A Serenity Service!
God decreed and allowed Joseph Kelvin Jones to enter this world on July 23, 1963 born to the late Johnnie Mae (Bell) and the late Walter Jones in Ozark, AL. Joseph, Kelvin, as close family, friends, and classmates called him, grew up in Ozark where he attended Mixon Elementary School, D.A. Smith Middle School, and graduated from Carroll High School in 1981. Joseph furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Alabama A & M University in 1988. While attending A & M, Joseph was active in Pershing Riffles. When Joseph was 11, he was diagnosed with a kidney disease. However, he did not allow this disease to deter him from God s plan for his life. Because, at 7 years old, Joseph had already professed his belief and faith in God by joining First Missionary Baptist Church. Joseph grew up in the church singing in choirs, serving on the Usher Board, giving Easter and Christmas speeches, participating in Crusaders, and becoming a Crusaders Counselor. While attending Alabama A & M University, Joseph met the love of his life Wanda Faye Cordule. Their endearing love story has lasted over 25 years being united in marriage on September 24, 1992. To their unbreakable bond, God gave them five children: Rev. C. Artez Jones (son Jayden McKinnon), Jasmine Jones (daughters Kaylei Humphrey & Gabriella Wilson), Rev. Joseph Jones, Jr., Michelle Jones, and Michael Jones. Not allowing his kidney disease to define him, Joseph used his engineering degree to work at Sony, Dothan, AL, and DynaCorp, Fort Rucker, AL. Joseph s goal in working despite his disease was to illustrate to his children that through God, All things are possible. Joseph displayed a strong, determined, inner strength that drew people to him. Consequently, even though he was medically disabled kidneys failed and had to go on dialysis, Joseph opened Jones Quicktax where he successfully filed income taxes for over 15 years. Also, Joseph worked with Trawick Funeral Home for 9 years. Joseph s service to the community continued through his commitment to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Kappa Beta Beta Chapter, Euclid Lodge #68 Prince Hall Free and Accepted Order of Masons, and the Alabama Kidney Foundation. Joseph served Omega Psi Phi for over 25 years. 2013 2016 Joseph served as State Keeper of Records and Seals. 2007 & 2016 Joseph was awarded Kappa Beta Beta s Omega Man of the Year. Demonstrating his commitment to fight kidney disease, Joseph achieved the Alabama Kidney Foundation 2015 Top Fundraiser Award. Joseph completed God s plan for his life on July 31, 2018.
