It is our heart and desire to engage the community of Waseca with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, equip those who respond to be the next generation of disciples of Jesus Christ and empower them to go into the world as partners with God for the healing of the world. NEWS OF OUR FAITH COMMUNITY/ WELCOME PASSING OF THE PEACE *CHORAL CALL TO WORSHIP..."Make Us One"...TFWS No. 2224 LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE...I John 1:5-7 Now this is the gospel message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with Him and yet keep on walking in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth. But if we walk in the light as he Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. OPENING PRAYER...Psalm 19: 13-14 [UNISON] Also keep back your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, and I shall be acquitted of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. AMEN. *HYMN OF CELEBRATION:..."Jesus Name Above All Names...TFWS No. 2071 RESPONSIVE READING...PSALM 51:1-17 L: Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. 1
All: Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! L: For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. All: Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. L: Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. All: Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. All: Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. L: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. All: Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. L: Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. L: Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. All: O LORD, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. L: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. L: THIS IS THE WORD OF GOD FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD. All: THANKS BE TO GOD! HYMN OF INVITATION... Eat This Bread, Drink This Cup...UMH No. 628 2 SERVICE OF WORD AND TABLE II ALL ARE WECOME Pgs. 11-13 HYMN OF RESPONSE... Change My Heart, O God...TFWS No. 2152
CHILDREN S CHURCH All children are invited to attend our Children s Church at this time. Please go to the back of the sanctuary to meet your teacher. READINGS FROM PROVERBS... Proverbs 11:19-20; 12:22; 13:6; 14:25; 19:1,28; 20:17-19; 21:6; True righteousness leads to life, but the one who pursues evil pursues it to his own death. The LORD abhors a person who lies, but those who deal truthfully are his delight. The righteous person hates anything false, but the wicked person acts in shameful disgrace. Righteousness guards the one who lives with integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner. A truthful witness rescues lives, but the one who breathes lies brings deception. Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his speech and is a fool. A crooked witness scorns justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity. Bread gained by deceit tastes sweet to a person, but afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel. Plans are established by counsel, so make war with guidance. The one who goes about gossiping reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with someone who is always opening his mouth. Making a fortune by a lying tongue is like a vapor driven back and forth; they seek death. L: THIS IS THE WORD OF GOD FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD. All: THANKS BE TO GOD.
