Tuesday marked the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, and later this week we'll celebrate the Baccalaureate Mass and senior banquet on Thursday, followed by Evensong and Commencement on Friday. Knowing that our students have successfully passed a significant milestone in their lives is cause for thanks and celebration. I pray that all our graduates will discern and be open to God's specific calling for each of them, and that they will find joy and peace in following the path he has set before them. As we bring to a close this school year, a reminder that are book and uniform exchange is scheduled for Tuesday, June 19. Our new uniform provider, Academic Outfitters, will be on campus to assist families with sizing and purchasing of new uniforms. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you as the Headmaster of this great school. With gratitude, I look forward to returning next year as a teacher. CATHOLIC EDUCATION AT THE ATONEMENT ACADEMY 8th Grade Graduation My faith foundation from The Atonement Academy helped me not only survive the first few years of college, but also grow in my spiritual life. Without the habit I had formed in school, I could have easily fallen away from the church. (Mary Henriquez, Class of 2016) Nota Bene / Note Well: ENROLLED FOR NEXT YEAR? Upper School Corner Subject: Grade: Teacher: AP Calc. & AP Physics Upper School Mr. Zachary Adian Investigating Applications After the AP Exams, the seniors in AP Calculus and AP Physics had time to investigate different applications of their respective courses. For example, the AP Physics class had the task to build a roman arch (see photo) using the skills that they have acquired on forces, stress, and stability. The AP Calculus class learned a few things about computer programming through the program editor on their graphing calculator. They were able to input a program that solved quadratic equations and had the option to produce fractals of various kinds. It was nice to be able to breath a sigh of relief after all their hard work. Featured Teacher of the Week I have been fascinated by The Atonement Academy 's high level of standards for academics, athletics, and the arts this year. It has been great bringing my experience and expertise in athletics to The Atonement Academy this year and I look forward to another successful year. The Atonement Academy has exceptional coaching staff and supportive administration, I am more than confident we can build an even stronger sports foundation and take Crusader Athletics to new levels! Lower School Corner Subject: Grade: Teacher: Texas History 4th Grade Boys Mrs. Martha Hoover The Boy in the Alamo! As the school year quickly came to a close the 4th grade boys class enjoyed reading The Boy in the Alamo. Each boy presented on his favorite scene or chapter from the book, drawing a depiction of the scene and writing a small piece as to why he chose that scene. Many of the boys chose a scene from chapter 10, The Battle, and drew an image that included The Alamo. It was fun to dive into the history of San Antonio through the last book we read as a class during the school year! Our Lady of the Atonement Catholic Church Parish Life
