Eph. 6:11 Do you take seriously the work of the devil or evil in this world? Paul goes on to say: For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the ruler, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Eph. 6:12 We are not fighting against humans although at times people oppose us. God offers to His own armor or gifts for us to use in this battle. If we depend on ourselves, we will soon fail and be crushed. Paul says we must diligently use God s Word, through which God gives us new power and vigor. If you wish to be strong and invincible, let the Lord Jesus be your strength; take hold of Him and exercise yourselves in Him. Learn from God s Word daily and diligently and impress it on your mind and soul with such intensity that God s Word and your heart by and by become one and the same thing, so that you may be sure of your confidence, more certain than of your own life. If you have done that, then you are really strong and firm and will remain unconquered and secure. (Luther) The armor of God is a gift for you to take up and use. Living a Life of Purpose and Peace without guilt or regret A WOMAN WHO MATTERS In our fast-paced lives, we can go to bed exhausted from a busy day and discouraged that what matters most didn t get done. Guilt at not spending more time with our kids or spouse permeates rare quiet moments. A Woman Who Matters is a practical look at what consumes our time and energy. Women are challenged to evaluate their lives in light of Luke 10:38-42 to find out if they are making the better choice in areas of life that matter most to them. As Hannah shares her experience of her Matters List women will gain a useful tool to apply to their own lives. Hannah s personal journey in becoming a Woman Who Matters will empower women to grasp the better choices. Join us for a women s mini-retreat! Date: October 19 th, 6pm-8pm Session 1 Continuing on to Saturday, October 20 th, 9 am Noon Cost $15 per person A sign-up sheet will be available in the Narthex. See Mandy Toms with any questions. 5
