Merry Christmas We are so happy you could join us for Christmas Eve at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church! Christmas reminds us that by being Christ s light today, we can brighten the darkness we find in our lives and in the world around us. We pray you find the hope, peace, joy and love of Jesus Christ this Christmas season! Rev. Matthew Ruffner

People: Joy to the world, the Lord has come! Leader: Tonight we welcome the Savior whose birth has forever changed our lives. People: Joy to the world, the Lord has come! *Carol Joy to the World ANTIOCH Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her king; Let every heart prepare him room, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing and heaven and heaven and nature sing. Joy to the world, the Savior reigns! Let all their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy, repeat, repeat, the sounding joy. Opening Prayer - together Oh, God, thank you for the birth of the baby Jesus. Thank you for the songs of the angels. Thank you for the joy of the shepherds. Thank you for the gifts of the wise ones. Thank you for the star that shined brightly. May we shine the light of your love this night. Amen. The Christmas Story The Family Arrives Carol Away in a Manger MUELLER Away in a manger, no crib for his bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. The cattle are lowing; the poor baby wakes, but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes. I love thee, Lord Jesus; look down from the sky, and stay by my side until morning is nigh. *Please rise as you are able

The Angels Arrive Carol Hark! The Herald Angels Sing MENDELSSOHN Hark! The herald, angels sing, Glory to the newborn king. Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled! Joyful, all ye nations, rise; join the triumph of the skies; With the angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem! Hark! The herald, angels sing, Glory to the newborn king! Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Hail the sun of righteousness! Light and life to all he brings, risen with healing in his wings. Mild he lays his glory by, born that we no more may die, Born to raise us from the earth, born to give us second birth. Hark! The herald, angels sing, Glory to the newborn king! The Shepherds Arrive Carol Go, Tell It on the Mountain GO TELL IT Refrain Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere; Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born! While shepherds kept their watching o er silent flocks by night, behold throughout the heavens there shone a holy light. Refrain The shepherds feared and trembled when lo! above the earth rang out the angels chorus that hailed the Savior s birth. Refrain The Kings Arrive Carol We Three Kings of Orient Are KINGS OF ORIENT We three kings of Orient are; bearing gifts we traverse afar, field and fountain, moor and mountain, following yonder star. O star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to Thy perfect light. Glorious now behold him arise, King and God and Sacrifice; alleluia, alleluia, sounds through the earth and skies. O star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to Thy perfect light. Offering Our Gifts to God If you are interested in making a Christmas Joy offering, you will find designated envelopes in the pews. Special Music Three Festive Carols arr. Hayes/Gaspard Michael Groff, organ with Steve Jobman, piano

Glory to God, all glory in the highest! O come, let us adore him; O come, let us adore him; O come, let us adore him, Christ, the Lord! *Dedicating Our Offering (together, with hand motions) Oh, God, we bow our heads because tonight is so holy. We believe that children are not just the future of the church, but they are the church now. PHPC Kids creates an environment where children know they are loved just the way they are and to equip them to know, grow and shine the light of God! This is a place for all children to discover their gifts, talents, and the Spirit through the study of Jesus Christ. Learn more at www.phpc.org/kids Sunday School PHPC offers a warm and nurturing program that is designed to create excitement in learning about our Christian faith and we are called to be disciples. Participants ages 3 years through 6th grade explore the Bible, stories and Christian beliefs through hands-on activities, storytelling and mission opportunities. Nursery Children are always welcome in worship, but we do have professional child care available for all children infant through 5 years old. Child care is provided on Sundays during worship and during other programs, as needed. Our nursery is professionally staffed with at least two child care attendants that have been background checked and trained in our Child Care Protective Policy. Route 56 Route 56 is a fellowship opportunity for 5th and 6th graders at PHPC that meets from September to May.
