a 35 day prayer experience

Welcome Letter Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, God has begun an exciting journey through The Waters Church. As we move into a time of commitment to the second phase of If Not Now, When?, we have a powerful opportunity: we can join together in prayer to seek God s will in this campaign and in the life of our church. Although prayers cannot be seen, and sometimes don t even feel powerful, God tells us in His Word that unseen prayers are far more powerful than anything that is seen. We invite you to journey with us through prayer over the next 35 days. If you miss a day (or ten), we ask that you jump right back in wherever we are. We would love for you to engage in as many days of prayer as you are able. The collective force of these prayers, offered across the congregation, may be the vehicle that God uses to impact the future of The Waters Church. The potential of prayer is just that powerful.

How to Use This Prayer Guide: Each day, you have been given four prompts. Read the Foundational Truth section and the Scripture as a family and discuss your thoughts as a family. Then use the prayer points as a guideline to lead you through prayer time as a family. In the final section, there is a place for you to write down your personal family prayer requests, or to write down answers to prayer. You can also use this space as a place to record things you are grateful to the Lord for or to write praises to Him. Engage the whole family as much as you are able. Perhaps you can find a consistent time such as breakfast, bedtime, or homework time that allows your family to participate together in a meaningful way. Each time that you pray, please put one of the prayer rocks into the prayer jar. There is nothing magical about these rocks. They are simply a tangible representation of something that we cannot see. When we complete the 35 days of prayer, each family will bring their prayer rocks to church and we will be able to see a small representation of the collective power of the prayers of The Waters Church family.

Day 1 Foundational Truth: We cannot see our prayers, but they hold immeasurable weight. As we join together in prayer over the next 35 days, God will use the collective effort to do something significant in our individual lives and in the life of our Church. The stones we are using to represent our prayers are not magical. They re simply meant to be a visual representation of the faithful prayers of God s people. We begin and end the 35 days of prayer with the same prayer points we started the campaign with, trusting that God will guide us into faithful obedience. Scripture: 1 Peter 2:5 Revelation 21:15, 18-20 Prayer Points: Ask God how you can be involved in the vision and mission at The Waters Church. Ask the Lord to show you how you can invest in yourself and in this church. Ask the Lord what He wants to accomplish through you in this campaign? Willingly commit yourself to the Lord, His purposes and what He is asking you to do.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 2 Foundational Truth: You already have everything you need to pray effectively. If you know how to talk to someone, you know what you need to know to begin a prayer journey. Prayer is not only about learning more about praying, but it is so much more about actually spending time in prayer. Feel free to begin this journey from wherever your prayer life is right now without fear or guilt. Scripture: 2 Chronicles 6:18-21 Romans 8:26-28 Prayer Points: Pray that the Lord would help you consistently pray and engage Him without fear or guilt. Pray that He would show you something important and profound through your prayer efforts. Thank Him for giving us help in prayer and making it accessible to us.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 3 Foundational Truth: Prayers don t have to sound exactly right or follow a pattern to be correct. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He used an example prayer that included praises and requests that God would do His own will. Jesus initial concern was that prayer was to be kept simple, which frees us up to talk simply to Him in whatever manner we re most comfortable. Scripture: Matthew 6:5-13 Mark 11:22-25 Prayer Points: Praise God for anything He has done in your life, and for His power, grace and love Ask the Lord to help you as you begin this prayer journey, that you would be inspired and joyful as you consistently come to the Lord in prayer Ask the Lord for His will to be done through our building campaign and that He would show you exactly what He wants to accomplish through you.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 4 Foundational Truth: We can approach God with confidence and not guilt because God delights in us. Sometimes we may feel guilty about not praying enough so we don t want to go to God to pray because of the guilt. But God has no condemnation for those who are Christians. We can approach Him with joy and a clear conscience, knowing He is not disappointed with us, but that He is happy to spend time with us. Scripture: Romans 8:1 Romans 2:4 Prayer Points: Thank God for removing condemnation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to help you stay faithful to these prayer times; but if you stray, ask Him to remind you that there is no condemnation. Ask Him to bring you back to Him in prayer through His kindness. Ask God to reveal to you more and more how much He delights in spending time with you, and ask Him to make prayer a time of great joy for you as well.