1. Motto - Rebuilding the Walls! 2. Mission - To mobilise every man and young man for wholesome development, his endeavours, family, church and community; in Christ leading to a positive lifestyle for self and others. 3. Objective - To encourage man and young man to work towards evangelism, mentorship, reconciliation and healing, and morality. 4. Responsibilities - Adventist Men is a subsidiary of the personal ministries department. It includes lay preaching efforts, prison ministry, and Community Services. SDA Church Manual. Pg. 101. 2015 Version 5. Challenge - And I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one." Ezekiel 22:30 6. Motivation - The greatest want of the world is the want of men - men who will not be bought or sold; men who in their inmost souls are true and honest; men who do not fear to call sin by its right name; men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole; men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall. Ellen White. Education. Pg. 57. Page 3 of 12

7. Adventist Men Pillars 1. Lay Preaching Efforts - And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 (NIV) - Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. -1 Corinthians 9:19 (NIV) - Let us now take up the work appointed us, and proclaim the message that is to arouse men and women to a sense of their danger. If every Seventh-day Adventist had done the work laid upon him, the number of believers would now be much larger than it is Had the purpose of God been carried out by His people in giving to the world the message of mercy, Christ would, ere this, have come to the earth, and the saints would have received their welcome into the city of God. Ellen White. Testimonies for the Church Vol 6. Pg. 460 2. Community Services - Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?. Page 4 of 12

- He will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. - Matthew 25:43-45 - Our Duty to Orphans and the Aged. -There are multitudes of poor children who need care and protection. There are multitudes of aged people who are dependent upon others for the necessities of life. The Lord has not designed that these sufferers should be neglected. The Review and Herald, March 17, 1896. 3. Prison Ministries - I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. - Matthew 25:43 (NIV) - It would be unsafe to take to heaven, persons who claim to be Christ s servants, yet neglect to visit those who are in prison to visit those who are in prison, they show what spirit they are of. It would not be safe for such characters to enter heaven The Home Missionary, October 1, 1897. Morality - And I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. - Ezekiel 22:30 - Moral Integrity Must be Firm The work of God calls for men of high moral powers to engage in its promulgation. Men are wanted whose hearts are nerved with holy fervor, men of strong purpose who are not easily moved, who can lay down every selfish interest and give all for the cross and the crown God calls for men of heart, men of Page 5 of 12

mind, men of moral integrity, whom He can make the depositories of His truth, and who will correctly represent its sacred principles in their daily life.' Ellen White. Testimonies for the Church Vol.3. Pg.23. 4. Lay Preaching Efforts - The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. - 2 Timothy 2:2 - Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17 - Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6 - Young men are wanted. God calls them to missionary fields Furthermore, young men can more readily adapt themselves to new climates and new society, and can better endure inconveniences and hardships. By tact and perseverance, they can reach the people where they are. Ellen White. Counsels Page 6 of 12

Inter-district rallies for men assist in exchange programs and increase unity among the saints. 6. Men have challenges, pastors are Adventist men also. Let us please nurture and attend the needs of men, we have lost many, and jealously care for the growing interest of young men in Adventist men. When men are united in a common purpose for Christ. The work of the gospel will soon be accomplished. Our enemy has enticed us with politicking, immorality and divided the very core of leadership. May we leave to deserve the name Adventist Men till the eastern sky shall break. Page 11 of 12

10. Gratitude My family and I would like to thank God for the opportunity of serving in this capacity. We also thank the conference leadership (administrators), fellow directors, staff, volunteers including sub-committee members, all pastors, lay leaders, adventist men lay leaders, church members and everyone for making it possible to work in this department. We thank God for leaders from the higher structures (SAU, SID) not only for their wisdom but also present when needed. We thank the conference church for entrusting us with such a great opportunity of leading out in this department. In a special way i d like to thank Bro. Sipho Mabena and Bro. Lindani Nondaba as my office assistant, God used you to great things. Finally my wife and our family for the sacrifice and support through it all, Noxolo Mkhize. Through her, the Lord has strengthened me. We wish the department and its new leaders all the best and remain available where needed. To God be the Glory, I thank you.
