October is already here. October has probably become the busiest month in church life. I was talking with one of our pastors last week; he said that he and his wife had decided that if anyone asked for them to do something in October the answer was no. The pastor noted that with family responsibilities, church, and other activities they did not have a free day during the month. This week, I was preparing to preach on Sunday from Luke 10 the story of Mary and Martha. I was reminded that it is good to be busy in the Lord s work, but we first need to sit at the Teacher s feet. So, I encourage us all, during this busy month, to not lose our focus of worship. None of our activities will matter if they are not done for the glory of the Lord. Please be in prayer for our On Mission Connection, occurring Oct. 15-19. On Sunday 23 of our congregations will hear from State, National, and International Missionaries. The OMC will start on Saturday evening with a banquet at Antioch at 6:00 for Pastors and wife, and host homes for a meet and greet with those who will be speaking in our churches. The WMU will be hosting a Girls Conference on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9:30 until 6:00 at Reidsville Baptist. The conference is open for girls 6 through college. There will be two tracks with one for younger girls and one for older. Tyler Manning will be the guest speaker. For more information contact Lynn Gardner at 912-278-1782 or the office 912-739-9040. Yesterday (Wednesday Sept. 28) at Both Tattnall and Evans Jr. High and High Schools students met around their flag poles to pray. What an example to other students and to the community. Please lift up our Christian students as they reach their peers. Remember, rest at the feet of Jesus. SUPPLY PREACHERS TATTNALL-EVANS BAPTIST ASSOCIATION Rev. Freddy Gardner 912-278-1783 Rev. From the Desk of Lawanda: Mission Trip: For those who have never been on a mission trip, you should go at least one time to see how God is using people to do his work in the communities. Day One and Day Two of our mission trip, I helped serve hotdogs, goody bags to the children and school supplies. As the people sat down, I could interact with them, and they were so appreciative. Who knows, there may have been one who had not eaten for quite a while, or eating a hot dog may have been a luxury we take for granted. As Tom and I have ministered to the less fortunate some had never eaten at McDonalds, Burger King or anything like that. One man came up and as he was getting him a hot dog. I mention the Lord and he turned away, so there are those that still do not know Jesus. We gave caps out to the boys (and girls) and to the men. One man with this tattoos, etc. (looked like a motorcycle rider with his head cover.) I put a cap over it. He sat a long time and visited We had several young people that went on the mission trip. They really worked. I m so proud to know our Association of churches are raising young people who want to help others. Prior to this year, Mrs. Margaret (she runs the Crisis Center) asked all the kids to write a letter and tell her what they wanted for Christmas. Most families around the crisis center can t afford Christmas. The kids had to write the letter, not the parents. She would try to get them what they had asked for out of the center that someone had brought in. That has become so she can t do it and this year each child will get a backpack and stocking. I asked how many childred she served and she said between 1300 and 1400. I was blown away. To know she served this many children. We packed book bags while we were there but not 1300. Now is the time to start praying to God asking him what he wants you to do to help others at Christmas. Every year I m so tired when I get home, I tell myself I m not going next year but when the time comes I m eager to go back. What about you. Why not join us next year. You will receive the blessing. The enemy wouldn t be attacking you if something very valuable wasn t inside of you. Thieves don t break into empty houses. You have purpose!

PICTURES FROM THE MISSION TRIP: Some of us who likes hats found hats. You never knew what you would find in a box. A lady from North Carolina crochets the stocking, fills them and sends them to the center to be given to the children. Some fished And there are always shoes in big bins to match. And we could always find something in the boxes to play with.