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 5 Foundational Truth: We can approach God with confidence, knowing that Jesus understands our human experience and will give us help when we need it. In every life situation, prayer is a powerful and appropriate response. There is nothing that God cannot see or that He is removed from, so we can be honest and open with the Lord. If we don t think we know how to pray, we can still pray confidently because the Lord offers us mercy and grace even in those moments. Scripture: Psalm 141:1-2 Hebrews 4:14-16 Prayer Points: Thank God for the freedom, safety and help we receive when we pray. Ask God for mercy and grace where you need it most in your life right now. Ask God to help you understand the power and love behind the truth in Hebrews 4:14-16 more and more each day.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 6 Foundational Truth: Prayer matters. It moves God to action. There are some things that God has chosen to accomplish only through the prayers of His people. We do not know exactly which things God has determined to happen only as a result of prayer, but we know that Scripture tells us, over and over again, that He responds to the believing prayers of His people. It is our privilege and responsibility to engage God in prayer for His Kingdom. Scripture: Matthew 18:18-20 James 5:13-16 Prayer Points: Ask God to move mightily in our building campaign, knowing that His Word says He will hear and answer our prayers. Ask God to help increase your faith in Him and your belief in prayer as you pray. Thank God for hearing our prayers and using His Word to encourage us to ask and believe.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 7 Foundational Truth: Your faith does not have to be bullet-proof for your prayers to be effective. You can pray with whatever faith you have and ask the Lord to increase that faith. Faith the size of a tiny mustard seed is still powerful and effective. Our lack of trust or faith in God does not have to keep us from praying and believing that God hears us and will answer our prayers. Just like the doubting father who asked Jesus to heal his daughter, we can tell the Lord, I believe help me in the parts where I doubt! Scripture: Matthew 17:20 Mark 9:20-24 Prayer Points: Ask God to increase your faith in Him, both as it relates to your personal life and our church s future. Ask the Lord to use the faith you have. Ask for big and important things in your family s life and in the church. Ask specifically that He would allow our building campaign to be successful and that we would meet our goal Thank God for His grace that even in our small, weak humanity, He is still willing to use the little bit that we are able to give Him and make something from it.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 8 Foundational Truth: Persistent prayer is powerful. The Lord does not get tired of us praying for the same thing over and over. In some instances, it is our persistent prayer that prompts the Lord to move on our behalf. We can ask the Lord for the same requests day after day with confidence that He does not grow weary from our requests, but instead He uses them to test our commitment to the prayer and then to move in powerful ways. Scripture: Luke 11:5-13 Luke 18:1-8 Prayer Points: Ask the Lord for something that you have been needing or praying for a long time, confident that He does respond to persistent prayers. As the Lord to provide for The Waters Church through this building campaign. Thank God for allowing us to come to Him repeatedly and that He doesn t grow weary of our requests. Thank Him for the value He places on us that He would be willing to hear our requests.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 9 Foundational Truth: Prayer is effective because of Who we pray to, not because of us. We do not have to feel that the prayer was powerful or say the right things for there to be power in our prayers. God does not depend on how we feel, what we say, or if we can sense Him for our prayers to matter. A prayer that is offered carries great significance and power simply because it is offered to God, who is above all, over all, and more powerful than anything we can imagine. Scripture: Psalm 28:6-7 Colossians 1:16-17 Prayer Points: Thank God that prayer s success doesn t depend on you, but on Him. Thank Him that He is powerful enough to do more than we can possibly think to ask, and that He delights to fight on our behalf. Ask God to do mighty and amazing things in your personal situation. Ask the Lord to make Himself glorified through the building campaign at The Waters, and that He would provide what we need.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 10 Foundational Truth: God is not a genie or a vending machine where we insert our prayer in exchange for anything we can ask or imagine. While He is responsive to the prayers of His people, He also knows what is best for us and is in complete control of our lives and the world. We want to approach God in such a way that we ask Him for the things we need, believing that our prayers matter. We do not want to begin to assume that just because we ask God for something, we are guaranteed He will do it for us. Instead, our posture should be humble and trusting. When we ask the Lord for something, we trust that He will use our prayers as a loving Father. We pray with open hands and full faith that He knows what is best. We know that He will not withhold any good thing from us simply for the sake of withholding, but only if there is something better for our souls that we cannot yet see or understand. Scripture: Psalm 115:3 Luke 22:42 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 Prayer Points: Ask God for what you feel that you need and desire, and then tell Him that you have open hands and a willing heart to allow Him to work for your best. Ask the Lord to provide for The Waters Church and to reveal His will to us through this campaign. Pray this with open hands and a willing heart. Thank God for always answering our prayers with the most loving answer possible, and for being so trustworthy that we can rest in His will.