MY LIFE PROJECT WHO IS MY RABB? The MY LIFE PROJECT encompasses five things we need to reach Allah!! 1. Al Insaan Who am I? 2. Man Rabuuka? Who is my Rabb? 3. Who are my enemies? 4. What is my goal? 5. What must I do? Insaan is poor... When we know ourselves, our reality as human beings we will realize we are poor, weak, distressed, we are very dependent, we cannot even reform ourselves, and we cannot reach anywhere except when we turn to Allah, there is no success far away from Allah. We cannot succeed without fleeing to Allah. That's why we need to know the answer to Man Rabbuka? Man Rabbuka? It is the first question in the grave and in order to answer this question we need to know who our Rabb is. We are going through all the ayats in the Quran where Allah has mentioned
Ar Rabb and the Rubbubiyaat Allah. We have seen Alhamdulilahi in Surah Fatihah and Hudan lil mutaqin in Surah Baqarah and now we will see a different dimension in the Rubbubiyat where Allah subhana wa ta ala mentions about Himself in the Quran in Surah Baqarah ayat 21 and 22 Rubbubiyat in Surah Baqarah 21-22... O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2). Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped). Allah in ayat 21 says: Ya ayuhan nas - Allah subhana wa ta ala is addressing us. What is Allah addressing us with? All people, all mankind. In the Quran ya ayuhan nas (plural of insan) or ya ayuhal ladina aminu is always followed by a command or order. This is the first command in the sequence of the rubbibiyaat in the Quran. Here Allah subhana wa ta ala is saying: Ubuudu Rabakum...
Who is our Lord, Whom we want to know about through the Quran? Rabakum - the One who deserves all the worship, who reforms and nurtures. Nobody deserves the worship except our Rabb, nobody deserves the lordship except our Rabb/ Lord. Allah says uubudu which means worship. What does the worship (uubudu) involve? What does the worship (uubudu) involve? Ibadah is not only the actions of the limbs but also actions of the heart and includes all different types of worship: 1. al ibadat ajamiayan which includes: 1)To follow the commandments and 2)abstain from the sins 2. Tasdeeq Khabrun -To believe all what Allah says all Allah s news (akhbar). 3. Ubudu ab ta alluk mohabatan wa tadhim -Attachment to Allah out of utmost love and magnification.
Uubudu rabakum - He is the One to be worshipped Limada Ibadah Allah? Why should we worship Allah? We worship Him because He is our Rabb.
He deserves the worship, He deserves to be believed in, He deserves the attachment because hua rabbukum - He is our Rabb!!! Meaning of Rabbukum... From the Quran we can extract everything about our Rabb, we can actually know about our Rabb. and from it we find that Rabbukum is The One who nurtures you with many different types of blessings all together (al jamii). We have different types of blessings which Allah bestows on us, which Allah nurtures and reforms us with. How does Allah reform and nurture us? Blessing 1 The Creation Al ladi khalaqakum wal ladina min kablikum Al khalaqakum - The Creator Al ladi khalaqakim - He is the one who created you and those before you, The One who initiated the creation in the best way. Allah hua Rabb hua khaliq!!! This is one of the stages of Allah s rubbibiyaat and reformation. He reforms through creation. He created us, initiated our creation without anything and He created our forefathers. This is one of the things encompassed in al Ladina kablikum and it will make us attain taqwa - la allah kum tatakum
Ayat 22... In this ayat we are told about the other blessings which Allah has blessed us with, how Allah reforms or nurtures us. Our Rabb creates us and then He is taking care of us. He reforms us by taking care of us. The first ayat was alhamdulilah Rabb and refers to general nurturing, and then Hudan lil mutaqeen tells us about the rubbubiyat khaasa. This ayat tells us how is Allah taking care of us and reforming us general nurturing. The Rubbibiyaat is about Allah s actions towards us. Here we are told: What Allah has made for us? Ja ala la kum - for our sake!!! Blessing 2 Arda Firashan He made for us Ja ala arda firashan - he made the earth for us and how is the earth? Allah made the earth as if it as a bed (firashan), so that we feel so comfortable and it is a settling place for us. Why has he made this for us? Allah made the earth like a bed so that We will settle on it and benefit from and it will help us in our life.
