What You Need: A Bible; a plush sheep; a 9x12-inch piece of paper with a bush drawn on the front with green leaves; orange, red, and yellow crepe paper cut into 1-foot lengths and taped to a ruler; and an action figure to play Moses LEADER: (Place all items for the story next to you on the floor.) Hello, friends! I m so glad to see you today. Have you ever played on a big, green, grassy field? Raise your hands if you have. (Pause.) Awesome. You can put your hands down. Do you know what animal loves a grassy field? Maybe this will give you a hint. (Hold up the plush sheep.) Or wait, what if I said, BAAAA! Now what animal do you think I m talking about? CHILDREN: Sheep! LEADER: Yes! Sheep. In our TRUE Bible story today (hold up the Bible), there was a shepherd out tending to his sheep. His name was Moses. (Hold up the action figure and stand it up next to the sheep.) So Moses was out watching over his family s sheep when something amazing happened. (Hold up the paper with the bush about a foot from the action figure.) Off in the distance, Moses noticed a bush. Moses had never seen anything like it, so he decided to go check it out. (Move the bush/fire streamers close to the action figure since they re already in your hands.) When he got closer, Moses heard a voice from inside the bush. It was God! He said, Moses, Moses! Moses said, Here I am. (Continue shaking the crepe paper streamers.) God told Moses He had an important job for him. God wanted Moses to go talk to a mean king and save God s people who were in Egypt. But Moses was scared to talk to the mean king. He thought he wasn t important enough to talk to a king. But God said, I will be with you. And if God promised to always be with Moses, do you think he ll always be with us too? CHILDREN: Yes! LEADER: (Set down all the items you ve been holding.) You know, no matter where we have to go, whether it s to school, to the dentist, or when we re going to sleep in our room at night, God promises to be with us just like He was with Moses. And we can know that [Bottom Line] God keeps His promises. Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN and LEADER: [Bottom Line] God keeps His promises. LEADER: Yes, He does! He kept His promise to Moses that He would be with Him, and He will keep His promises to us too. Will you pray with me? We love You, too. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