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 11 Foundational Truth: Although God does not grant us every prayer we pray, there are some things that He chooses to accomplish only through the prayers of His people. There are times in biblical history when God waited on His people to pray and seek His face before He would act. There are other times when the Bible tells us that because His people prayed, He even changed His actions to answer their prayers exactly as they asked them. We have no way of knowing which situations God wants to use our prayers in, and which prayers might be the ones that He is waiting on to change a course of action, but we do not need to know. We simply do our part, praying and spending time with God, discussing our needs with Him, and allow Him to use those prayers how He sees fit. Who knows, this prayer may very well be the one He chooses to use to impact our church or our family! Scripture: 1 John 5:14-15 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 Prayer Points: Ask God to prompt the hearts of His people to give generously toward our building campaign, and for Him to provide the exact amount of pledges that we need. Ask the Lord to answer personal and family needs, or pray for someone who is in need of salvation. Ask God what He wants to accomplish through your prayers and listen to what the Holy Spirit might tell you. Thank God for partnering with us, His created beings, by allowing us to join Him in heavenly works through prayer. What an honor and a privilege!

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 12 Foundational Truth: God hears our prayers and answers them. Although not every answered prayer looks and feels exactly like we hoped it would, we can stand confident on His Word that He hears every prayer and answers us. When we pray for things that we know are in God s will - for example, when we pray Scripture back to the Lord, we know that He will not only hear us but fulfill His will as we ask. Scripture: Jeremiah 29:12-13 John 15:7 Prayer Points: Pray Scripture to God. Use the words of Philippians 4:19 as you pray, saying something like, Lord, we pray that you supply every need of The Waters Church according to the riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Ask the Lord to give each member of The Waters the passion and stamina to continue praying for their homes and their church. As we consider how attentive God is to our prayers, ask Him to cause passion and desire among His people to continue praying. Thank God for answered prayers. Think back to something you asked of the Lord and that He came through for you exactly as you hoped. Thank Him for it.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 13 Foundational Truth: There is security in doing God s will, no matter how scary or uncomfortable it might seem at first. As we read the Word and hear challenging messages about obeying God through generosity, righteousness, and courage, we might feel scared or uncomfortable with some of the things we are asked to do. However, there is not a safer or more enjoyable place on earth than being right in the middle of God s will. If the Lord is asking us to do something brave, or to be generous, or to love the unlovable, we can rest assured that when we obey Him, He will protect us and cause us to find more joy and a better life through that obedience. There is no command in Scripture and nothing He might ask us to do that will lead us to a boring or an unprotected life. When God asks us for something, the safest, happiest place to be is obedience! Scripture: Matthew 6:24-33 John 10:10 Prayer Points: What is God asking you to do in your personal or family life? Ask Him for courage and strength to do those things, and thank Him that you already know it will lead to a better life. What is God asking you to do for the church during this financial campaign? Ask Him for strength and courage to do it. Thank the Lord for His perfect plan and ask Him for continued wisdom and strength to walk in it so that you may experience life to the fullest.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 14 Foundational Truth: Obedience to God s will can feel scary or unattractive, but it always leads to freedom and joy. When we first face a directive from the Lord, we may feel that it is unfair, too hard, too scary, or just not for us. However, God s commands are never to hold us back from a good life, but rather to give us the greatest life. If obedience seems scary or unattractive, it is because we haven t walked in the freedom of that obedience yet to know the other side. When we make the choice to walk towards God, on the journey we will discover that the sacrifice or courage it took to begin the journey was worth it by a long shot and that God always helps us in our weaknesses. Scripture: Psalm 19:7-11 Luke 11:28 Prayer Points: Ask God to give you the wisdom and insight to understand how obeying His commands will give you freedom and joy in specific areas of your life. What is God asking of you for the church s If Not Not Now, then When? Campaign? Pray that He would increase your mental, emotional and spiritual capacity to hear His promptings and for your own willingness to obey. Pray this also over your fellow church members. Thank God for creating a universe that allows us to find freedom and joy by pressing into His commands. Thank Him for giving them to us so that we could better understand His design for our lives and thank Him that He did not create them to steal fun from us but rather to give it to us.