The uttering of these six words immediately calls to mind a wedding ceremony and, with that, the image of marriage. Bride. Groom. Minister. Witnesses. They all assemble for the celebration of a bridegroom and his bride becoming one. God designed the marital union of one man and one woman to parallel the union between Christ Jesus and His Bride, the Church. Dearly beloved, today we are gathered here in the house of the Lord to hear His Word and gather at His banquet Table. As our Bridegroom invites us to come to Him, we call to mind all He has done. With the witnesses who surround us, let us learn to treasure Christian marriage as a beautiful gift that reflects Christ s love for us.
