HOW MANY TIMES SHALL I FORGIVE? ALL ARE WELCOME Whether you are young or old, rich or poor, doubtful or hopeful no matter where you are in your faith journey, YOU are welcome here. For those with children, be assured that noises and wiggling are signs of a church that is alive and growing; your entire family is welcome in worship. ORDER OF WORSHIP SEPTEMBER 14, 2014 Prelude Grand Choeur Theodore Salomé Welcome to The Peoples Church! Minute for Mission Call to Worship (Inspired by Matthew 18:21-35) Church Recycling Program Rev. Andrew Pomerville Inviting God, we ask to be accepted. Nurturing God, we ask you to help us grow. Compassionate God, we ask for your mercy. Forgiving God, we ask for your patience. Listening God, we ask to hear your voice. God, who is in this place, let us worship you in truth, hope and love. Gathering Hymn Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! No. 1 (Please stand if able.) Prayer of Confession Rev. Drew Filkins O Lord, we seek your mercy... yet we ourselves look for payback when we are wronged. We think it is only fair and what is right when we retaliate and use harsh words and withdraw from relationships. The forgiveness you offer on our account is larger than we can comprehend still we withhold forgiveness and carry the grudge over petty items. We are eager to do your judging. Forgive us Lord for the sins we know in our hearts. Save us Lord from the sins we hide. Through the grace of Jesus Christ, make us whole, we pray. Amen. Passing the Peace of Christ (Please stand if able.) The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you. Children are dismissed to participate in Sunday School at this time. (10:30 a.m.) They will return to the Sanctuary during the Sending Hymn and gather on the chancel.

Old Testament Reading Genesis 50:15-21 (Pew Bible Page 55, Large Print Page 79) Choir Anthem (10:30 a.m.) Lord, I Want to Be a Christian arr. David Lantz III Sanctuary Choir directed by Dr. Jonathan Reed Prayers of the People (During the pastoral prayer there will be a time to offer prayers of joy and concern, voiced aloud or silently for and on behalf of others.) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Celebration of Holy Communion (8:30 a.m.) Celebration of Baptism (10:30 a.m.) Theodore & Gabriel Eysselinck Born Feb. 4, 2014 Sons of Ben & Jessica Eysselinck. We believe the teachings of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and with the help of God, we will strive daily to live the life of purity, unselfishness and service which He exemplified to the world. Baptismal Hymn I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry No. 488 New Testament Reading Matthew 18:21-35 (Pew Bible Page 985, Large Print Page 1,499) Sermon Please Be Patient With Me Rev. Andrew Pomerville Offertory Adante Felix Mendelsohn Act of Praise (Please stand if able.) Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Dedication God who forgives our debts and wipes the slate clean, teach us to use these gifts to show abundant grace and hospitality to all people. Connect us through your son, Jesus Christ. Grow us for the tasks of ministry. Help us serve with enthusiasm. Enable us to share these blessings with all people. Through your compassion we pray. Amen. Sending Hymn Give Praise to the Lord No. 550 Children s Moment (10:30 a.m.) Benediction Benediction Response (Please stand if able.) Go now in peace. Never be afraid. God will go with you each hour of every day. Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know God will guide you in all you do. Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see. God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith, and in love. Postlude A Festal Fanfare J.S.
