEM MINISTRY: The Worship Commission is introducing a new ministry here at Nativity. We are looking for individuals willing to operate our new video projection system each Sunday, starting this Easter. Training is minimal, and operation of the system is simple. Please contact Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship, natwe@nativityparish.com. 490-1352 Ext 206 if you would like to volunteer. STATIONS OF THE CROSS Mondays this Lent - 6:30 PM in Church Two Styles Offered - Traditional and Contemporary Traditional (scripture based) and Contemporary (reflections by Sr. Joan Chittisler Gateway to Resurrection). Note dates vary: Monday, March 30 (Traditional) EASTER DECORATIONS The Worship Commission is preparing for Easter and needs your assistance so that our church reflects the joy of CHRIST S RESURECTION. We will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 4, please come for as long as your schedule allows. Lunch will be provided. If you can t help on Saturday there may be something you could do during the week. Please call Wayne (490-1352, ext. 206) or email natwe@nativityparish.com with your name and number of people if interested in assisting. PASCHAL TRIDUUM (HOLY WEEK) EASTER SUNDAY SIGN-UP SHEETS As we approach these most sacred days, all Liturgical Ministers are requested to assist at these liturgies: Holy Thursday 7:00 PM Good Friday 1:00 PM & 7:00 PM Easter Vigil 8:00 PM Easter Sunday 8:30 AM & 10:15 AM EASTER VIGIL CHOIR (APRIL 4, 8:00 PM MASS) Calling all Easter Vigil Singers! If you have sung/played with this group before you know how exciting it is and if you haven t you might want to check it out. The Easter Vigil is the mother of all vigils and there s lots of music, with a great variety and styles. Rehearsal times are to be determined. If interested, contact Teresa Schroepfer Taschroep@new.rr.com and/or Wayne Efferson natwe@nativityparish.com 490-1352 ext. 206. EASTER FLOWERS DEADLINE MARCH 22 One great tradition we have continued each Easter is the Easter Flower decorations. They are a sign and symbol of God s re-creative spirit. Many remember loved ones through this living memorial because they believe in the Resurrected Christ. To contribute to the flowers, use your Easter flower envelope. Names of loved ones will be included in the Easter Sunday bulletin. BEHOLD THE WOOD OF THE CROSS We need 8-10 people to carry our large cross in procession for the Veneration of the Cross on Good Friday, at the 1:00 and 7:00 PM services. Please sign up in the Sacristy. 6

DO YOU BELIEVE THIS? This day Jesus weeps for his dead friend Lazarus. He asks Martha, If anyone believes in me, even though he dies, he will live. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? After Martha s yes, Jesus raised Lazarus, and we are witnesses. Paul adds, If the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then he who raised Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies. Resurrection is the key to our witness and our faith in Jesus. Text, Philip J. Sandstrom, STD 2001, OCP. All rights reserved. Fifth Sunday in Lent, Year A. Illustration 2001 K.Sullivan.
