THE YOUNG MAN OF GOD AND THE YOUNG LADIES SUBJECT MATTER 1. We are equal 2. We are different 3. Associating with young ladies 1. WE ARE EQUAL A young man knows that in the kingdom of God he is neither more nor less worthy and important to the Lord that is a young woman. Both young men and young women are treated by God equally with kindness and love There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28) God makes no distinction on account of nationality, race or social status. No distinction on account of nationality, race, or caste, is recognized by God. He is the Maker of all mankind. All men [humanity] are of one family by creation, and all are one through redemption. Christ came to demolish every wall of partition (Christ's Object Lessons, p. 386) God considers as His children both young men and young women. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:18) What a promise is here made upon condition of obedience!... He promises to be a Father unto you. Oh, what a relationship is this! higher and holier than any earthly tie. If you make the sacrifice, if you have to forsake father, mother, sisters, brothers, wife, and children for Christ s sake, you will not be friendless. God adopts you into His family; you become members of the royal household, sons and daughters of the King who rules in the heaven of heavens. (Sons and Daughters of God, p. 15) God created in His own image and likeness both young men and young women. Then God said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. (Genesis 1:26) So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) Page 1! of 5!

God gave planet earth and its resources as an inheritance for both young men and young women, for their enjoyment and administration. God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule [have dominion] over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. (Genesis 1:28) God sent His Son to save both young men and young women. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) The Son of God ministered equally to young men and to young women. He spoke with a young man alone: Nicodemus (John 3) He spoke with a young woman alone: Samaritan woman (John 4) He raised from the dead the daughter of Jairus. (Mark 5:22-24, 35-42) He raised from the dead the son of the widow of Nain. (Luke 7:11-14) God called into His service both young men and young women: Daniel Esther Samuel Deborah (Judges 4:4) Philip (Acts 8:26) Phoebe (Romans 16:1) Eve was created from a rib taken from the side of Adam, signifying that she was not to control him as the head, nor to be trampled under his feet as an inferior, but to stand by his side as an equal, to be loved and protected by him. (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 46) When God created Eve, He designed that she should possess neither inferiority nor superiority to the man, but that in all things she should be his equal. The holy pair were to have no interest independent of each other; and yet each had an individuality in thinking and acting. (3 Testimonies to the Church, p. 484) Woman should fill the position which God originally designed for her, as her husband s equal. (The Adventist Home, p. 231) 2. WE ARE DIFFERENT A Christian young man knows what the differences are between young men and young women. Page 2! of 5!

DEALING WITH YOUNG LADIES A young man who belong to the kingdom of God knows how to treat the young ladies. Take every opportunity to reveal your Savior to them. Wherever we go, we are to carry Jesus with us, and to reveal to others the preciousness of our Saviour. But those who try to preserve their religion by hiding it within stone walls lose precious opportunities of doing good. Through the social relations, Christianity comes in contact with the world. Every one who has received the divine illumination is to brighten the pathway of those who know not the Light of life. (Message to Young People, p. 403) Beware of your intensions when you look at a woman I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman. (Job 31:1) But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew 5:28) Page 4! of 5!

The saying goes, Show me your friends, and I ll show you our future. That is, choose your associations wisely, for they will influence your destiny. God s word places great stress upon the influence of association, even on men and women. How much greater is its power on the developing mind and character of children and youth! The company they keep, the principles they adopt, the habits they form, will decide the question of their usefulness here, and of their future destiny. (Message to Young People, p. 404) Be a blessing to the young women Young persons who are thrown into one another s society may make their association a blessing or a curse. They may edify, strengthen, and bless one another, improving in deportment, in disposition, in knowledge; or, by permitting themselves to become careless and unfaithful, they may exert only a demoralizing influence. (Messages to Young People, p. 454) Always smile and show compassion We should never give to the world the false impression that Christians are a gloomy, unhappy people. If our eyes are fixed on Jesus, we shall see a compassionate Redeemer, and shall catch light from His countenance. Wherever His spirit reigns, there peace abides. And there will be joy also, for there is a calm, holy trust in God. (Message to Young People, p. 404) Exercise Christian sociability and courtesy with the young ladies Those who shut themselves up within themselves, who are unwilling to be drawn upon to bless others by friendly associations, lose many blessings; for by mutual contact minds receive polish and refinement; by social intercourse acquaintances are formed and friendships contracted which result in a unity of heart and an atmosphere of love which is pleasing in the sight of heaven. (Message to Young People, p. 405) Treat the young ladies with delicacy All are to be treated with refinement and delicacy as the sons and daughters of God. (Messages to Young People, p. 421) Be courteous; be a gentleman Christianity will make a man a gentleman. christ was courteous, even to His persecutors; and His true followers will manifest the same spirit.
