Grades K-1: Morah Dassy Cotlar s 9:30 am-11:45 am Hebrew Reading Mitzvot I Can Do A fun and interactive curriculum geared to engage and teach young children how to perform various Mitzvot using the different parts of their bodies Each topic is brought to a child s relatable level complete with songs, stories, art and activities. End of Kindergarten: Recognize letters of the first half of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet and know the sounds and be familiar with most of the remaining letters. Holiday : Learning about the Jewish holidays and understanding them through activities and games. End of First Grade: Recognize all of the letters in the Hebrew Aleph-Bet and their sounds. Start learning the vowels and ability to put together some basic words. Grades 2-3: Morah Mushka Dubinsky () and Rabbi Zalmy () *New * Adventure to the Holy Land! Students will relive the journey of the Jewish People from Egypt to the Land of Israel. Using educational tools, such as theater, crafts, STEM, and filmmaking, this experience is bound to capture the attention of each student. Holiday : Learn about the history, customs and traditions of the Jewish Holidays and how they relate to children today. Hebrew Reading *New * GROW: Next Generation Jewish Enrichment The Grow curriculum teach children key life skills to help them excel socially, develop their best qualities and boost positive character. Through the lens of Judaism, children will discover and embrace the enormous potential within themselves through each course that is packed with specialty activities and reallife experiences kids love. End of 2 nd Grade: Pass white, red, and orange Aleph (ability to read all the letters and most of the vowels) End of 3 rd Grade: Pass yellow and green Aleph (ability to recognize all letters and vowels and read words three syllables long)

Grade 4: Rabbi Zalmy Dubinsky Parshalive! Students gain an appreciation for our Torah by focusing on a story or theme through hands-on activities, discussions and projects to bring the Torah portions to life. We will cover famous stories from the middle of the book of Bereishit- Genesis, until the Exodus from Egypt. Holiday : An in-depth look at the history and laws of the Jewish Holidays and how to make it meaningful and exciting for children Choice of GROW: Next Generation Jewish Enrichment course or Bright Beginnings Hebrew Language Skills course Hebrew Reading Pass blue Alef (ability to fluently read words containing all the letter/vowel combinations) Grades 5-6: Rabbi Lev Cotlar Jewish Discovery Course: This course uses the macrocosmic journey of the Jewish people, from the birth of Abraham and Sarah, until the time when Jews entered the land of Israel, as a paradigm to explore the microcosmic journey of the individual in his or her personal relationship with G-d. *New * Bright Beginnings Hebrew Language Looking for your child to come away with clearly measured Hebrew language skills? This course begins by introducing the concepts of common Hebrew root words, prefixes and suffixes in, and then incorporates them into the texts of the Chumash. Through games and stimulated exercises, our students will learn to recognize and translate a significant portion of the text immediately, which helps remove the paralyzing fear factor of encountering a foreign text. Holiday : A comprehensive journey through the Jewish calendar, delving into the traditions of the various holidays and its effect on our lives Hebrew Reading End of 5 th Grade: Pass purple and brown Aleph (ability to fluently read basic and advanced Hebrew prayers End of 6 th Grade: Pass grey Aleph (Master reading from the Siddur in a timed fashion) and work towards becoming a Black Aleph Champion (master reading over 100 words a minute), and began studying Hebrew vocabulary and grammar

Shabbat Hebrew School Two Shabbat (Saturday) mornings this year, we are having a Shabbat Hebrew School program for our students and their families. Following the program, all parents and students are invited to a Shabbat Kiddush in the social hall. Note: this substitutes the regular school program for that week, so please make sure to attend. Shabbat, October 20 th from 10:30-12:00pm followed by Kiddush Shabbat, March 9 th from 10:30-12:00pm followed by Kiddush T.G.I. Shabbat Transform your Friday evenings into a time of great food, lively singing and quality time with family and friends as we welcome in Shabbat with a student led Kabbalat Shabbos followed by a delicious dinner and fun Friday, February 22 nd, from 6:00-7:30 pm Havdalah Ceremony-- back by popular demand! Saturday, November 10 th from 6-7 pm Join us for a fun and lively celebration as we mark the end of Shabbat with food, crafts and entertainment Mishpachat Shabbat! Get a taste of the beauty of Shabbat with a 45-minute family service in the social hall which will feature a student led Tefilla (prayer) and interactive discussion on the weekly Torah portion. The service will be followed by a delicious Kiddush Shabbat, December, 1 st from 11:15 am-12:00 pm Shabbat, February 2 nd from 11:15-12:00 pm Shabbat, April 6 th from 11:15-12:00 pm

Community Holiday Dinners Our Chanukah and Purim dinners have been huge hits over the past few years, and we ve recently expanded them to include Rosh Hashana and Passover Wed. Sep. 9 th Rosh Hashana Dinner Service starts at 7 pm and dinner at 7:30 pm. Fri. Dec. 7 th Chanukah Dinner Service starts at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:15pm. Thursday, March 21 st Friday, April 19th Themed Purim Dinner Passover Seder Dinner includes Megilla reading, authentic ethnic cuisine and entertainment for the entire family Service starts at 7:45pm and Seder at 8:30pm. Aleph Champ Brunch & Award Ceremonies We would like to invite our parents to join us for two special family brunches, the first shortly after winter break, and the second at the end of year ceremony. At the ceremony, we give recognition to our students for what they have accomplished in their Hebrew reading, and present them with their hard earned Aleph Champ Medallions., January 7 th, June 5 th Mid-year child/parent learning & brunch End of Year Celebration and Aleph Champ award ceremony Ceremony starts at 10:00 am. Ceremony starts at 10:00 am. New Program! Parenting Class for Moms and Dads! In this monthly class, Rabbi Pinney will discuss the challenges that face us as parents and you will explore timeless insights from Jewish wisdom to instill values, foster independence, and ensure the long-term success and emotional well-being of our children. Sep. 18-19 Yom Kippur: Children s program and Learner s Minyan Exciting holiday program for kids and easy-tofollow, explanatory service for adults and older children Sun. Sep 30 th : Sukkot: Special Sukkah Event Barbecue in the Sukkah along with special Sukkot activites Monday evening, Oct. 1 st Simchat Torah: Celebration: Dancing and Deli with the Torah The highlight of the entire month of Tishrei! Hakafot, dancing with the Torah, children s program, Kiddush and deli starting at 7:30 pm. Nov. 18 Thanksgiving Gratitude Bake Off: In school activity to show our appreciation to our local heroes who keep us safe Mon. Dec. 3 rd Chanukah: Grand Menorah Lighting at Crabtree Valley Mall Lighting and celebration at 5:00 pm Sun. Jan 20 th Tu B Shevat (New Year for Trees) Holiday craft and activities Wed.
