In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: 261. The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah that of a grain of corn: it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases: and Allah cares for all and He knows all things. 262. Those who spend their substance in the cause of Allah, and follow not up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury-for them their reward is with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve (261/262. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan The President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai

Founder s Message As a nation, the United Arab Emirates has witnessed various accomplishments since its creation in 1971. The establishments of charitable institutions and associations have placed the country at the forefront of humanitarian activities that impact the deserving both within and outside the UAE. These institutions have also enhanced UAE s standing as a caring and giving nation that is ready to lend a helping hand whenever required. The Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation was created to offer assistance to alleviate the suffering of the poor and displaced people wherever they might be. The Most Gracious Almighty has given us an abundance gifts and this is our humble gesture of offering thanks for all His blessings. It is with hope that I wish the Foundation continuous success in its role as a reliable support for the UAE when dispensing compassionate aid to deserving individuals and countries across the globe. We stand ready to assist the wise and generous efforts of our visionary leaders, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of UAE and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai as well as the honorable leaders of all other emirates within the Union. May the Almighty protect our virtuous leaders and citizens. Easa Saleh Al Gurg, KCVO, CBE 6 7

Chairperson s Message One of my father s most distinguished traits is his giving personality. This very nature of being generous, sympathetic to the needs of the poor, and disadvantaged led to the creation of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Foundation which formalized his ongoing charitable activities. The Foundation has been established under Decree Number 21 of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. From the onset, His Excellency Easa Saleh Al Gurg, KCVO, CBE has been categorical that the Foundation would not rely on any external sources of funding and operate through contributions from his personal wealth and savings. He has also donated significant real estate properties to charitable projects adopted by the Foundation. This makes the ESAG Charity Foundation, a unique charitable enterprise and one of the very few self-financed charitable establishments within the UAE. In a limited time span of two years, the Foundation has been able to undertake some commendable charitable work both within and outside the UAE such as medical assistance, educational aid and international humanitarian assistance. I hope the first report of the Foundation serves as an inspiration to many who would like to be involved in charitable works. On behalf of the Foundation, I would like to express my gratitude to all individuals, associations and institutions that have collaborated with us in this noble task. Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg 8 9

Our Beginning HE Easa Saleh Al Gurg, KCVO, CBE has been involved with charitable work for many decades. As the number of charitable projects that he was involved in, began to multiply, His Excellency felt it was prudent to formalize these activities and create an organization that would operate on his behalf. The creation of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation was unanimously seconded by the members of the Al Gurg family during a meeting in 2010. The Easa Al Gurg Charity Foundation was established in October 2010 (1434 AH/2010 AD) under the decree Number 21 of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai with capital fully financed from the founder s private funds and real estate. In keeping with the founder s wishes, the Foundation also operates independent of the earnings from the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group LLC. Easa Saleh Al Gurg Mosque Karama 10 11

Hajj & Umrah Assistance 196. And complete the Hajj or umrah in the service of Allah. But if you are prevented (from completing it), send an offering for sacrifice, such as you may find, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (necessitating shaving), (he should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice; and when you are in peaceful conditions (again), if any one wishes to continue the umrah on to the Hajj, he must make an offering, such as he can afford it, he should fast three days during the Hajj and seven days on his return, making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is strict in punishment (196.