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 15 Foundational Truth: Sometimes to become financially, spiritually, emotionally and physically healthy, we have to let go of something we are clinging to. Sometimes it is a blatant sin, but other times it is something much more subtle. When we want to truly be healthy in all aspects of our lives, we often spend time asking God to give us that health. In addition to praying for health, sometimes God asks us to release something in return so that He can grow us up into maturity, which is required for us to be fully healthy. Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 James 4:2-6 Prayer Points: Ask God to show you what you might need to let go of so that you can become fully healthy. Spend some time listening to what the Holy Spirit might be telling you. Ask God for the strength and desire to let go of those things He has shown you. Thank God for His patience, kindness and gentleness as you seek Him. God does not condemn us but leads us to understand our sin out of His great love for us. Thank Him for this and ask Him to remove any guilt or shame you might be feeling. Ask Him for a fresh revelation of His love and grace poured out over your family.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 16 Foundational Truth: When we are asked to obey in a challenging setting, or when we are faced with an enormous task, we can look to God. When we keep our eyes on Him, we will not be overwhelmed and He will help us to see things like He does. God often allows His people to be in overwhelming situations so that we may learn to depend on Him and trust Him all the more. Like Peter on the waves in Matthew 14 and like Moses before fighting an all-but-lost battle in Exodus 14, we can choose to be still and keep our eyes on God. He will fight for us and He will come through in overwhelming situations. All we must do is trust Him and watch what He will accomplish as we keep our eyes on Him rather than on our circumstances. Scripture: Exodus 14:13-14 Matthew 14:28-31 Philippians 4:19-21 Prayer Points: What are you overwhelmed by right now? Ask the Lord to help you focus on Him rather than on the situation. When you consider the task set before the church through this giving campaign, do you feel somewhat overwhelmed by the need? Ask the Lord to give you faith to help you focus on Him rather than on the waves. Thank God that even when Peter began to sink because he took his eyes off of Jesus, there was still grace and rescue for him in his time of need. Thank God for doing that in your own life as well.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 17 Foundational Truth: When we are making a decision, we can carefully consider whether the decision is being made out of faith or fear. If we ask ourselves, What is the driving force behind the choice I am about to make?, we might find that we are making a decision out of fear. Perhaps we fear that we will not have enough time, money or attention, or perhaps we fear letting go of control that is meant to be God s. Fear is a powerful emotion, but if we are willing, we can choose faith instead. Trust in God will lead us on a path towards greater joy, but making choices because of fear will lead us towards darkness and pain rather than safety. Scripture: Psalm 34:4 1 John 4:18 Prayer Points: Ask the Lord to show you areas in your life that are being directed by fear rather than faith, and ask Him for the courage to start living with more faith and freedom. When you consider your commitment for the church s campaign, would you say it is faith driven or fear driven? Ask God to help you confirm. Thank God that even when fear feels commanding; there is a way out and a path towards faith. Thank Him that faith leads to freedom, joy and peace.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 18 Foundational Truth: Every good thing in your life is a result of God s generosity towards you. There is nothing we possess - including our skills, gifts, intelligence, and financial standing - that we have because of our own strength. We may have achieved based on our efforts in some situations, but even the initial gift of potential was given by the Lord. God delights to give us good things and to bless us so that we can use those gifts and blessings to enjoy, to glorify Him, and to bless others. Scripture: James 1:17-18 1 Peter 4:10 Prayer Points: Think of several blessings and gifts that God has given you. Thank Him for them. Ask the Lord how you might be able to use the gifts He has given you to glorify Him and to bless others. Ask God to show each member of our church how the gifts that God has given them might become useful to the church body. Ask God to create willing hearts in the members of The Waters Church.