The Gathering of the Community Prelude Toccata Buxtehude Welcome Hymn 300 Christ is made the sure foundation Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone, chosen of the Lord, and precious, binding all the church in one, holy Zion's help forever, and her confidence alone. that dedicated city, dearly loved of God on high, in exultant jubilation pours perpetual melody, God the One-in-Three adoring in glad hymns eternally. To this temple, where we call thee, come, O Lord of hosts, today; with thy wonted loving-kindness, hear thy servants as they pray; and thy fullest benediction shed within its walls alway. Here vouchsafe to all thy servants what they ask of thee to gain, what they gain from thee forever with the blessèd to retain, and hereafter in thy glory evermore with thee to reign. Laud and honour to the Father, laud and honour to the Son, laud and honour to the Spirit, ever three, and ever one, one in might and one in glory, while unending ages run. please stand please remain standing The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. And also with you. 3

The Collect for Purity Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Two Great Commandments Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Lord, have mercy upon us, and write both these your laws in our hearts. The Collect of the Day Almighty God, you chose your servant Clement of Rome to recall your Church to obedience and stability: Grant that your people here gathered may be grounded and settled in your truth by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; reveal to us what is not yet known; fill up what is lacking; and keep us blameless in your service; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. The Proclamation of the Word The Readings please be seated Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24 read by Catherine Nicholson Reader A reading from the prophet Ezekiel. 11 For thus says the Lord God: I myself will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. 12 As shepherds seek out their flocks when they are among their scattered sheep, so I will seek out my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places to which they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. 13 I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited parts of the land. 14 I will feed them with good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel shall be their pasture; there they shall lie down in good grazing land, and they shall feed on rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. 15 I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord God. 16 I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with justice. 4

20 Therefore, thus says the Lord God to them: I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. 21 Because you pushed with flank and shoulder, and butted at all the weak animals with your horns until you scattered them far and wide, 22 I will save my flock, and they shall no longer be ravaged; and I will judge between sheep and sheep. 23 I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd. 24 And I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David shall be prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken. Reader Hymn 349 Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Thanks be to God. people that on earth do dwell people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice, him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell; come ye before him and rejoice. Know that the Lord is God indeed; without our aid he did us make; we are his folk, he doth us feed, and for his sheep he doth us take. O enter then his gates with praise, approach with joy his courts unto; praise, laud, and bless his name always, for it is seemly so to do. For why, the Lord our God is good; his mercy is forever sure; his truth at all times firmly stood, and shall from age to age endure. Almighty God, our heavenly Father, in your tender mercy you gave your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption. He made there, by his once and for all offering of himself, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He instituted, and in his holy gospel commands us to continue, a perpetual memorial of his precious death until he comes again. Hear us, O merciful Father, we humbly pray, and grant that we who receive this bread and wine according to your Son Jesus Christ's holy institution, in remembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood. On the night that Jesus was betrayed, he took bread, and, when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper, Jesus took the cup, and, when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. Accept through Jesus Christ, our great high priest, this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; and as we eat and drink these holy gifts, grant by the power of the lifegiving Spirit that we may be made one in your holy Church, and partakers of the body and blood of your Son, that he may dwell in us and we in him: Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, Almighty Father, world without end. Amen. As our Saviour taught us, let us pray, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Communion bapti If you do not wish to receive the wine, you may touch the base of the cup. Gluten-free wafers are available upon request. If you prefer to receive a blessing, please come forward and cross your arms. Holy Communion will be brought The gifts of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God. 11
