WEEK FIVE 2 ND -3 RD GRADE READ PSALM 27:14 Wait for the Lord! It s so important, King David wrote it twice in one verse. When you think you can t wait, think twice! Hidden in this puzzle are five different words, and they re each hidden twice. Can you find them all? ASK God to help you slow down and think twice. DAY 1 W N U C P A T I E N C E E N R A U O A O L A N E R T R E B W A I T U K P T R U S T R R X T A I O L A N U E T B U N N I N E W A R O A R C A U A E T P N W D S L O W C T L X N I T C W E E T R X T W A N E U O E T W E L U P A B T M P A T L S R R S C A M K E L A T E R T I W A I T P I R L O C R L C A T I W I A N M T S L O W W N T N T E W M R M R O K T T R U S T N I P N O B N T P E R T N K C N P A READ PSALM 37:7-9 DAY 2 Is there someone you feel like is always wronging you? Maybe it s a sibling who is always annoying you and messing with your stuff. Maybe it s a kid at school on the bus who says means things to you. Or maybe they re not hurting you, but there s a kid who is always getting away with bad stuff like lying or cheating on a test. Instead of trying to get even or losing your temper, take some time to talk to God about it. Ask Him for help in figuring out what to do, and maybe even talk to an adult to ask them for advice too. Taking time to think through a situation is always a good idea! When you have a plan in place, write it below, and then follow through on your carefully thought-out plan! ASK God to help you know how to handle hard situations.

READ JAMES 1:2-4 DAY 3 Unscramble the list below of things you have to practice to get good at. SROPTS MHTA AGUANELG OCGOINK GAIRWDN UCISM GBKIAN NCSCEIE EANITCEP When you take the time to think twice, something really cool happens. You get more patient. Being patient makes you, well, more patient. The more you practice patience, the better you ll get at it! ASK God to grow your patience! Answers: SPORTS, MATH, LANGUAGE, COOKING, DRAWING, MUSIC, BAKING, SCIENCE, PATIENCE, READ LAMENTATIONS 3:25 DAY 4 When it comes to making some decisions, you might think you need to act quickly or you ll miss your chance. But if you put your HOPE in God and LOOK to Him for direction, you ll always make the wise choice. With someone s help, write the words HOPE and LOOK on each of your fingers (one letter per finger), so when you look at your hands, you ll think twice and remember to put your hope in God and look to Him for wisdom. LISTEN to God for wisdom before you rush into decisions.

WEEK FOUR 2 ND -3 RD GRADE READ COLOSSIANS 3:12 DAY 1 If you ve put your trust in Jesus, God has given you all you need to be patient. In fact, Colossians 3:12 says having things like mercy, kindness and patience should be as much a part of your everyday life as putting on clothes! Using a dry erase marker, write the words of Colossians 3:12 on your bedroom or bathroom mirror to remind you as you get ready that you are dearly loved by God, and that love can help you be patient! KNOW that you are beloved by God! READ ISAIAH 30:18 DAY 2 Set a timer for thirty seconds. After it goes off, set it again for thirty seconds, and this time, try to hold your breath the whole time. Did those thirty seconds feel longer when you were waiting to exhale? Waiting on things isn t easy! God wants us to be patient, and He s given us the best example because HE is always patient with US! When you think you can t wait, remember that God s plan is always best. ASK God to help you remember His plan is best when you think you can t wait.

READ GALATIANS 6:9 DAY 3 Put these things in order of how much patience they require. Waiting in line for your favorite ride Baking cookies The time from now until Christmas Growing a garden Learning a new instrument All of those things are GREAT things, but they require patience, don t they? Sometimes it can feel like you re doing the right thing but nothing good comes of it. But God has promised that you WILL eventually see the results of the work you do for Him, just be patient and don t give up! ASK God to help you be patient while you continue to follow Him. READ EXODUS 14:14 DAY 4 So many times we lose patience and take things into our own hands. But if we can trust God and His plan, He will take care of us. Instead of rushing to fight, rush to trust. Color in the word art and hang it somewhere to remind you that patience comes when you trust God to fight for you. KNOW that God s got your back!

