FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR S REPORT Sir Knights it is worthy of note that our next Assembly meeting is being held at Ascension Parish Church, Parksville/Qualicum on Sunday May 28 th. 2017. This date is the Solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord into Heaven and it is the name of the Knights of Columbus Council in the area. Therefore, we have a number of things to celebrate and be thankful for. We expect to have several Sir Knights in full regalia and others and the Ladies to serve in a number of Ministries at this Mass. It has been three years that the Assembly Officers, including myself, have had the honour of serving you. I would like to personally say Thank You to each and every one for your tremendous support. For the coming Fraternal Year Sir Knight Phil Riley has assembled an impressive slate of officers to guide the Assembly through 2017/18. I am anticipating a smooth transition. In Parksville this summer we are proposing that we march in the July 01 parade as a group with some Sir Knights in full regalia. We also anticipate having a float in the same parade. At this time I would like to encourage Port Alberni, Comox Valley and Campbell River to think of an event to celebrate Canada's 150 th. Birthday on July 1 st. And to present their idea at our meeting. Yvonne and I hope that all can get out to celebrate on July 1 st. Thank you, again, for your patience and understanding during the past three years. F/N Ron Stothers
POPE S PRAYER INTENTIONS MAY Christians in Africa. That Christians in Africa, in imitation of the Merciful Jesus, may give prophetic witness to reconciliation, justice, and peace. JUNE National Leaders. That national leaders may firmly commit themselves to ending the arms trade, which victimizes so many innocent people. JULY Lapsed Christians. That our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith, through our prayer and witness to the Gospel, may rediscover the merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life. AUGUST Artists. That artists of our time, through their ingenuity, may help everyone discover the beauty of creation.
DAILY MASS On television Mass is celebrated on several channels. Vision TV is included on the basic package offering of both Shaw and Telus in Canada. Salt and Light and EWTN broadcast Mass several times daily but you need a subscription for both channels. Online Mass is also available at dailytvmass.com where you can choose when you want to stream and watch it. This is the same Mass as celebrated on Vision TV. CANADA 150 BIRTHDAY Remember Sir Knights that a very good way to celebrate our National Birthday is by fulfilling our Patriotism pledge by honouring our National Flag. Should you notice a house or business who constantly flies the flag, please note the address and pass the information to our Flag Watch Chairman so that he can make inquiries about awarding a Flag Watch Certificate. Monsignor Albury Assembly #2006 will hold its next meeting in Parksville on Sunday, May 28th. Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Ascension at 10:30 AM. The Church of the Ascension address is 887 Wembley Road, Parksville. Following the Mass, a brunch will be at the Quality Resort Bayside, at a cost of $15.00. This Hotel overlooks our Beach in Parksville, located at 240 Dogwood Street. I am sure that we will once again enjoy the ambience and fellowship here. This will be a Breakfast Buffet. This is the final meeting with the current Officers. It would help expedite our administration if members pay by cheque rather than cash. Cheques can be made payable to: Msgr. Albury Assembly 2006. Of course cash is always acceptable, but debit and credit cards are not accepted. The Assembly General Meeting will follow brunch in the Church of the Ascension Hall beginning at 12:45 PM. The Ladies Program at 12:45 PM will be a special guided tour of the Parksville Museum. It is interesting that their Chapel is already fully booked for Saturday Weddings. Please call your Area Rep to indicate your intention to attend or not to attend. Area Reps please be prepared to do a presentation for the Canada s 150 th, which hopefully
you have discussed with your Assembly.
