11 th November 2012. The Greatest Delight - Al Malik, Al Maalik, Al Maliik Lecture by Sister Eman al Obaid www.alhudasisters.wordpress.com We need all the Name of Allah in our life. We cannot live without the Names of Allah in our life, this is how we should feel. To study the Names of Allah is a need, not something extra I need to know about. You are created to know Allah subhana wa ta'ala, you are created for this reason. If in this life you don t know Allah subhana wa ta'ala and know everything else in the dunya, it is as if you are not living in this life. Life & Death - a dead person has no soul. Knowing Allah subhana wa ta'ala gives the light and life to the heart. Life without knowing Allah subhana wa ta'ala gives ignorance and darkness, the person will be lost in this dunya. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala prolong my life knowing Allah subhana wa ta'ala, Ameen. This is the job of our life and the joy of our heart. The name Al Malik is important because we read it in our prayer Surat al Fatihah. We need to know what is Maliki Yawmadeen (Master of the Day of Judgement). We mentioned Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the True King and every other king is fake, their ownership is fake. The Elements of the Kingship Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the real King because He has three elements which you cannot find with anybody else. 1 - Nobody is like Him, He is a Unique King, He is perfect in all aspects. 2 Everybody and anybody and anything else needs the King. The disbeliever does not feel they need Allah subhana wa ta'ala but we are all Slaves of Allah. Whatever your eyes will see in life, they are a slave, they are poor and they need Allah subhana wa ta'ala, whether they confess it or not, whether they know or they don t know, all of them need Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Your heart you need Allah subhana wa ta'ala to make it work. You need your King. You are sleeping and the King is taking care of you. When you are walking your King is taking care of you. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will not accept from the disbeliever because Allah subhana wa ta'ala is giving them and still they are not believing in Him. A disbeliever has no excuse to 1
disbelieve. There is no excuse for disbelief. Human beings invented the book of excuses. But when somebody makes a mistake they don t give an excuse. For a person to be kafir, for a person to be a disbeliever there is no excuse - I don t know Arabic, I don t know the Quran, nobody told me etc, are not excuses to disbelieve. If you can t see, you hear, if you can t hear, you see, you feel. Allah subhana wa ta'ala s signs are every where. Everywhere you look tells you that there is a Creator and He is perfect and He is the King, He controls everything. Disbelief is not an excuse, if those people are really truthful, a small sign can make them submit to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. A small sign can make them to obey Allah subhana wa ta'ala and to believe in Allah subhana wa ta'ala. But if the person from his heart does not want to change, like Fir awn, he will resist. It is a matter of faith, everyone is a Slave of Allah, whether you know it or don t know it, but there is no excuse for the disbelief because Allah subhana wa ta'ala filled all our lives with the signs of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. The Sun, the Moon, the sunrise, the sunset are they only for certain people? Just by looking at the creation will lead you to the Creator. The 2nd element is that everyone is a Slave of Allah. All of us are poor and in need of Allah subhana wa ta'ala but we need to prove ourselves to our Creator. You need to do the things which are pleasing your King. When you feel like a slave you cannot do anything by yourself. I need to rely on Him, I need to do things which will please Him because you are His slave. Anything that will happen, you need to submit to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. When you are feeling your are a Slave of Allah you will not be proud, arrogant or a tyrant in his heart despite his wealth and authority he still feels he is a Slave of Allah. This is the honour; when you are a Slave of Allah you will not be a slave of anybody, when you are not a slave of Allah you will be a slave of everybody. Freedom is when you are a Slave of Allah slavery is when you are a slave of anybody other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala, a slave of money, a slave of status and rank, a slave of a position. A story of how during Hajj people are slaves of objects one lady who was well known to everybody decided to do Hajj, but her suitcase did not reach its destination so she went back to her country because she could not cope with her possessions. People refuse to repeat outfits at weddings this is being a slave of objects. When you are a Slave of Allah you will really be a Slave of Allah. Hadith: if you are a slave of objects you will be happy when given something, and sad when you don t get something. You will humiliate yourself for things people will kill for power & position. People think you are oppressed being a Muslim, but the freedom is when you are a Slave of Allah, when you are doing what Allah subhana wa ta'ala wants from you. Slavery is when you not following what Allah subhana wa ta'ala wants. This will give you power and strength and identity when you an abd Allah. If it was not an honour, Allah subhana wa ta'ala would not have called Prophet Muhammad ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam a slave, a servant to the King, a slave to One Who is Perfect. You will be attached to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, you will not humiliate yourself to somebody rather than Allah and you will feel that you cannot live without Allah; If I want to pray I need Allah subhana wa ta'ala when doing good deeds I need Allah subhana wa ta'ala 2
When you are with people you need Allah subhana wa ta'ala When I am eating, drinking, breathing, sleeping, walking, I need my Malik AlhamduliLlah to get an appointment with Al Malik is not difficult, just in your heart you flee to Him and turn to Him and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be there for you. This is how to be a Slave of Allah. When you have Allah subhana wa ta'ala, as soon you have a problem you will go directly to the King. The worst thing is when you see people in the Haram begging people, ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala for the money and he will bring the money on your doorstep. Go straight to the head, put everyone else aside, don t go to the people and leave Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Anytime you wish just ask, He is the King, in His hands is the dominion, the treasurers of everything the treasure of money, the treasure of jobs, the treasure of children, of every provision Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the Owner. In His control are all the treasures and still I am asking people and begging them. It is not wrong to ask people but the problem is the heart. Somebody wanted to ask a question in the class. She said to the teacher she did not want to ask from someone like her, I will ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala and then Allah subhana wa ta'ala answered her question. Look at your level of faith. Deal with your heart as if you are a Slave of Allah not proud but humble. Chapter (29) sūrat l-ʿankabūt (The Spider) 29:60 And how many a creature carries not its [own] provision. Allah provides for it and for you. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. None carries their provision Allah subhana wa ta'ala provides for you and for everybody else. Anytime you want any type of provision attach to Allah Al Malik. Don t attach to somebody else in order for them to provide for you. Money, health, children, your house, your eyesight, your hearing, your energy this is the provision of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the King gave you this. Can you guard it? No The King gave to you everything as a trust. When you have it, you need a King, you need Allah subhana wa ta'ala in order to protect it for you. In your heart, the One who gave you the provision, you need to ask the King to protect it for you protect your eyesight, your hearing etc. Ya Rabbi, make us to use it, protect it for us. People with money, people without money, who is less stressed? The one without money. When you have - your stress is how to guard it. When you have money your stress is to guard it, when you have children your stress is how to guard your children, when you have a husband your stress is to guard him. Why are you stressed? Because you have, NO. Ask from the One Who gave to you, Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the King, He will take charge of protecting and guarding what you have this is what we learn. With anything you have, don t feel you are not a Slave of Allah. A Slave of Allah is not by asking Allah subhana wa ta'ala, when you ask you will get, when you get who will protect it for you? Allah subhana wa ta'ala. One doctor was advising a patient to run one hour everyday and you will not have a heart attack when you are trusting something other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will nurture you. The patient had a heart attach when he was running. Allah subhana 3
wa ta'ala will protect, but these are only the means. You need to rely on the King, you need to rely on Allah subhana wa ta'ala to protect it for you, He is taking charge of the protection. The 2 nd element of Kingship We need to feel we are a slave of Allah and not a slave of anybody else. With anything you have, don t get stressed, Ask Allah the One Who is taking charge in order to guard it for you. Also when Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave you anything you need to feel this is a responsibility and trust that Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave you. So you need to take care of it, don t loose it. Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave you children as a trust, you don t own them so that you can beat them as much as you want or take out your anger on them. You don t own them, they are a trust, take care of your responsibilities and duties towards them. The King gave to you 1 st Ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to guard it for you 2 nd Don t think you are the real owner, this is a trust and any time it will be taken away. You need to be responsible, to be good according to what is pleasing to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, don t abuse the things Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave you by committing sin with it. Don t use the blessing to disobey Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Don t abuse the money, don t abuse the eyes, don t abuse your hearing. If you are not occupied with good things you will be occupied with bad things. If you are not attending the dars you would probably watch TV, be shopping wasting money, having endless parties. If you are not occupied with the good you will be occupied with the sin or something which has zero reward. When Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave you the blessing of time, what do you need to do with it? Use it in a good way because you don t feel that you own the time, you don t own your health, you don t own the things which you have. This is how you can see you are a Slave of Allah. True Kingship has elements. Allah is the real King Allah is perfect in Attributes Everybody else is abd Allah ask from Allah subhana wa ta'ala and ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to protect it for you. 3 rd Element What is the relationship between the King and the slave? How is Allah subhana wa ta'ala dealing with His servant? In life, if anyone in authority makes demands on you can you say anything? The tell you these are the rules and you have to follow them. Or at work your friend gets a bonus and you didn t, can you say anything? Anyone in authority has freedom to deal with people as they want, but he doesn t have absolute and perfect authority. You can complain and they may change the rules. 4
Allah subhana wa ta'ala has the absolute and perfect freedom in how to deal with His Creation. Whatever Allah subhana wa ta'ala decreed for you, even if you complain will it change? No, you cannot go against what Allah subhana wa ta'ala decreed. Allah subhana wa ta'ala decreed you look like this, you are born in this family, your Mother is like that, your hair is this colour, your children are like that. Even if you don t like it, you complain but whatever Allah subhana wa ta'ala has decreed, no one can change it. Allah subhana wa ta'ala is having absolute and perfect freedom to deal with His creation by the decree. Allah subhana wa ta'ala decreed for us so many things, on a daily basis, in our life. If this happens it happens. Something breaks we get angry, but you cannot return it, you cannot rewind. Don t cry over the past, don t cry over something which is decreed and happened you will get depressed. Take everything day by day, minute by minute. Don t cry over the past Don t think about the future and worry about the future This is the happiness and remedy in life the past is decreed, finished. In the mornings when stressed, you stop at one red light all the others are red why do you get angry? We loose our patience the decree happened, move on don t get stuck. You are walking in life, things happen, it s over, finished. Thinking about it saps your energy, save your energy to do the best; save your energy by NOT thinking of the past and worrying about the future. You can change with the help of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, with this name Al Malik. Your King has absolute freedom to deal with His creation. The decree is one of things by which Allah subhana wa ta'ala deals with you. When the decree happens no one can resist Allah subhana wa ta'ala, no one can go against His decree, it has to be like that. Allah preordained and pre decreed before the creation of the Heavens and the Earth. Move on, don t look back, don t look at the future. This is how Allah subhana wa ta'ala has the absolute and perfect freedom. But anyone else rather than Allah subhana wa ta'ala may decide or plan something and you can change their mind. Even yourself you plan something and it doesn t happen. So many things can change or stop your plans it is never 100% that it will happen. When Allah subhana wa ta'ala decrees and plans 100% for sure it will be the same. To be continued InshaAllah. This is a transcript of a lecture given by Sister Eman al Obaid. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan. 5