WEEK THREE 2 ND -3 RD GRADE READ PROVERBS 14:29 DAY 1 If you ve got some bubble solution, try this experiment. (If you don t, you can try mixing some dish soap with water and using a circle of some sort like a mason jar lid or the ring around a milk jug as a makeshift bubble wand. Just be sure to ask an adult for permission first!) Try blowing bubbles with various speeds. See which bubbles are bigger and last longer. Are the bubbles bigger when you have patience and blow slowly or when you blow air fast and furious through the ring? Just like with bubbles, when we have patience with others, we will find ourselves stronger and wiser for it! KNOW that getting angry quickly destroys relationships. READ EPHESIANS 4:2 DAY 2 Fill in the blanks with vowels to see what you should (and shouldn t do) to keep your cool with others. Don t be P R D at all. Be completely G N T L. Be P. Put up with one another in L V. ASK God to help you keep your cool.

READ PROVERBS 15:18 DAY 3 Get a medium sized bowl and put it in the kitchen sink. Fill it with water, then use a spoon to stir the bowl as fast as you can. What happens to the water? It makes a big mess, doesn t it? Did you know that s what it s like when you have a bad temper? It makes a big mess in your life and your relationships. But if you keep your cool, it can have the opposite effect. You can actually be a force for peace in the world! ASK God to help you choose patience and peace. READ PROVERBS 16:32 DAY 4 Make up some motions for Proverbs 16:32. Then show them to someone in your family and see if they can guess some of the verse. Patience may be hard in the moment, but you ll feel so much better when you choose it! THANK God for helping you to keep your cool this week!

WEEK TWO 2 ND -3 RD GRADE READ 1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 DAY 1 How long did it take you to get through that maze? When you hit a dead-end, were you tempted to give up? Hopefully you knew you could trust that there WAS a way out, you just had to be patient and keep trying! God has promised that He will help us whenever we re tempted to give up on doing the right thing. All we have to do is ask! ASK God to help you be patient, even when you think you can t wait. READ PSALM 86:15 DAY 2 Unscramble these words that describe who God is. DEENRT KDNI CSRUOGAI TTAPINE FLFUHTIA GVOLNI God doesn t ask us to do or be anything that He hasn t already done or been for us! He is patient with us, so He can give us the strength to be patient with Him and His plan. THANK God for being patient with you. Answers: TENDER, KIND, GRACIOUS, PATIENT, FAITHFUL, LOVING

READ COLOSSIANS 1:11 DAY 3 Do the following Workout of the Day. 10 sit-ups 10 jumping jacks 10 push-ups 10 high knees (like running in place) Then repeat it 3 times. Phew! How do you feel? Any stronger? Did you ever feel tempted to give up? You would have to repeat that every day for a while to feel physically stronger, but God wants you to be STRONG in your patience most of all! Never give up on making the wise choice to trust God! KNOW that exercising your patience will help your patience grow stronger too! READ PSALM 9:10 DAY 4 Sometimes it s hard for us to be patient because we forget that we can trust God to take care of us, and that His plan is best. What s something you re struggling to be patient about? Maybe you are having a hard time understanding math. Or maybe you can t sleep because you re waiting to find out if you made the team or the school play. Maybe your lack of patience has more to do with a person like a sibling or even your mom or dad. Take a minute to ask God to help you have patience and to trust Him to help you through your situation. Write the words of Psalm 9:10 on a scrap of paper and stick it somewhere to remind you throughout the day that God s got this! KNOW that God has never deserted anyone who asked Him for help!

WEEK ONE 2 ND -3 RD GRADE READ MATTHEW 28:6 DAY 1 Can you imagine what it must have been like for Jesus friends who arrived at the tomb early in the morning to find it empty?! READ JOHN 2:19-22 DAY 2 Which of these crazy facts is true? *The blue whale s tongue weighs as much as an adult elephant. *Stubbs was the mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska for 20 years. Stubbs is a cat. *Seahorses are the only animal on earth where the male bears the unborn young. *There are approximately 1 million ants for every person on earth. If you guessed all of them to be true, you re right! If you ever find it hard to believe that what God says is true, you re not alone. Even the disciples sometimes doubted God s word. But when Jesus rose from the dead, they realized that EVERYTHING God had ever promised was true! ASK God to help you trust Him and His word.

READ ROMANS 6:9 DAY 3 Go on a scavenger hunt for all the remote controls in your house. How many did you find? Try using them for different appliances. Do they work? Here s a REALLY cool fact when Jesus rose from the dead, death no longer controlled Him. He beat death! But here s where it gets even better, because of His death and resurrection, death no longer controls us either! Jesus beat death for US! THANK God for sending Jesus and bringing Him back to life so we can live forever too!
