Call to Worship The Scriptural call to worship at the beginning of our service is a reminder that, as we gather, it is God who initiates and reveals Himself to us through His Word, and we respond to Him. It will be said on that day, Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Isaiah 25:9 Pastoral Prayer My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them and healing to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20 22 Offering Giving is an act of worship in which we give generously of our substance to further the mission of the church and to bring glory to God. Benediction But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. Jude 20-21 3

The 5 Solas In an age of corruption and false teaching, the Protestant Reformers returned to the Scriptures. There they found the way of salvation. Instead of man making his way to God through his own works they rediscovered the ancient way of salvation: the Gospel. The five solas were the attempt to summarize biblical teaching on salvation. By God s grace alone, received through faith alone, on the basis of Christ alone, with Scripture alone as the only, final, decisive, authority on truth, to the glory of God alone. Grace alone (sola gratia) Faith alone (sola fide) Christ alone (solus Christus) Scripture alone (sola Scriptura) God s glory alone (soli Deo gloria) The New City Catechism The New City Catechism is a modern-day resource aimed at helping children and adults alike learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith using 52 questions and answers. Learn more at NewCityCatechism.com. Part 2: Christ, Redemption, Grace QUESTION 22 Why must the Redeemer be truly human? That in human nature he might on our behalf perfectly obey the whole law and suffer the punishment for human sin; and also that he might sympathize with our weaknesses. 6