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 19 Foundational Truth: You cannot out-give God. He loves to use His people as an outpouring of His love towards others, both in terms of financial resources and through spiritual and relational blessings. The key to being a vessel of His giving is generosity. He pours His gifts and blessings out through those who prove faithful and generous. Scripture: Malachi 3:8-10 Luke 16:10-11 Prayer Points: Ask the Lord to show you how you can give in new and generous ways that open the floodgates of heaven so that God might pour out more through you. Ask God to help you be faithful with the gifts and blessings you ve been given. Ask Him for wisdom in using those gifts freely, and for a willing heart. Thank God for His principles that pour life into those who pour life out on to others. Thank Him for His constant love, grace and generosity.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 20 Foundational Truth: God means it when He tells us that a life of generosity is a blessed life. These principles are not suggestions or just neat phrases that are meant to encourage people to be nice, but they are actual truths that God presented to us in His Word. They are written so that we might understand the way God intended His people to live, and they are principles that guide all of the aspects of His creation. When we give, we are truly more blessed than when we receive. When we pour out blessings on others, we are truly given back in full measure. Although it might seem hard to live a truly service-oriented, generous, selfless life, we must trust God enough to take Him up on these truths in order to see the fruit of it in our own lives. Scripture: Luke 6:38 Acts 20:35 Prayer Points: Ask God to show you a new way to trust Him in these principles. Ask the Lord to pour out His blessings on you and ask Him to show you how it is more blessed to give than to receive. Thank God for the things He has already given you: family, friends, health, resources, skills, gifts, etc.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 21 Foundational Truth: God loves a cheerful giver. He is not asking for our begrudging obedience or for us to give gifts while grumbling. He wants us to trust Him and to be so excited about His work that we are eager and willing participants in His work through our gifts. Scripture: Proverbs 11:24-28 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 Prayer Points: Ask God to help you grasp the vision of what He wants to accomplish through your generosity so that your joy and desire might increase. Ask the Lord to help His people to put away any fear, laziness or selfishness that gets in the way of cheerful giving. Thank God for being the first and most generous Being in the universe.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 22 Foundational Truth: When we understand how beautiful and powerful the Good News of Jesus Christ is, we want to share that love with others. Grace is contagious, and when we truly enjoy God for Who He is and what He has done, we become excited to let others in on the joy as well. This principle is true when we are sharing relationship or meeting people s needs. We become joyful givers when we enjoy God most fully. Scripture: Proverbs 22:9 Matthew 6:19-21 Prayer Points: Ask God to daily increase your capacity to love and enjoy Him more. Ask God to daily increase the capacity of your brothers and sisters in Christ to love and enjoy Him more. Thank God for being so generous, gracious, and enjoyable. Use specific examples from your life as you thank Him.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 23 Foundational Truth: When we give cheerfully, because we believe in the vision and mission of Jesus Christ, then God repays our generosity with generosity. He is the ultimate Giver. Giving God the very best of what we have to offer will open up opportunities for Him to make our barns overflow with resources. When we focus on the beauty of Christ, we also are more willing to use our resources to help others on their path to God. This is because we understand that this world, and all of its resources, will someday be gone. The joy and riches of God will go on forever in heaven. Scripture: James 1:9 1 Timothy 6:17-19 Prayer Points: Ask God to help His people, including you, understand how temporary all of the resources we possess really are. Ask Him to give us all an eternal perspective. Ask God how you can use your resources today to open up His blessings to flow into your life and through you. Thank God for a perfect, forever home in heaven. Thank Him for the riches that await us there.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 24 Foundational Truth: If we only give to God the things that are easy for us to give, we do not experience any sacrifice and we are not given the opportunity to grow in our faith or maturity. Giving to God that which costs us something allows Him to teach us and expands our faith. Just as in exercising our bodies, if we do not ever work our muscles harder, they will never grow stronger. In living a faithful life, the same is true of our spiritual muscles. Scripture: 2 Samuel 24:24-25 Hebrews 13:16 Prayer Points: Ask God to show you how you can sacrifice something to Him, and thereby allow yourself to grow. Ask Him for strength, joy and deeper faith through your sacrificial living. Thank God for caring enough about us that He would desire to lead us into more maturity and faith.