Also, everyone please pass the red fellowship pad down the pew and back again noticing those with whom you are worshiping today. Prayer Cards are in the pew racks. Please place cards in the basket in front of the pulpit during the Passing of the Peace. Our church is handicapped accessible. There is an area set aside for wheelchairs on the left front section of the theater-type seats we call the Amen Section. Thank you, The Starcher family for serving as our Liturgist this morning. *Indicates an invitation to stand, if you are able. Our thanks to Mark Armentrout, assistant organist, for playing our service this morning. The Christmas Eve Service at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church will be held at 7pm. PRELUDE: Oh, Come, Emmanuel Wilbur Held CALL TO WORSHIP: L: We light this candle as a sign of the coming light of Christ, who is called the Son of the Most High, Luke 1 P: and of whose kingdom there will be no end. L: About the hour of Christ s coming no one knows; Mark 13 therefore keep awake, for you do not know when the time will come. P: Heaven and earth will pass away Mark 13 but the word of God endures forever. OPENING PRAYER *HYMN #82 Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus *CALL TO CONFESSION Like a faded, dry leaf that the wind blows away, Isaiah 64:6b our sins dry us up: 2

faded and brittle we are carried off by the wrongs we have done. Yet God loves us still and is able to restore and renew us with the water of life. *PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison) God-with-us, even in Advent, we confess that you can seem far away. Isaiah 64:5b,7 You are hidden when we need you near. In our hurt, doubt, and fear, we do not try to draw closer to you; Instead, we lash out against you, our neighbor, even those we love. Forgive us, we pray, and come to save us! Psalm 80:2-7 Let your face shine until our tears are dried, our sins are faded, And our hope is restored. After all, we belong to you, and in your hands, We can be made new. In Jesus name we pray, Amen. *THE KYRIE Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, Have mercy upon us. *ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS *THE GLORIA PATRI #583 Gloria, Gloria *SHARING GOD S PEACE PROCLAIMING GOD S WORD SCRIPTURE READING Old Testament Isiah 64:1-9 Pew Bible pg. 652 New Testament Mark Pew Bible pg. 47 This is the word of the Lord.