From this we can see the rubbibiyaat, we can see how Allah is taking care of us: He created us and He made the earth as a resting place for us. We need to look at the actions of Allah!!! We forget or we don't know but look at the earth. How the earth carries us, how we are benefiting from it, all our food and drinks, all the benefits we take are from the earth. Further what else is in the Rubbubiyaat? Blessing 3 As sama binaa ja ala - like a building The earth is then As sama ( surrounded) by kalbina(canopy). Other ayats define sama differently but here in this ayat sama is a like a structure, which surrounds the whole earth and is like a building, like a dome or canopy. This sama is like a bina -a building - full of bricks as sama binaa. We are not afraid that this sama will fall because Allah has made it a strong structure with pillars, and is protecting us and contains all that we need and it will benefit us. The sama and all the things in it are protecting or benefitting us. Look at all the things in the sama, the sun, the moon, the stars, the angels!!!
Blessing 4 As sama ma ah As sama binaa wa as sama ma ah -and then Allah sends down the rain from the sky!!! These are all the actions of our Rabb, this is the Rabb who deserves the worship. The ayat says ma ah (water) and not matar. This ma ah is the water which we need and is essential and what is the source? Matar The Rain from the sky. The rain is one of the main sources of water which we depend on and it is from the sky. This part of the ayat is all about the rain and water. After the water we have: Blessing 5 Rizqaan la kum wa akhraja bihi minat tharamathi rizqan la kum. If we understand this, it is actually the life cycle!!! In ayat 21 we had Uubudu kum rabakum - He is the one who deserves the worship and if we look at blessing number 5 we can see what the result is when we have the rain descending on the earth!!! Subhnallah Look at the action of Allah, when the rain descends, wa akhraja - we have the plants and fruits coming forth then as a result. The reason for the plants and fruits to grow and fruits and bear is the rain but Who causes this akhraja. Allah!!! The earth cannot make things grow by itself, it is Allah who causes the plants to grow with the water from rain wa akhraja bihi. The rain (matar) is the means and the water ( al Ma ah is the Sabab) and Thamarat rizq - He will bring out different kinds of provision. The provision is every kind of
fruits, which are an extra benefit, and the essentials like grains, corn etc and all these are Rizq for us. To surmise... Allah created us gave us a resting place to settle in and He is constantly providing for us by the rain. From here we can have an idea of the Rubbubiyaat ama from the Quran. Uh budu rabakum - He created you and reforms generally. Firashan Created the earth as a resting place. As Sama - A canopy to protect and benefit us Ma ah - Allah makes the rain descend for provisions. La illaha illah... From these ayats we can see the actions of Allah: 1)He created us, then 2)Allah made the water to descend and then 3)akhraja - Allah caused the earth to bring forth provisions. All these actions make us see how Allah deals with us, reforms us and reforms our duniya (al islah duniya) and it is all part of Ar Rubbubiyaat ama. Allah created us, and He reforms us. No one is reforming our duniya except Allah so why should we set up rivals to Allah when we know the truth, when we know about our creation, the sky, the earth, the rain and the
provisions. How can we set up rivals to Allah when we know all these are the actions of Allah and we can see these? These rivals cannot do any of these things; they cannot even do anything for themselves. When we know this we will be able to answer Man huwa Rabb? and it will make us say: La illaha illalah Nobody deserves the worship except Allah, and we will not set up rivals to Allah when we know Allah, when we know that Allah reforms our duniya. In every second we are enjoying one of Allah s actions so always: alhamdulilah I rabil al Ameen because Hua rabi al Ameen May Allah make us know our Rabb in order to answer this question of the grave Ameen.
