Your Itinerary in Detail Day 3 Kaza - Tabo We start our cycling adventure with a fairly easy 50 kilometre ride from Kaza to Tabo. The ride is predominantly downhill, however, there are several uphill sections on the drive as expected with every mountain ride. Kaza lies at an altitude of about 3,600 metres and Tabo is at an altitude of about 3,280 metres. At Tabo, after checking into the guest house we will visit the Tabo Monastery, which is said to be over 1,000 years old. The walls of the monastery are adorned with beautiful frescos and mud statues. You may need to carry a torch to be able to see these, as it is quite dark inside the temples. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 4 Tabo Get ready for a challenging but rewarding day ahead. You will ride on some downhill sections of the trail followed by several climbs. The last 8 kilometres to Gyu Village is a very steep climb, so be prepared for a spectacular ride with amazing views of the Himalayan peaks surrounding you. On reaching Gyu, you will begin to witness a little piece of the serene mountain life that the people here experience. This quaint place is relatively secluded and unknown amongst travellers, as there are only a few hundred inhabitants. We will get the chance to visit a chamber, which houses a mummified holy man that is believed to be 500-600 years old. Though the mummy is closed to tourists for viewing, one can see the mummy through the window of the chamber where it is kept. After this, we will ride back to Tabo.