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 25 Foundational Truth: We all trust in something. Many of us want to believe that we trust in God, but our behaviors may betray us. We are human, and therefore tempted to trust in our own abilities, our money, our position or our own ideas. As Americans, we have often unconsciously been led to rely on ourselves and our own efforts or luck. As Christians, we ask ourselves, What am I really trusting in? We know that ultimate safety lies in trusting in God rather than money, security or effort. Scripture: Psalm 20:6-7 Proverbs 16:9 Prayer Points: Ask God to give you insight into what you might be subconsciously putting your trust in besides Him. Ask Him for help in turning only to Him. Ask God to gently and lovingly remind His people, including you, that He is the only source for real security. Thank God for His patience and kindness when we turn to Him.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 26 Foundational Truth: God can use you as a vessel through which He blesses others. Throughout the Old Testament, God tells His chosen people that they will be blessed so that they can bless others. The same is true for His chosen people today. How is God currently using you as a vessel of blessing, and how might you ask Him to do it all the more? Scripture: Genesis 12:1-3 2 Corinthians 9:8-15 Prayer Points: Ask God to pour specific blessings on you so that you can turn around and pour them out on others. Choose a specific thing to ask Him for so that you can readily identify when He gives you the blessing to pour back out. Ask the Lord to guide His people to be vessels of His good gifts. Thank God for the ways He has used you in the past to be a vessel of His resources or blessings. Use specific examples as you praise Him.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 27 Foundational Truth: God will guide each of us to determine how much we should give as opportunities arise. What He asks each of us to give of ourselves, our finances and our resources will be different than others, and as we seek Him, He will reveal the right path for each of us. Once He has shown us what He desires for us, we can stand confident on His direction for ourselves, not comparing our life to what others are called to give. We can also give with confidence, knowing He will take care of us. Scripture: Psalm 32:8 James 1:5-8 Prayer Points: Ask God for clear direction about the amount of money you should commit for the church s campaign. Ask the Lord for wisdom and direction in any other areas of your life that you need right now. Thank God for freely offering us wisdom.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 28 Foundational Truth: The amount of money, time, or effort we give in any situation does not matter. What matters to God is not the amount, but the heart behind it. Perhaps, like the widow in the Gospels, we have very little to give of our time, resources, or money but what we can give, we do freely. God is more interested in how generous we are within our means than He is about who gives the most. We might feel tempted to compare how much time, energy and money we give to what others give, but God is clear: He is only interested in our hearts. If we are giving out of faith, joy and generosity, then we are right where God wants us to be. Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:7 Mark 12:41-44 Prayer Points: Ask God to help you understand where your heart is ask Him to confirm that you are giving with the right heart, and the right amount, for the campaign at church. Ask the Lord to encourage the hearts of those who are giving to the church to understand that their gift matters incredibly to the Lord, no matter the amount. Thank God for the way He places fair expectations on His people, and for looking at our hearts.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 29 Foundational Truth: Generous giving is a matter between God and each one of us on an individual level. God is not only interested in our hearts, He is also interested in our own humility. We do not give so that we get accolades, but because we believe in the mission and purpose of God. God asks us to be humble and not to judge others for their gifts. Scripture: Deuteronomy 16:17 Matthew 6:1-4 Prayer Points: Ask God to help you with humility as you give to the church and to others. Pray for each family in our church, that they would have a balance between confidence and humility about the amount that they are able to give. Thank God that He does not place an unachievable financial burden upon us without providing us the means to achieve it.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 30 Foundational Truth: We are the Church. God s people make up the Church, and God uses each of us to build one another up. As God s Church, we know also that we are His Bride and He delights to purify us and provide for us. Since we are the Church and the Bride of Christ, when we invest in The Waters Church, we are investing in ourselves. Scripture: Ephesians 5:25-27 1 Corinthians 12:27 Prayer Points: Thank God for loving us as His Bride. Thank Him for The Waters Church and the good things that have come into your life as a result. Ask the Lord to provide the full amount of pledges that His Bride, The Waters Church, needs. Ask God to help you appreciate the importance of each member of the Body working together so that the whole Body might be built up. Ask Him to help you take full ownership of your place and importance at The Waters.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 31 Foundational Truth: We are worth investing in. As members of the Church, anything we invest in The Waters, we invest in ourselves. God saw that we were worthy enough to receive the gift of His Son s life sacrificed for us. We are important, worthy members of the church, and of God s family. We are worth investing in, and whatever we give to this campaign, we in turn give back to ourselves through the ministry of The Waters. Scripture: Psalm 139:13-14 Ephesians 5:1-2 Prayer Points: Ask the Lord to help you understand and embrace your worth. Ask the Lord to show you ways that you can more fully invest in The Waters through time, gifts, and service. Thank God for determining that we are worthy in His sight and that He has determined that each one of us is important enough to Him to give us His Son s life in exchange for our eternity.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 32 Foundational Truth: The building and fundraising campaign at The Waters Church is not about a building or a piece of land, but rather about the ministry that we can achieve in our own space. The Waters Church exists to save and disciple people in Jesus name through Biblical learning and personal accountability. The Waters Church seeks to own land and their own building so that we might more effectively reach people for Christ. Therefore, giving to this campaign is not about giving to a building, but to the work of Jesus Christ. Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 Ephesians 2:19-22 Prayer Points: Ask God to renew your vision and excitement about the true purpose of The Waters Church, which is to save and disciple people in Jesus name. Ask Him how you can be involved in this great mission. Ask God to work through The Waters Church to impact the city of Katy for Him. Ask Him to provide everything that His bride, The Waters Church, needs to accomplish Kingdom-sized goals. Thank God for giving us a higher, greater, and more beautiful story than anything that a single person or church might accomplish on their own. Thank Him for the work of the Kingdom that brings Him more glory.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 33 Foundational Truth: Each one of us is an important member of the church. In order for The Waters Church to be its healthiest, we each must take ownership of it and help the church with our unique gifts. Although society constantly encourages us to be consumers and to look for how we can get more, God has designed the church to be blessed when each member looks for how they can contribute to the greater body. When members own and take responsibility for the welfare of the church as a whole, everyone is impacted for the better. Scripture: Hebrews 10:24-25 1 Peter 4:10-11 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 Prayer Points: Ask God to move the hearts of Christians across America to truly take ownership and responsibility for the mission and purpose of their local church. Ask God to show you if you are a consumer or a contributor at The Waters Church, and ask Him to help you seek balance between giving and receiving. Thank God for a Church Body that supports one another. Think of specific ways you have been blessed and how you have been a blessing through the work of The Waters, and thank God for both opportunities.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 34 Foundational Truth: As active and contributing members of The Waters Church, we support one another through prayer. As we encourage each other to live the fullest possible life for the Lord through service to the church, we also have the privilege and responsibility to offer each other prayer support. Prayers for others don t have to be long or complicated. We can ask the Lord to bless others so that they might be a blessing in return. We know that praying Kingdom prayers on behalf of others will yield powerful results. Scripture: Matthew 9:35-38 1 Timothy 2:1-8 Prayer Points: Pray for someone else in the church specifically. Pray that they are blessed by a deeper relationship with the Lord and with physical and relational blessings. Pray that they are then able to use these blessings to bless others so that their joy may be greater and God s glory seen mightily. Pray specifically for other church members as they consider their place in the giving campaign. Pray for boldness, confidence and clarity about how they might invest in eternity through the work of The Waters Church. Thank God for people in the church who you know are praying for you. If you do not already know someone who prays for you, reach out to someone today to ask for prayer support.

Our Personal Prayer Requests, Answered Prayers, and Praises:

Day 35 Foundational Truth: God wants to accomplish something powerful and eternal through you. When we spend our time worrying about and praying for temporary, small, comfort-focused prayers, we often miss the opportunities to see God move in mighty, magnificent ways. Worse yet, we often miss the chance to be a part of powerful, eternal accomplishments. When we pray bigger, God-sized prayers, found throughout the Bible, we know that God will use us to accomplish great things. We open the door to opportunities to be a vessel of His power and glory. Scripture: Isaiah 43:19 Ephesians 3:20 Philippians 4:6-7 Prayer Points: Ask God how you can be involved in the vision and mission here at The Waters Church. Ask God to show you how you can invest in yourself and in this church. Ask the Lord what He wants to accomplish through you in this. Willingly commit yourself to the Lord, His purposes and what He is asking you to do.
